We could loosen the purse strings a bit now and have a bit of a go now but we are playing it a bit safer.

A month to 6 weeks ago I would have agreed but some clubs have gone through the gears a bit recruitment wise while we have sold Scott.

Certainly compared to the PL it is chicken feed.

My only complaint is we didn't try and replace Semenyo in the summer and we probably won't replace Scott, but that will always be difficult to find a player that comfortable with the ball at his feet

  2. I think Pearson is doing a great job, he is a manager I trust and feel we are better for having him

Things are difficult at the moment and you think it's frustrating for us fans, it must be an absolute nightmare for him having to sell all his best players over and over again and then be judged on results.

I think we all long for the day we can loosen the purse strings and have a go

The money the EPL is spending on players at the moment is just obscene, the Championship (just one tier down) is generally struggling. It's not just us.

  3. I don't think we will either go up or down, but it would be nice to create 'fortress Ashton Gate' for far too long now teams have not been afraid of coming here.

At the moment I do not see that changing any time soon

Not working the opposition goal keeper is a sin in my book

  4. I thought the whole idea of the academy was to produce players of our own, making us less reliant on buying players in. Especially journeymen

I believe this formula would work even better if we actually kept those products and build a team around them.

Anybody remember Man Us class of '92? Beckham, Scholes, Keane, Nevilles, Sharpe and so on. Good things can happen when you keep these kids together.

On the subject of the scoreboard , was this really put up on the screen today ? For those young enough not to know , Michael Stone was a Loyalist Paramilitary during the troubles in Ireland who took a bag of grenades and a machine gun to a Republican funeral in Milltown in 1988 !!

The message would have gone completely over my head, as I didn't understand it, but there is a little irony (in this photo) that if the scoreboard wasn't advertising season tickets then the pitch side boards were.

  6. Reckon a decision was made to advertise season tickets throughout the match. Which would suggest they aren't selling very well.

Got to say I'd rather see replays of the away goals than bloody adverts
