  1. Thank you for the correction. Yes I wouldn’t want to seem a dullard to someone correcting a typo and grammatical error on here, because their opinion was easily proven to be hopelessly wrong!
  2. Your niaive if you fell their influence is still not felt in the club. The LJ/ MA reign will be still felt until the summer2023, when most of the dross they signed is out of contract and 2024 when the financial mess they created is no longer counted towards FFP. Agree re signings though this needs to be a club policy to ensure this happens going forward. Thats why we need to appoint a DoF/ head of recruitment which ultimately is the boards/ SL’s decision agree completely with this except one point; I’ve noticed its a fair portion of our older fanbase who are being the impatient/ Nige out not just some of the younger fans. next season I am hoping for a midtable finish, see us improve both defensively and with our game management whilst trying to play some good attacking play which we have shown in glimpses this season
  3. I agree with you. Also playing devils advocate if we are looking to sell in the summer, by having the surgery now means there is less chance he will fail a fitness test when signing! 3 million also sounds about right to me as well, I’m sure @Davefevs or @Mr Popodopolous Will correct me if I’m wrong but the rumours I saw were we paid £8 million for Kalas on a 4 year deal. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/tomas-kalas-bristol-citys-time-3040231.amp The amortisation of kalas equates to 2 million a year. As such his amortised value in the summer (final year of his contract) is 2 million. Any fee over 2 million would show a profit in the accounts. I would also think it fair to assume Kalas is one of our higher earners. If he is on 20k a week. If sold in the summer we would then save circa 1 million in wages. In this scenario a 3 million fee for Kalas would show a million profit in the accounts and a million less on the wage bill this improving the accounts by 2 million Personally I would look to sell in the summer. I cannot see him signing a new contract with us ( we cannot afford his current wages) and from the next contract he signs is realistically going to be his last big contract. there is also the consideration that die to his age he would leave for nothing the following summer.
  4. Because when he joined Alex Scott was someone few outside the accademy knew about. Semenyo was inand out of the team and quite a few on here had written him off and Massengo we were actively trying to swap for Pedersen at Birmingham in January 21. Whether you like him or not it is undeniable that there value has risen since Pearson has come in and for that he deserves credit. He did not say he didn't see the point of loans he said the youngsters here have the shirts and he thinks they would be better off staying here https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/big-chance-bristol-citys-young-5635963.amp With regards to signings I don’t get this blanket statement his signings have been poor; granted they are a mixed bag. I have been pleased withAtkinson overall bar his slump midseason when he had his illness, James started well but since returning from injury has been poor. I have liked the look of Tanner but I am concerned with the injuries (which he never had prior to signing). Weimann is having his best season ever under Pearson and was a good resigning. Baker looked good prior to his concussions and I doubt we’d have the problems at the back, we have had he been fit. And Klose has been an ok short term signing. Its only king and Simpson which have been poor IMO
  5. Nige never said he was against loans just he would prefer to make permanent signings. What he said can be found here: https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/every-word-nigel-pearson-said-6417713.amp The key takeaway was: Steve Cooper at Forest has said similar to Nige in that he’d rather have permanent players https://theathletic.com/3015221/2021/12/14/forest-have-five-valuable-loan-players-but-cooper-knows-risks-of-relying-on-similar-signings/?source=user_shared_article Most loans have a fees/ obligations to play players X amount of games or pay additional funds attached to them? even if the loans go well you then have to make them permanent which would cost a lot of money just to stay where you are; just look at the summer we spent circa £13 million (not including wages) on Kalas, Palmer and JD. for Forest it will likely cost them over £50 million to keep their loan players. if we are fighting relegation or going for promotion and need a short term fix to het over the line I can understand it but otherwise you are just paying money to develop other clubs players, which in our current financial situation does not make a lot of sense. As mentioned would Pring, Scott, Benarous, Cundy and Tanner got the opportunities they have this season if we’d have brought players in on loan? I doubt it some articles and examples of how expensive the loans can be https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-kent-liverpool-bristol-city-1487267.amp https://www.gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gary-neville-urges-premier-league-18289345.amp https://www.theweek.co.uk/chelsea/80991/chelsea-reap-the-financial-rewards-of-their-loan-factory?amp https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nat-phillips-liverpool-loan-breaking-22935150.amp https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/12040/12104580/liverpool-agree-1-2m-loan-fee-with-cardiff-for-harry-wilson cc @headhunter and @3 Peaps In A PodCast who keep saying the same comments regarding loans on their podcasts
  6. Yeah he replied to you then I replied to that. I just asked where he heard 15k a week. I’m not ITK but that sounds so far fetched
