  1. I’m not even sure there was that much of a technical gulf in there… Joyce’s lead left kept him in control and out of trouble most of the time
  2. Joyce with a good probing jab today
  3. Parker edging it… going to be down to Joyce breaking his heart in the last half of the fight. Breezeblock
  4. Love Joyce’s walk out tune… never been a more fitting nick name for a heavyweight
  5. Good to see Big John bringing his bird along in the front row…
  6. When I think about promotion from the championship it’s always surrounding the way we would get there, the day we would have, where it would be, the moment experienced and the goal scored to take us up. I don’t think, realistically, it would ever get better than that.
  7. Kalle cannot be far away from some issues, he is always so wired. No need for Arthur’s opposition to this poor imo, does nothing for him at this stage in his career. Standard of cards in this country at the moment needs sorting out. Good 50/50 for the British lightweight title though.
  8. Everything about this world cup is repulsive
  9. Interesting that we are only one point better off than this stage last season, and just two places down. I think people forget that it was an ok start (we went up to 9th one match later) derailed mostly by injuries. Of course overall performances are night and day.
  10. I remember Richard Gould was asked last season ‘what type of identity do you want Bristol City to have?’ and his answer was along the lines of ‘energetic, high pressing attacking football’. At the time we were exactly the opposite and his comments were sniggered at. I’m unsure if we’ve carefully curated this style from top down or it has come as a matter of playing to strengths in the squad but it really feels like the start of a new era at City, something that is hugely pleasing and entertaining to supporters but also a torch that can be carried through managers. The start of ‘The Bristol City’ way, as Lee Johnson would put it.
  11. To be pinning a parachute team back in their own half for much of the game and having them on the ropes in the way we did in injury time is remarkable considering where we’ve come from. Let’s not forget the calibre of team we played tonight or that they were forced to stifle themselves to stop us. We also showed different dimensions to our attacking play and that we are able to break sitting defences down. That gives me hope for the inevitable home games against lesser sides who will put 10 behind the ball. This type of football won’t always tip in our favour. Most teams have a danger man but we won’t be playing 3 of the best strikers in the division in the same line up every week and that quality is what cost us tonight. We are still far better off maintaining this style of play. We can’t sit and defend leads or play for tight draws so what’s the point in setting up any other way? I’ve got a feeling we might be saying ‘if only we could cut out the silly errors’ all season but while we’re competitive and picking up wins it’s worth enjoying the ride, this is about as good as it gets as a Bristol City fan. There are sides to our game that are levels above anything we’ve seen for years.
  12. Not at fault for that horror show but subs should’ve been made on 60.
  13. 12PM now, but at least it’s still on a Saturday.
  14. Think tomorrow will be the much tougher game of the two this week, watching Burnley against PNE and they look vulnerable. A lot of potential for a high scoring draw at Turf Moor but I can’t see us getting anything tomorrow, Norwich are resolute as well as dangerous. Defences will be the difference I think.
  15. I was there and on a bus which got smashed to smithereens. For some reason the police don’t appear to see the home fixture as high risk though. I mean a Friday night ffs.
  16. As above police may intervene but last seasons home fixture was played on a Friday night and previously it has been Saturday’s for as long as I can recall so don’t think it’s seen as particularly high risk.
  17. Is it really ‘the reckoning’ though? We can achieve a play off push without winning these two games and we can still mount a promotion charge but lose most games against parachute clubs this season. I wouldn’t be too concerned if we went into the international break having put up good performances and taken nothing from either game. We’d still be around the play offs. That won’t be the mentality of the squad but I don’t think we should put unnecessary weight behind these next couple games.
  18. Going to the rugby. Shame it’s come to this.
  19. Now she’ll be looking down as well as up at us during that particular activity
  20. Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall postponed. Probably the most nonsensical and cruel (for the boxers) decision yet. Weeks spent killing themselves making weight, paying for camps and sparring just for an over the top performative gesture to cancel all that work.
  21. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m going to the egg chasing. Better than a slap on the wrist, or a mournful cry in blackness with only obituaries for comfort
  22. Absolutely. Sense of release and relief at the end of a tough week. Tougher times for most than we’ve experienced in decades. That is not due to the death of the queen. This will undoubtedly have a detrimental effect.
  23. I think they are now trying to fulfil the fixtures. Public mood probably playing a big part. Backlash going in the opposite way to what they expected. Practicalities and policing the big obstacle. But for City vs PNE you need what, 10 rozzers?
