  1. Been saying that for years. Totally agree. Almost every other invasion sport has them.
  2. Achilles tendon tweak. Not serious, could be back on Saturday.
  3. Thanks, I was trying to figure out who RB was - we've had 4 weeks of being told Vyner will play midfield. Has he gone off Liverpool's 433 and decided this week for a Brazilian 424 formation? A 424 is bold. LJ wants us to be bold.
  4. Believe this was the intended schedule prior to the hiatus. If they go in order then keep an eye out for the Notts Forest game, and then of course the final day v Preston which as others have mentioned could be an all or nothing shoot out. We finally threw it away in the third to last game v Derby last season. Maybe we'll go better this time around.
  5. Only thing is that it will inevitably disrupt next season. I'm glad it's coming back, although I'm personally still of the view that this season should have been scrubbed and then 20/21 played as normal - including having fans in the stadia - but the decisions have been made. One thought - if they are sticking to the spirit of distancing and other rules then surely the fixture list should be re-done in order to minimise travel for each team? Seems against it all to have our squad going up and down the M5 every couple of days.
  6. I know it's designed by a child, I know it is in honour of our lord and saviour The NHS (peace be upon them), but my god this is an absolute jumbled mess of a shirt.
  7. Glad you managed to get your wife off the island. To be honest it's not been too bad here really. I've been fairly impressed with McLaughlin's leadership (for probably the first time sine moving here) - and he seemed embarrassed and exasperated at the number of "essential" applications the other day. Have to say I am glad I don't have a pet right now.
  8. Well we are now 14 hours into a full 58 hour curfew in the Cayman Islands. (7pm Wednesday night until 5am Saturday) No one is allowed out of their house (except into your private garden/balcony). all shops closed, only people on the streets are emergency services and medical/government staff. All because when the Gov announced a partial closedown of all non-essential business they were inundated by 20,000 applications form people/business who believed themselves to be "essential". This full curfew is to buy the Gov some time to sort out how the island will functional under a "new normal". We also, as a British Overseas Territory, need to keep a lid on our own infection (8 cases, 1 death) until such time as the UK has it's own house in order and can start supporting the vestiges of the Empire.
  9. Introduced the Mrs to Starship Troopers last night. Tonight is Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Don't say I don't have good taste.
  10. I was. It was fine yesterday. My boss' wife has been saying she's heard that today's flight may be the last one. But honestly that is just hearsay. Give BA a call if you're thinking of booking it.
  11. These are pretty selective photos. I just spent a week in London for work. Tubes were busy as usual, Paddington was busy. Heathrow T5 yesterday wasn't packed to the rafters but was pretty busy. Plane was full. Could have taken half a dozen photos myself that showed a totally different outlook than what you've put here from the papers.
  12. Out in pubs in London tonight. Full. Proper drinking rules.
  13. Your clemency is deeply appreciated. I do ponder your question on a regular basis. It cuts to the core of everything though and is far too big to really discuss on a football forum. You end up down a very deep rabbit hole of existentialism, nihilism and generally end up in some dark cul-de-sac of the soul. Perhaps your solution - family and friends - is the true answer. To be clear; I don't wish death into anyone's life, but I also urge people not to fear it when it does knock. One day I hope to welcome death as an old friend and join those I've lost on whatever the next adventure may hold. So we continue, we endure...but that doesn't mean we panic.
  14. I utterly do advocate euthanasia. I really hope it is an option for me when I reach that age.
  15. And I feel for you, but I trust you've enjoyed life on the whole and, when you do go you go with fond memories. That day will undoubtedly be sad for all who are close to you but it will come, as will my day, and as will everyone else's. My parents are in your age bracket and I have just spent the weekend with them. Naturally we discussed the current news. They both said they have had a wonderful life, are delighted to still be living it, but should the day that they die come soon they will depart this world in happiness and look forward to their next adventure. I told them I love them and we got on with the weekend with a pint in the pub. That is it. I'll miss them dearly when they do die but I'll remember them fondly and that's the sum of it. It sounds hard but in my mind it's an approach that is pragmatic, realistic and actually in many ways optimistic.
  16. Less than a Rovers home gate. Globally. The vast majority of whom are over 80 so would die within the next decade or so anyway. If we didn't have the communication technology we have now this would simply be a nasty flu season and there'd be a few mutterings of "some nasty bug going around". Nature presents a helping hand to an overpopulated and artificially aged world and we refuse it and allow it to drive an emotionally charged panic. Madness.
  17. From the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/27/covid-19-what-we-know-and-do-not-know-about-the-coronavirus "The WHO says we still need more information about the severity of the disease. In China, where the vast majority of cases and deaths have so far occurred, we know that 81% of people have had only mild illness. Of the rest, 14% have severe disease, which may become pneumonia, and 5% have critical disease involving breathing problems and organ failure. The death rate has been estimated at between 2 and 4% in Wuhan, where the epidemic began, but only 0.7% in the rest of China. But we still do not know how many people are not being counted in these statistics, because they suffer only a sore throat and do not go to hospital. It is clear that those people with damaged or failing immune systems are most at risk. “Older people, and those with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes) appear to be more vulnerable,” says the WHO. But we do not know why children, who are very susceptible to some diseases, do not seem to be much affected by Covid-19." I think we'll be fine.
  18. Honestly. I have no idea why we waste all that money mate. Pretty clear we aren't going to agree on this. Essentially you're final paragraph sums it all up. On topic: of course we shouldn't cancel the league.
  19. Then whole thing is a pathetic overreaction to a necessary part of nature. Death rate for under 50's is 0.5%. The rate for healthy people is 0.9%. So the rate for those both healthy and under 50 is 0.45%. Can a global population of nearly 8billion survive that kind death rate? Of course it can. It needs it if anything.
