  1. Hey Folks

    Long time no speak :)

I’m on the lookout for some City training wear (mainly tops) and/or GK tops from the last few years.

Nothing pre-Hummel, and only short sleeves wanted, even in the case of GK tops.

    Adults Medium only.

Only exceptions is if you have any older home or away shirts (80s - now) that are particularly ‘nice’, I may consider it.

If you are looking to shift anything that fits the bill, please drop me a DM.

    Many thanks

I left 5 mins before the end when City were losing 0-2 under LJ against either Fulham, QPR or Leeds and were playing absolutely dreadfully and no way were City going get back in it. That was only time that I was so angry that I wanted to go around the concourse and give LJ both barrels of verbals........iI didn’t tho.

Were you worried he might invite you into his office?

  3. Been forced to take a bit of a break from weight training due to injury so back to more cardio.

Longest run in about 15 months this morning at 9 miles, the last mile or two was pretty hellish, just not used to that distance.

I have something awful to confess...

Went for a bike ride today.

Please don't expel me and make me set up an OTIB cyclist group *shudder*

Can’t we all just get along?! I like a cycle and weightlifting so maybe it should be the OTIB Strava club ?

  5. Going for a change in tack with my training and cutting right back on cardio to focus on weight/resistance training and lean muscle gain. I'm down to running 2 x 5 mile runs a week now.

I'm enjoying a change in routine but I will miss running most days! I'm doing a 30-40 min powerwalk on my 'rest' days though so that should scratch the itch to be outside in the real world and not stuck in the garage!

I never check the non-football thread so only just realised this was a thing. Great to see so many City supporting runners!

I run mountain ultras with a preference of 100 miles and up.

So far I’ve run on every continent except Antarctica. There is a 100km race there that I’m planning to do one day but last time I checked the entry fee was 18,900USD which I can’t really justify right now.

Races I’ve competed in to-date include: The North Face 100Km (now Ultra-Trail Australia) x3, Great North Walk 100 Miles x2, Northburn NZ 100 miles, Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc 100 miles x2, Ultra Trail Mount Fuji 100 miles, Everest Trail Race 100 miles stage race, Comrades, Diagonale de Fous 100 miles, Ultra Fiord Patagonia 100 miles, Fat Dog Canada 120 miles.

This year I was meant to run Northburn again and the Tahoe 200 mile race but Northburn got cancelled and, while I believe Tahoe is still on, the cost of flying post-Covid - and the necessary quarantine to and from Australia - has now made it unfeasible for me.

Despite Antarctica, the only real dream race I have is the Hardrock 100 over in Colorado. I’ve qualified for for the past seven years but haven’t been lucky in the entry lottery.

Age and a two year old kid means I’ve recently started Zone 2 training (as opposed to my usual technique of just running a high volume at high speed) and it’s proving to be one of the most infuriating things I’ve ever done. Any tips, tricks and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

Damn that's a seriously impressive list!

    Great effort!

Out of interest, what weight training workouts have you been doing? My knee doesn’t react too well to running more than 4 times a week but fancy a challenge to do stuff every day, especially as need to get rid of some festive weight I’m still carrying from Christmas 1989

Well, I made a little garage gym about a month before lockdown....talk about good timing!

    9-BE1460-D-B2-AD-45-A0-8070-4-BB0-FAAA32

I do a ~20 min circuit most days which consists of

    5 x 10 pull ups

    5 x 10 barbell squats

    5 x 10 x barbell chest press

    5 x 10 flutter kicks

    5 x 10 V-ups

    5 x 5 dips

That's a great effort mate well done

Those scales can sometimes be inaccurate in the figure they give for body fat, but generally if you do it same time of day (best is first thing in the morning after using the toilet before eating/drinking anything) then the comparison between numbers will still provide a good guide so it's a useful tool still

    Thanks mate.

Yeah I only weigh/measure every 3-4 weeks so I don’t get caught up in the fluctuations, and always first thing before eating / drinking etc. I prefer the tape measure and my clothes as a guide to the scales!

  9. Feeling pretty accomplished today. I set out at the beginning of October to lose weight and get fitter and more active, and was doing really well, but fell back into the habit of eating and drinking too much, and not moving enough once lockdown kicked in.

At the beginning of June I resolved to "close my rings" every day (Apple Activity terminology for 30 Mins exercise, 12 hours of standing for at least a minute, and 500 active calories per day) in June, and do at least one workout every single day in June, all while running in a daily calorie deficit.

    27 x Weight Training Workouts
    17 x Runs
    11 x Bike Rides

In total, 32 hours of workout time, covering 259 miles on foot and bike in June with an elevation gain of just under 18,000ft, or around 60% of the way to the top of Everest. Approx 25,000 calories burned through exercise.

19lbs down since October, 2 inches off the chest and 3 off the waist. Only just set up the scales to measure body fat, and don't think it's overly accurate, but it reckons I've gone from 18.6% at the beginning of June to 17.1% at the end.

    Observations:

    My knees hurt
I need some new running shoes
    I'm a sucker for hilly runs/rides
Music is essential to running motivation for me. Since I got my headphones I've done longer runs and don't mentally flag so soon.

Struggling a bit with reoccurring pain on the outside of my right knee. Its nothing major but if I go for 10km+ it starts to hurt, low pain but its there.  Anyone got any thoughts?

Something I’ve always suffered with, never managed to get rid though, think I kind of just got used to it over the years!

I did mine at 8! wasn't too bad but didn't go for as long a I usually do

Yeah it was pleasant at 7:30ish when I went out but you could tell it was going to be massively hot even then

I went out about 8am today and did a 10k. My shirt was drenched. I reckon for the rest of this week it might need to be 6am starts or cooking may occur!

I’m going out about 4pm tomorrow...pray for me!!
