Ayman was here first by a fair while wasn’t he.  Scott only signed 12.12.99, but quickly went from FAYC side (and being best player on the pitch v Fleetwood) to making his debut as sub and then full debut in 20/21 season under Nige.  Some rise.

Scott signed in 1999? ******* been here  longer than he’s been alive!

Must be an age thing if you think Cardiff is a bigger rivalry than the Gas

I still see Swindon as bigger rivals than Cardiff

In what way do Rovers rival us?
    or Swindon for that matter?

Rovers haven’t been rivals for 20 odd years and unless something goes spectacularly wrong for us or spectacularly right they won’t rival us for at least another 5-10 years!

hopefully they go out of business by then! **** em!

May have missed it, but wasn’t the new stand supposed to be ‘temporary’? Has ‘temporary’ been very quietly dropped?

So the Sags have a retro 1950’s ‘new’ stand, quite possibly, as a permanent addition to their museum of comedic sporting structures.

Of their range of exhibits I still rate the 2020 close season upgrade of a single door fibreglass canopy my favourite. Their pride in revealing that canopy on social media captured the essence of tinpotness perfectly.

From my understanding temporary in terms doesn’t mean for a short time while they sort out something more permanent, it’s to do with the fact that it can’t be taken down at short notice if needed to, that’s why it’s all bolted together!

That’s what I was told but I could be completely wrong!

  5. I used to be a milkman some might think that this a jovial unimportant job but somebody’s got to do it!

I load up my float early in the morning and I’d go off on my round and I’d meet some very influential people on my round jogging and what not before work.

They’d share with me tells from from their day in the office putting together important business deals and I tell them how I changed over empty milk bottles for full ones (I have to admit they were amazed and how proficiently I did my job.)

Anyway I started to realize that making a difference in your community is all these business types wanted as well as finding new ways to put weekly visits to ladies of the night on the business credit cards, they want to leave a legacy.

I still deliver milk these days although demand is not what it was and my round has changed oh and I had a sex change like I said I used to be a milkman!

Isn't part of their planning application that their new stand is a "Temporary" structure.... yet now they say it is the 1st phase of their ground redevelopment at which they now plan to stay "permanently"...?

If it's now a long term plan, surely it's not really fit for purpose & therefore needs different planning & design..?

It's a good job this decision has come to light before they have received their planning permission & started to build the thing........ oh, wait.....!

I believe and I’m not 100% on this but the Term “temporary” in reference to the stand their building doesn’t mean “limited time.”

But in fact is. Do with the fact it’s demountable and can be taken apart for what ever reason and reassembled!

just what I was told not sure if it’s true!

  7. The board said ”it’s to do with recent bad results”

hea having to play kids who probably aren’t quite ready because he has received much in the way of investment!

we probably weren’t going up this season but we weren’t going down with him at the helm!

    properly in shock!

Only if the stadium is sold as part of the deal, because at the moment it's not "owned" by the football club!

Lots of clubs do it this way Arsenal don’t own the Emirates,  Man City don’t own the Etihad the 6th richest club don’t own the pisspoorial!

so any deals to buy these clubs would us would include buying the holding company or taking on the lease in contract when buying!

Nobody worth having as owners would buy Bristol City without Ashton Gate, the big problem we have is does anybody want to take on the Rugby and basketball teams as well!

May IIRC, which is far and away the shortest amount of time any manager I can remember has ever had left on a deal. Didn’t LJ have 2 years left on his deal before getting a shiny new 4 year one? Sacked 12 months later and probably still getting some sort of pay out of it!

They usually only get paid up a year after sacking or until they take a new job !

I don't think 3 is quite right, eventually people will get bored/frustrated and just want change for the sake of it, some are going to start asking what is he achieving over 4/5 years no matter what happens. I think 2 makes sense, if something goes wrong in season 1 then it's not too expensive to get rid.

Most manager contracts have clause built in that the manager only gets paid for a year after his sacking or until he takes a new job! So giving him 2 or 3 years isn’t really that more expensive if we had to get rid!

They may have been ambitious targets but they were perfectly realistic for the right money, as evidenced by the facts that one or two of Gayle and Gray (terrible memory, others will know) had agreed to join us until the club tried to renegotiate the terms behind Cotts' back.

The Andre Gray deal was the only deal the board tried to renegotiate and that was on the first try we came back to him  towards the end of the window and he choose to go to Burnley! The club messed that one up! The rest of the window though was ultimately on Cotts!

What happened in that window wasn’t the point I was responding to it was the fact that someone said he wasn’t backed, and he was but couldn’t  sign anyone, He went from being able to sign the best players in the division from whoever he wanted and they come because we were a big fish in League 1 and assembling the best squad in the league that year by miles, to only being able to sign 2 relative unknowns.

There was a cock up that season by both the board and Cotts!

German managers are the current fashion but previously it was managers from Spain or Italy. In football image is everything so I’ve often thought that Steve Cotterill had the wrong image for SL. He was too traditionally British. If his name had been Stefano Cotterelli I’m sure SL would have given him greater backing

Steve Cotterill was given money he bought Kodjia for £2m and Ryan Fredericks and spent the rest of the summer chasing other Dwight Gayle, Jesse lingard, Harry Maguire and Andre Gray!
He had great backing but spent his time chasing some unrealistic targets.

Remarkable how a sag p*sstake thread has now morphed into a thread about an obscure, eccentric novelty act from the late 60's.

Was out with my ex-Bristol childhood neighbour who stayed down here for the weekend, someone who choose the wrong path and became a Gashead. It’s ok, I don’t need sympathy, as I claim it as a ‘care in the community’ duty for tax purposes. As usual, took him down to the bright lights of Teignmouth/Shaldon for a couple of evening drinking sessions. This is equivalent of going to Las Vegas for our Village neighbours.

Always end up in T’mouth at The New Quay when they have live music. Quite possibly the ‘best’ music venue in the World with the right band on the right night. This small, edgy, tatty, mostly locals venue absolutely bounces on a calm, sultry summers eve, spilling out on to the quay and back beach. Indeed, it’s not unknown for the barmaids to start dancing on the bar when things reach ‘fever pitch’. Jon! Put those ******* crayons down will you!! Highly recommended - but not the place to take liberties.

Anyhows, to the crux of the matter. The band was working the crowd into a frenzy with a well-structured playlist but suddenly go from ‘Zombie’ to Smokies (remember them?), ‘Living Next Door to Alice’. I thought wtf is going on, but everyone around was still buzzing. Then realised this was a right crowd-engager with the chorus line supplemented by mass audience participation of ‘Alice, Alice who the **** is Alice’. Nearly took the roof off and windows out every time.

So got me thinking, while my Gashead mate was slumped in the corner of the pub, dribbling and muttering something about needing ‘Irene’, …..

The Gas have got ‘Irene’, Stoke have ‘Delilah’ … how about City having ‘Alice’?

No way we will redevelop the Atyeo even a new stand would only increase the capacity by 1,000  no way without houses being bought we’d spend money to house an extra 1,000 people just wouldn’t make any financial sense.

Regards any 2nd tier highly unlikely would need to buy out 7-8 houses and get permission to build/no objection from residents.

No way and maybe rightly so Lansdown would fund any developments in short to medium term.

I heard a while back Dolman stand rebuild more likely than either end to look similar to Lansdown stand.

He doesn’t have the tactical noise to change a game got 2 very lucky routes in tournaments to go deep but if you look at the first World Cup we lost 3 games out of 7 that’s piss poor!

Bolders & Baggins. Wasn’t that a kids TV programme during the 80’s?