  7. Not the original mate that credit goes to @Davefevs and the mysterious ITKer on here who ian called both trolls ?
  8. Not having a go at you mate, but why would we make a player who had not played football in nearly a year when we signed him one of our highest paid players, when we were in the process of trying to reduce the wage bill? It just doesn’t make any sense, even for city! I have asked Ian where he got his info from but he hasn’t replied as of yet
  9. good news has done well when not being flogged to death. Hopefully get another striker in to rotate with as he cannot do 2 games a week
  10. I highly doubt King and and Simpson were a big financial outlay in championship football terms. Given how long they were out of the game. Plus both were given 1 year deals so at least we are not burdened with them on long term contracts like others in the squad. James was solid if not spectacular at the start of the season, he’s been poor since coming back from injury and does not look fit to me. i think what a lot of people forget about last summer was Nige wasn’t appointed permanently until the end of the season and Gould was not in full time until the middle of the summer. This definitely affected our summer plans as we were playing catch up with a lot of other clubs. i think this played a part in bringing in the Leicester trio as well. @Harrydid a good thread on recruitment team earlier this season. Lets be honest our recruitment problems have long predated Nige and wont change with him going unless the recruitment team is revamped. This will be Gould’s and Lansdown’s decision ultimately. Whether Lansdown looks to replace Nige or not remains to be seen. Would be an extra cost on an already overstretched budget. It would also set any summer plans back to square one and we are playing catch up again (which we cannot afford). They could do but with their record do you trust them to bring in the right person? Out of interest as you want Nige gone, who do you want to replace him?
  11. Thanks I missed that, hopefully it does, what I have read of it sounds promising
  12. I would be amazed if the recent Governance report is not at least debated in the Commons off the back of this https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fan-led-review-of-football-governance-securing-the-games-future
  13. Potentially yes as the main reasons for disqualification are https://www.gov.uk/company-director-disqualification There is an outstanding tax bill and accounts have had to be amended subsequently. However if the case went to court would be extremely messy and I would hazard Mel Morris would fight the disqualification all the way.
  14. Everyone talks about his lack of assists but I can think of at least 4 goals this season where he may not get the assist but without his contribution, we don't score those goals. It was HNM’s through ball to AS which got us in behind Millwall for the winner. The same for the winner against Barnsley with his through ball to CM. Again his ball to AS got in behind their defence for the winner at Cardiff, not to mention his run for our first goal against QPR where HNM takes on QPRs defence and gives the ball to AW literally on the goal line. Without HNM those goals don't happen and we’d potentially be 8 points worse off. So 5 goal contributions in half a season for a 20 year old defensive midfielder is pretty good IMO. Also you really need to look at what prem teams are paying youngsters whom have not played 80 mens games plus Champions League experience (Palmer was on 110k month at chelsea). He could easily get 25k a week in any of europe top leagues and honestly in the prem which due to TV money the impact from Covid is not as keenly felt, I wouldn't be surprised if he got 50k a week
  15. Would I be correct in assuming he is taking up circa £2m a year in the accounts when combining his amortisation and wages?
  16. I’d hazard a guess it’s gross. If its net that would put him on around £47k a week! Even with our financial mismanagement over the MA period I doubt we are paying someone that much!
  17. Been watching since the mid 90s so in my time watching I would say our stand out strikers have been Bobby, Tammy, Kodjia, (wilbraham, Baldock & JET in league 1) Maynard, Trundle, Thorpe, Akinbuyi, Goater, agostino
  18. you should see this guys post on the Barton court case thread!! https://gaschat.co.uk/thread/18106/joeys-court-case-matchday-thread?page=8
  19. It's not condoning it, the people who go to games to cause trouble are idiots the lot of them and if guilty will get their cummupence however I do feel the police could of done more to prevent this from happening which as their job is to ensure public safety should of been their main concern. Prevention is always better than reacting to the problem
  20. Completely agree with this the police were pathetic that night. I know that after the game when you lot were being let out despite putting a wall of police between the two sets of fans they were still letting city fans through. Now however wrong it is you know there are going to be people at the game looking for a fight. Still it looks good for there arrest figures which is all they care about.
  21. If you think that you could be in for a nasty shock we didn't think it would get this far with ours but here we are a couple of years down the line. It is amusing though how smug you lot were about all this I said to a gashead mate of mine that don't believe your through it all until the diggers have moved in and I got called jealous. No building work goes through smoothly in Bristol even you lot should know this. Oh and we're playing tomorrow thought you know that with your little obsession with us
