  1. Well I'm out of action for a while, so I wasn't there and I was going to be taking 2 people with me, so that's 3 accounted for
  2. Can't believe no one has mentioned the likes of Alfreton, Braintree, Eastleigh, Nuneaton etc.
  3. I remember reading about this incident in a Chelsea fanzine of the time. The author was quite upset and staggered that Stanley- who was apparently a bit of a hero in those parts- was so unpopular at Ashton.
  4. My horse racing gang are planning a trip to Galway, a place I really like but have never been racing to. I have done Ballinrobe though.
  5. 13 for me. Just had to guess on the foreign grounds and although I didn't recognise Upton Park, I though there was a bit of a clue in the question.
  6. I love a race course! I've done about 16 . I'll say nothing about The Rangers
  7. I loved him at Celtic, although it all went horribly wrong in the last season . Another Marmite character, I'm afraid our increasingly divided society would make it very difficult for him at Rovers, I saw a couple of posts referring to him as 'English hating' , obviously with no evidence whatsoever to back it up What does seem clear now , is that our new owners just wanted Barton out, with absolutely no plan on replacing him. I won't get drawn into any arguments about Barton as a man, but , despite results, the huge majority of fans I know where happy with things on the pitch and don't understand why we got rid, a not too dissimilar situation to recent events at Ashton Gate.
  8. And Millwall at Portsmouth ( they played us)
  9. I did, but I can't count Ashton Gate twice, it's the same ground.
  10. We played in the Anglo.Scottish Cup too! Older viewers will know why I try to forget it.
  11. We did actually play a 'home' game at Yeovil's old ground against Real Oviedo as well- unfortunately I wasn't there.
  12. Here we go then, current grounds unless otherwise stated. So this is different grounds that I've seen Rovers first team on and that includes friendlies Current Prem teams Bournemouth Arsenal (Highbury) Viila Brentford (Griffin Park) Brighton (Goldstone & Withdean) Burnley Chelsea Everton Fulham Liverpool Luton Man City ( Maine Road) Newcastle Forest Sheffield Utd West Ham (Upton) Wolves Current Championship teams Birmingham Blackburn Da S**t Cardiff (old & new) Coventry Huddersfield (old &new) Hull (old &new) Ipswich Leeds Leicester (old & new) Middlesbrough (Ayresome) Millwall (old & new) Norwich Argyle PNE QPR Rotherham (Millmoor , Don Valley and the current one) Wednesday Southampton (old & new) Stoke Sunderland (old & new) Swansea (old & new) Watford West Brom Current L1 clubs Barnsley Blackpool Bolton (old & new) Rovers (Eastville, Twerton & The Mem) Burton Cambridge Carlisle Charlton (Selhurst and Valley) Cheltenham Derby (old & new) Exeter Fleetwood Orient Lincoln Northampton (old & new) Oxford (old & new) Peterborough Port Vale Portsmouth Reading (old & new) Shrewsbury (old & new) Stevenage Wigan (old & new) Wycombe Current L2 clubs Accrington Wimbledon (Kingstonian ) Barrow Bradford Colchester (old & new) Crawley Crewe Doncaster (old & new) Forest Green (old & new) Gillingham Grimsby Harrogate Mansfield MK Dons Morecambe Newport (old & new) Notts County Salford Stockport Sutton Swindon Tranmere Walsall (old & new) Wrexham National League clubs inc North & South Aldershot Altrincham Barnet (old & new) Bromley Chesterfield (old & new) Dagenham Eastleigh Halifax Gateshead Hartlepool Kidderminster Oldham Rochdale Southend Woking York (Bootham Crescent) Alfreton Boston (York Street) Chester (old & new) Darlington (Feethams and Darlington Arena) Gloucester City (Original Meadow Park) Hereford Scunthorpe Braintree Dartford Dover Torquay Welling Weston Supe Mare (old & new) Weymouth Yeovil Others in pyramid Macclesfield Telford Hitchin Kettering (Rockingham Road) Nuneaton AFC Totton Dorchester Salisbury Melksham Yate VS Rugby Mangotsfield Clevedon Wisbech (Fenland Park) Calne Keynsham Bury The Rest Runcorn (at Widnes) Rushden & Diamonds Ayr United Wembley Millenium Stadium Peel (Isle of Man) Ramsey (Isle of Man) AFC Stapleton and if I include the grounds of Frenchay Hospital where Rovers played a 1st team friendly against a Guest Frenchay team (which included Kevin Mabbutt) its actually a total of 177. I have done the 92 at one point , but with the new grounds I am down to 89 and my grand total of all grounds (not just with Rovers) is 233 (definitely at least that- maybe some I have forgotten) Now can I PLEASE have that medal!
  13. That's where you're wrong! Isle of Man tournament gave me 2 new ones with Rovers and a pre season at Ayr That's european football in my book
  14. And I hate to make it worse for him, but Wembley only counts as one- it was a rebuild not a new stadium.
  15. Well without boring everyone with the entire list, I've seen Rovers on 3 different home grounds, Brighton the same, Swansea on 2 etc etc. plus all the friendlies and- you may not be aware of this- but we dropped out of the league briefly, so that put on a good number
  16. Started watching in 1974- I think my total ground count is around 250.
  17. Not just league grounds, I've seen them play on 176 different grounds. So for example I'm counting Wembley, The Millenium, pre season friendlies on the IoM and Scotland etc. And I have seen Rovers at Arsenal (Highbury) and Everton, and they have played at Old Trafford a couple of times in my lifetime(even won there) but I didn't go to those games.
  18. Kids? I'm 60 next year and I want one!
  19. Have you seen your club on. There was a story on Sky recently where an Ipswich fan. had just visited her 90th ground with Ipswich. I've done 176 with The Gas, so firstly I want a large medal and secondly , there must be a few who have watched City with a similar number?
  20. Of all the candidates mentioned, he'd be my pick.
  21. It is interesting( and slightly depressing for me) that City are now getting these sort of crowds. I've been watching Rovers for around 50 years and if we are saying the gap in attendances is around 10k in terms of home support, I think that would be the biggest gap I've known. In terms of league position , we aren't that different from where we have been for much of that period. The one obvious difference now is that you have , in effect, a new stadium. As much as many of us- myself included- like an old school ground, it does seem that the rebuild of Ashton Gate allied maybe with the professionalism and drive of Steve Lansdown have had an incredible effect on attendances.
