Who would be our penalty taker? It’s been that long, I have no clue? Wells?

Sounds like you are describing Kingswood.
Or WSM?

Oh put words in people’s mouths for the sake of the last word. Good lad!
This 50k of which you speak I guess is the speculation that I’ve read about his purported wages offer.! If Bournemouth were relegated do you really think his contact would not reflect that he may not be on that in the Championship. Just a thought!
As for Burnley who knows what wages they would offer it’s not even been speculated on until now. However let’s be frank to not go up from here will be a stroke of anti genius!
Lots to consider for those concerned and lots to speculate on by others!im not trying to have the last word. You seem a little tetchy.
All I’m saying is people talk about Bornemouth as if it would be a bad move. What I’m saying is being a footballer is a job, and increasing your earnings is a key part to your career. Therefore, whoever offers the most money would be the best career move from a financial POV. Regardless of what division you play in.

Yes to you it might! To a very hot property with options that don’t have to include going into a relegation haunted team to become the savior it might not.
So if Burnley offered half the salary, for example, would they still be the better option? Money talks

City don’t need to sell. The willing buyer and willing seller applies.
The press conference yesterday at one point alluded to the Bournemouth interest was leaked to the press in order to undermine the position of Bristol City by unsettling the player. This could be done by a number of interested parties for a number of reasons, none of them being advantageous to Bristol City.
However the Burnley bid was alluded to in a different light as it was kept between clubs.
Semenyo would be nuts to go to Bournemouth. The pressure he would be under to get goal’s immediately would be huge. However Burnley I would suggest is a better move. Nevertheless I wouldn’t rule out another club coming in. Either way right now there is not so much pressure on Bristol City particularly with Kalas coming in.
Would it be nuts to accept 50k a week on a 3 or 4 year contract? Seems fairly rational to me

Don't really understand why some of our fans are saying we should have taken the 8 million and then the 10 million.
Bournemouth are a premier league club with new wealthy owners. They can easily afford to meet our asking price.
Doesn’t mean they will though if they see better value elsewhere.

This is the thing, we shouldn’t be trying to justify this on “fair price”, we should be weighing up the various dynamics, especially as the selling club.
Bristol City:
- passing FFP (down boy down Mr P )
- we’ve said we don’t need to sell
- He’s a striker / premium price for that position
- He’s young, has upside
- he’s got the attributes of power and pace that are generally needed in the PL
- its January / premium paid in this window
- etc
Bournemouth:
- all of the pluses of being in the PL, wages etc
- all the minuses that they might be relegated
- does Antoine get a 40-50% wage reduction if they go down
- Is he gonna play over Moore, Solanke, Ouattara, etc
- Etc
and as it stands, he’s our player, he’s contracted to Summer 2024. The fee will be what it will be, but we need to be looking after ourselves, it’s not about being fair…it’s about supply and demand.
I agree all those dynamics will have an effect on the final decision but they also don’t allow you to change reality. The reality is we have an inconsistent young striker with potential, who he 18-months left on his contract. If we don’t sell now they is a very good chance he continues being inconsistent until the end of the season. We then have the same situation but with a 12-month contract, meaning his value reduces. My fear is we are then forced into selling below his market value and certainly below what’s currently being offered.
I think 10m would be a good deal for all parties, although admittedly I don’t know the details of how they want to pay as we would need a substantial amount up front to make it worthwhile.

We will have to agree to disagree............all i will state, is that Bobby Reid did not start to truly fire until he was 25, and if you take the time to look and see where Antoine's path has come from, then he has had a lot of catching up to achieve his current status?. I am confident in my own judgement, that Semenyo will be an established Premiership striker within 3 seasons...............anyway gotta go.........have to have my rose tinted spec's adjusted........fool.......Ha!
Fair point. Time will tell I suppose.
Anyway, gotta go, you’ve reminded me why I don’t bother engaging with people on here. Its where brain cells go to die

