  1. I heard a rumour (maybe even on here ) that we actually paid less than a Tilson!
  2. How exactly do they think they could they afford O'Dowda? They haven't got 2 beans to rub together! - All wally could afford for ground improvements was a tub of shake and vac, and he has hardly been splashing the cash on players now has he? O'Dowda is young and on the verge of breaking through to be a first choice in his international team.We bought him for around £1.2 million (3 Tilson's in their language) and his recent form before his injury means his value is likely to have increased significantly. If and when we sell him I think we'd be looking at several million or more.
  3. Another Day, another load of mindless Gas cretins needing the facts pointed out to them. They just hate facts! Since most of their fans prefer pictures over text this comes in handy picture/infographic form. As it says this doesn't include the rubbish listed on the wikipedia pages (admittedly for both clubs) like Watney cup, Div 3 South Cup, Playoff matches and semi-finals etc. I should also add there are just four tiers to English Professional League Football - Not five as some of the blue few tried to claim when they were in the vanarama non league
  4. As promised I have updated the chart I made based on the excellent suggestion by @RedRaw As with last time the main thing to be aware of is that this chart shows attendance differences expressed as a percentage of the lower attendance in any given year in the dataset. 0 on the left-hand scale means exactly equal attendances in that season (i.e. 0% percent difference) 100 means the higher club got double the average attendance of the lower club that season (i.e 100% difference of the lower club) 200 means the higher club got triple the average attendance of the lower club The other thing I did not mention is that I believe the data maybe relates to league attendances only? The source data used for this can be found at http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/bric.htm and http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/brir.htm I was also asked by @1982 if i could express this as a pie chart - I don't think that is so relevant for attendance difference and will work better for just the raw attendance figures - If i can find good data on the division sizes over time i could multiply out the average attendance by home games that season to get an actual number of people through the turnstiles - now that would make for some fun graphics and charts.
  5. Travelling away in "huge" numbers "its just what they do!"
  6. Indeed it does - I will try and improve the graphics and repost over the weekend when I have some time I am thinking now of some other infographics and charts I could make once in a while - what i would need though is factual data sources to generate them. I guess there are a few books and stuff with some of this data - however I am hesitant to type something like "Bristol Rovers official History" into a browser for fear of getting profiled as a gashead by Google, Amazon etc and linked with titles like "Boob Cricket: Rules and Regualtions", "The Dummies guide to being a racist" and "Horse punching for beginners" On a serious note if anyone knows of any reliable away attendance datasets I could look at debunking the whole "travelling away in massive numbers, its what we do" bullshit
  7. If they count WWII then yes!!! - #gaslogic at its finest Either side of the war we had higher attendances 1939: City 10,430 Gas 7,999 1947: City 18,849 Gas 12,527 Their longest non-gaslogic consecutive run of getting higher attendances than us was three years The longest consecutive run of higher attendances by either club is the run we are now 34 years and counting
  8. That might be a bit tricky to show on this graph - i'll have a think about how to improve it The graph as presented could be a bit better - I may need to work out if I can get a higher res version somewhere.
  9. Not quite, the record season so far was in 1979 when we averaged 22,306 and they averaged just 7593 (14713 difference) which meant they needed to increase their gate a further 193.8% - 200% equates to triple their average gate. I am not sure what the averages for this current season I think we are just under 20k and they must be around lower 9K or upper 8k. This is likely to mean this year we'd be looking at something like 120 or 130% just over double theirs.
