  1. Surely that will make the situation worse - it will put more fans out of packet and give the likes of Leeds the justification they need to increase even more next year.
  2. Absolutely incredible that Barton should be suggesting that anyone (especially young people following him on twitter) should pay any attention to what that animal has to say. A new low for him, and the club that seems to support him so strongly.
  3. “I only signed because I thought the new stadium would be built by now… or at least a new stand.”
  4. Thé BBC report that he has been appointed until the end of the season and is the club’s 5th permanent boss in less than 3 years. I guess it comes to something when ‘permanent’ for a football manager is now less 3 months.
  5. OS says over 20k sold. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/20k-sold-for-canaries-clash/
  6. Personally, I couldn’t see anything wrong with this interview at all. Yes, NIge was clearly frustrated not having won the game, but I thought he was perfectly respectful to the interviewer throughout and answered all his questions politely.
  7. You’re also suggesting he’s a bare faced liar.
  8. Funny how the Bristol Bears match tonight at Ashton Gate hasn’t been impacted by the freezing conditions or flooding. Indeed, I’ve just heard the commentators describe the pitch as being in excellent condition.
  9. I love this quote from his new manager “In my life, I've seen that great players like Cristiano are the simplest to manage, because there's nothing I can teach him. My goal, my objective for Cristiano is to make him happy.” Sums it up nicely. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64155302
  10. The 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons stand out. During spells in those seasons we played exceptionally well. I know we had some classy players, but in my opinion we performed better as a team than the sum of the individual parts would indicate we should.
  11. Getting off topic now, but I’ve always thought LJ over-delivered with the players he had. I can’t think of any other manager that has done this in my time (including Nige)
  12. I can’t help thinking where we would be without SL’s millions: a) in the Premier League with a far richer and more experienced owner b) a lower / mid Championship club struggling to meet ends meet c) languishing in League 1 with a shit stadium but regular derbies with the Gas Having lived through the pre Lansdown decades, I’m not at all confident it would be a)!
  13. Keep fighting Oskar. There will always be a space for you at Ashton Gate.
  14. .. and I wouldn’t say that ‘the crush was caused by the police’. They failed to prevent the crush, but they didn’t actually crush anyone. It does sound like we agree though that those involved in the subsequent lies and cover up are simply evil.
  15. It’s a belief, not a statement of fact. I refuse to believe that the police acted in a way to deliberately endanger lives or knowingly aware that a crush would happen.
  16. I also happen to believe that the police made decisions on the day with the best intentions. Given the environment around football support at the time, I think there was a real risk of crowd trouble outside the ground and of people getting hurt if they didn’t open the gates . Therefore, they thought the safest (least riskiest) thing to do would be to let them into the ground. It was a terrible decision to have to make, and with hindsight the wrong decision, but one made with the right intention. As BTRFTG said, the police didn’t crush anyone - but they did fail to prevent one. What is really unforgivable though is the cover up that happened afterwards.
  17. I’ve never been to Olomouc. Does this mean it’s a shithole?

An apology of sorts. Well OK, more of an explanation. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63337723
  19. I think the point is that it was a foul, and the ref got it wrong (regardless of whether the ball ended up in the back of the net). However, the VAR can only advise the referee to review his decision if a goal is scored. The alternative is that VAR reviews all challenges and advises the referee to reconsider all potential mistakes, and I don’t think anyone wants that!
  20. I can’t say that I’ve had a problem with many of our bookings this season, with most of them being fully justified. The reasons behind then is another story with a lot of them due to us being caught out of position and having no choice but to give away the booking IIRC.
  21. Confirmation of the planning approval: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-63151050
  22. I’ve just seen their highlights on the Sky Sports website (well, Ipswich’s really). Their 2 sending off in the last 5 minutes are hilarious - totally unnecessary and now leaves them with no CBs at all according to Slagchat.
  23. This may be controversial, but I like a vociferous away end. It adds to the atmosphere, and helps (or should help) to get the home support going. If it doesn’t, this is more reflective of our support and moving away fans to a quiet corner won’t make any difference. There is also the quid pro quo to think about. I really enjoy our away games, and if all clubs hid our away fans away (I know some already do), this might put some fans supporting our club away from home as well.