Not picking on this, but you said:
I’m querying what you mean by decent, because when he’s good he’s pretty much up there with the best at this level…and that’s exactly why PL clubs are watching / interested.
I get the impression you are looking for him to be the perfect all round striker. He isn’t that, few are, even in the PL.
Even when he’s “bad” he still can make things happen imho.
I’m not looking for him to be anything, I’m just saying from all the games I’ve seen him play, 10m seems a very fair price and a big gamble from Bournemouths perspective. I think he can cause premier league teams problems but he hasn’t shown the consistency of performance to warrant the kind of money that some seem to be expecting.
is he the answer to Bournemouths problems? I very much doubt it

I suggest it is you who should keep on running? Nothing personal.........but i think you have no idea what constitutes a quality footballer, who at just 22, has his best years ahead of him?
Well I’ve seen pretty much every minute he’s played for us, most of it live so I think I have a pretty good idea. He does not have the technique of a Bobby Reid, the poachers instinct of a Tammy or the game intelligence of a Webster. With Lloyd Kelly you could tell he was going to the top from the first moment he stepped on the pitch, that, in my personal opinion, was not the case with Semenyo.
I’m not saying Antione isn’t an effective striker but his pace and power paint over the fairly substantial cracks in his technical ability. I hope he does well in the premier league but I have my doubts that he will be a big success at that level.
I would suggest it’s you that has the rose tinted glasses on because he plays for city and prem teams are interested. You therefore suddenly think he’s a world beater worth 15m+ when in reality he’s done very little to command that kind of fee

I’m yet to be convinced that Semenyo can be a consistent top level player. When he’s good he’s a decent championship striker, when’s he’s bad, he’s terrible. I’d take 10m and run.

Really sad to see a City fan describing anyone from the fan base who doesn’t agree with them as ‘brain dead’. I don’t agree with your perspective Bobbie, but that’s fine: a forum is all about opinions and I’m sure you’re not brain dead. At the end of the day we all want City to succeed.

And there we have it: criticism of Nige belongs to the "brain dead fans". Well, us brain dead fans (including 60% of the 700 who voted on OTIB) perhaps have enough brain cells to see that we have a manager who has one of the worst records at BCFC and has not improved on field performances WHATSOEVER.
Perhaps brain-dead was a little harsh, apologies. Impatient, irritating and unable to see the bigger picture or put the current performances within any context of the club situation is perhaps a better way to describe you. Although, the fact you take a poll on Otib as your evidence against, I think I might just stick with brain-dead.

I don't think anyone is denying that point.
However, some of us aren't prepared to fall headlong into League 1 while he does it.
And my brain works fine thanks.
Well if no one is denying it then a whole lot fail to mention it. We are not in the bottom 3 and haven’t looked like a relegation side on the vast majority of games. Have some patience

Lansdown has made plenty of mistakes over the years but to sack Pearson now would be the biggest of the lot.
The bloke is sorting our club out from top to bottom. Let’s hope SL doesn’t listen to the brain dead sections of our fan base

Yes, I realise there aren’t exactly a busload of wealthy buyers at hand but the Lansdown family have engineered a slow and steady malaise of our club while making some boneheaded managerial appointments.
Yes, Pearson’s time is up - I don’t know what I expected from him but after two years at the helm it was certainly more than this rancid cheesewater - but why would you trust the morons at the head of our club who couldn’t organise their s*** into the pan to get it right next time? The whole rotten lot needs to go.
Short term there’s no outcome other than League One football. Unacceptable but sadly the reality.
Pathetic

2 wins from 14. We did play well today. We played well against Sheff U as well. 1 point to show for both games. If I’m wrong, and 1 win in 7 is the level of these players I’ll hold my hands up. I just think they’re better that that.
As for this… I adore this club with every inch of my being. We win and I’m elated for days. It’s a rare feeling at the moment!
So you admit we played well in our last two home games but you want the manager to be sacked? Tough crowd
-
I thought we played very well against Sheffield Inited and have a very exciting group of young players coming through under Pearson’s guidance.
Many have very short memories- which actually works both ways, as if we win on Saturday everyone will be saying how we’re an outside bet for the play-offs…

I couldn’t care less if he goes to Bournemouth, Palace or the moon. As long as the deal is the right thing for BCFC and I personally feel this is. He wasn’t going to sign a new contract and the club has learnt from the Famara and HNM debacles. I just pray we reinvest the money wisely