  10. I think it is high time to dispel this rubbish about "core support" with every gashead's nemesis - "facts" as opposed to #gaslogic I took some time to analyse the historical attendance data often linked in this thread to see exactly how core support stacked up over the years between the two clubs. Needless to say if that website's data is even partially correct (and there is no reason to particularly doubt it) it confirms what we all knew already. So how to read this graph..... It is based on the percentage difference in average attendances between the two clubs. A blue bar means the gas were better supported that year, a red bar City were better supported. The size of the bar indicates the percentage difference in attendance. For each year there is data (back to 1921, but none through WWII) I worked out the difference in attendance as a percentage of the lower of the two attendances - essentially what this figure tells you is how much the lower attended club would have needed to increase their own attendance to match the better supported club that year. As an example last year we averaged 19256 and the blue few averaged 9302 - the difference is 9954, and that equates to an extra 107% deluded half-wits they would have needed to find (and fit into their dump) to have matched us. Some observations.... Since England won the world cup just over 50 years ago rovers have had a higher average attendance once! Only on 6 occasions would we have needed a greater than 10% increase on our attendance in a season to match them There are 71 occasions where rovers would have needed a greater than 10% increase to match us City have never needed to make up 50% or more to reach rovers attendance On 21 occasions we have more than doubled their attendance (all figures >100% on the graph)
  11. So... Bristol Rovers 2 - 1 Rotherham Bristol City 2 - 2 Rotherham (16/17 season) It seems to me that just using those two results to draw a #gaslogic conclusion is incorrect .....I thought of using some more results from earlier this season to get to true #gaslogic levels of "thinking".... Bristol City 4 - 1 Crystal Palace Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Chelsea Atletico Madrid 1 - 2 Chelsea Atletico Madrid 1 - 1 Barcelona Surely this is proof they are better than Barcelona! (oh and Us, Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Atletico !!!) They're not just championship ready - but champions league ready!
  12. Yeah because 19th in the form table means they'll be going up https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/league-one/form-guide
  13. One would suggest that he starts by finding some that want to wear their awful rags in league one first!
  14. More inane ramblings from Gaschat: I think we have a psychological issue when we play ‘big’ clubs in big stadiums away from home in the league. Have we played in a game like this and brought back all 3 points since Southampton in 2009? Norwich away - lost. Leeds away - drawn and lost. Sheffield W away - lost. Sheffield U away - lost. Bolton away - drew. Portsmouth away - always lose. Millwall - always lose. MK Dons - drawn and lost. Charlton away - lost. Coventry away - lost. Blackburn away - lost. Maybe I’m talking rubbish because I suppose by definition an away game at a big ground is one that we’re not likely to be favourites in, but we do seem to make a habit of being the ‘plucky loser’ in matches like this (today being another example). #1 - Surely just about every stadium they go to is "big" compared the tiny dump they play in #2 - They are not making a habit of being "plucky losers" in matches like Blackburn today - they are making a habit of being losers in every match regardless of opposition (and long may it continue all the way back to the basement league)
  15. A nice response! A perfect way to make that deluded sag look like an utter fool. A simple like is not enough for that - have a round of applause
  16. It always tough for these conference teams that do well in their first season in the league, and get promoted straight out of league 2 first time, to stay in league 1.
  17. Recent images of the clock that they are so fond of show it appears to be now be in a state of disrepair Tick tock!
  18. TED talks are neither about "conspiracy theories or a "load of shit." TED talks are given by many of the world's best scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and thinkers - including people such as Stephen Hawking. Some of The topics covered include discussing how to solve environmental problems, discrimination, social issues, research into cancer, how the brain works, mental illness, politics and ocassionally some more lighted hearted talks (Google "TED talks spam email" for a fun one). The TED organisation describe them as follows: TED Talks are influential videos from expert speakers on education, business, science, tech and creativity, with subtitles in 100+ languages. Stil it's not like a blue and white quatered moron to make stuff up or just be too stupid to understand is it now? Noticeable too that our old friend that Henburygas liked a comment that fits an anti city agenda with no basis in fact.
  19. that is almost too tinpot to be believable - Listed by the post as a stadium improvement vs
  20. Was going to say the sane just my french isn't as good as yours Major I am sure Diedhou knows he needs to show more and was under pressure. GoN also was glowing in praise for him on commentary.
  21. I think the fact people on here have suggested several formations speaks for the flexibility. Not sure about about Wright at RB has he played there before?
  22. Whoever he goes to let's hope its for a pittance and to some "giant" club the blue few cannot compete with like Peterborough or wigan. Their fans reaction to that would be fun to behold.
  23. Oh god! I'm sorry Tomarse! Maybe I should make clear that obviously there is no link betwen OTIB and derelictplaces However there very clearly IS a link betwen the blue few and derelict places
