  1. Mine arrived today…. Thankfully

I’m really looking forward to the Rotherham match. It’s a 5.30 am set off from Hereford to meet my nephew & family in Sheffield - then onto Rotherham.

3 points for us followed by England beating France would be the ideal weekend

  2. I would be appalled at the two Glasgow clubs being allowed into the Premiership.

It would make it even more difficult  for the likes of Bristol City to make it to the top tier.

Perhaps more importantly the two Glasgow clubs playing in England would exponentially increase issues of disorder & crowd control. Fans from both clubs perpetuate sectarian hatred with their vile songs and lack of mutual respect. There’s nothing wrong with local rivalry, but the sectarian hatred is not something we want within the top English league.

I remind myself that Berwick is in England but plays in the Scottish league - curiously their fans were banned from displaying English flags at away matches.

it is appreciated that there’s rivalry between English & Welsh clubs and people - but generally it’s little more than that.  Both societally and in football terms, it would be a retrograde step to allow the Glasgow clubs into English football.

  3. Earlier this week I asked the club a similar question about a parking season ticket at Long Ashton School. I was told it should be sorted soon. It seems contract prices etc have yet to be finalised.

last season my car was one whereby I’d have had to pay a parking zone charge, when it’s introduced- that was one of the reasons for changing my car (along with my old car being clapped out). Those of us who don’t regularly live in Bristol will need to be aware of the forthcoming charges, with accessibility by car being so difficult (and expensive). It’s a pity the park & ride on the Portway isn’t utilised to have a shuttle bus service to and from the ground.

  4. 12 hours ago, cidered abroad said:

Were you still in the womb or was it your first week out in the fresh air?

And the only forward not to score was wearing number 11. Jantzen Derrick. The City crowd were urging on the Chichester amateurs to get at least one goal.

? I was 7 years old when we beat Chichester, it was 61 (or so) years ago.
I was seven years out of the womb ?

  5. Sean Dyche was a very good centre back, albeit not for us. He played his debut whilst still not fully recovered from an injury & City fans got on his back.

morale is an important feature of football players. If we had got behind him & not got on his back, he would have done far better.

liam Fontaine is another centre back who lost form & confidence (it started after  he nearly went to Southampton on a large fee but had an injury so it was called off). A fine player for us in his prime but with fans  lacking in support he lost confidence.

it’s often said that fans who pay to watch are entitled to cheer  or boo as they feel appropriate- but we can be cruel sometimes, occasionally affecting players in the long term.

Dyche was excellent be for he came to us - he was excellent after he left. His time here wasn’t a success, but was in part due to us supporters.

  6. Last season we were (most of us anyway) saying that if the season had lasted a few weeks longer we’d have been relegated. Most on this forum said success for this year would be avoiding relegation and blooding some of the youngsters - which is what has happened (with something to spare).

Pearson’s post match comments were wholly accurate, we don’t have the personalities to provide leadership on the pitch.

commenting that maybe we wouldn’t spend in the summer was also accurate, a result of FFP rules might require us to sell to avoid a points penalty. A sale might enable Pearson to spend.

Whilst the debate is both healthy and interesting, I’d be very disappointed if Nigel Pearson left for whatever reason. He needs 2 to 3 years to turn the club around. My view is that he’s the ideal man for the job.
