  1. Emma Hayes knows her stuff, no question.
  2. I think it is fair to assume that Kasey is not on the bus.......
  3. He was yet another one that was touted as the replacement for Frankie. As I recall he started well enough and, as mentioned above, did command his box way better than Frankie. Then it all faded away thanks to that goal against Brighton.....
  4. Absolutely correct, the weather at the time of year the tournament is taking place will be like a good summers day in Southern Europe. As for all of the other factors, totally agree, I would not be interested in going. I have been to the UAE a number of times and there is a certain air of unwelcoming animosity, it is subtle, but it is there. I think it will be a tournament like no other with a real risk of clashes with the authorities for the fans.
  5. I would think, despite the Boro rumours, Chris Wilder will be in their thoughts - as he should be.
  6. I suspect he may be changing his Sat Nav to Norwich
  7. Wishing Nige a full and speedy recovery. IF, it is Covid related, and we don’t know that it is, as someone posted earlier look at what it did to Cotts who, I believe is a very very fit bloke. Lets hope that it something much less serious and he will be back at the helm very soon. We need him.
  8. I am sorry, maybe I was unclear, his new salary at Brighton did not effect our FFP situation but his transfer fee certainly did. In a positive way of course. And, of course, for numerous reasons, we could not match Brighton’s offer to Webster.
  9. It still utterly astounds me how many on here do not get how modern football and FFP work. Lets take Adam Webster as an example - was excellent for us, but that was noticed, Villa came in for him and we said no, que disappointed player due to the fact that Villa would probably have quadrupled his wages. In come Brighton and they make an acceptable offer to the club and I am sure to the player too. On what planet do people think he would want to stick around? Answer he wouldn’t, it happens to all clubs and there is nothing we can do about it.
  10. And , I agree. Some on here fail to comprehend FFP and also the fact that we have made money from transfers out but, we have spent that money. Take Kasey as an example, on his day, and they are too few, he is a very good player at this level, but at an alleged £1m per year that does not work. The club is in an utter mess thanks to Swiss Tony and the owner was asleep at the wheel.
  11. OK, so let’s hear your solution, given all the restriction. Genuine question, would love to hear the answer, you are very vocal, which is your right, so let’s hear it, maybe unlike @Hampshire Red and his other name @Hampshire reds you will have a response?
  12. Goodness, how MANY times, SL cannot put money into the club, it is something that you may have heard of - FFP - Steve is obviously a hugely wealthy man , BUT he is not allowed to invest......tiresome having to mention this yet again.
  13. I actually think that is a real risk that he may walk away. God help us if he does. Be very careful what you wish for Nige will sort us out BUT, as he has said, it will take 3 years.
  14. And I will ask again, and I will keep doing so - replace him with whom exactly? You clearly must have someone in mind that is attainable or are you simply being a dick? An answer would be appreciated @Hampshire reds @Hampshire reds BTW your answer needs to be based on all of the facts e.g. Pep is unavailable and we are strapped by FFP. I am waiting, along, I am sure, with a few others
  15. Bloody Hell, that is rich coming from you. In all of your rants regarding getting rid if NP, I have directly asked you who do we replace him with, given all the circumstances? Not ONCE have you responded! Not once! So I will ask again, who?
  16. Great post. Some on here do not get the mess Swiss Tony And LJ created. Nige is absolutely the best person to fix this......and he will, I have no doubt. Time.......it will take that, but I am certain he will leave us in a better place than he found us.
  17. You are articulating a thought that I have had. The fact that there is movement in the staff suggests things are afoot. I strongly suspect that now SL has realized he was turned over by Swiss Tony he has given Nige TOTAL control of the football side of the club, with of course the freedom to hire the staff he wants. Things are not great but, they are also not dreadful and Nige is a very smart bloke in my opinion and will get the right people in. The other fact that needs to be remembered is that Nige is hardly likely to be worrying about where his next mortgage payment is coming from. He is here because he wants to be, not because he has to be.
  18. I think you are right. Just read the BBC article..........shameful.
  19. I accept I am a older chap, but there seems a lot of mention on this thread about cocaine. I know that is it is prevalent in society in general, but is this now a thing with younger ‘fans’ attending away games? Or, I guess , home games.
  20. It was also designed to keep the status quo. FFP suits the ‘bigger’ clubs just fine. Look at the reaction from the EPL clubs last week regarding clubs being sponsored by associated companies to their owners. All voted in favor except Newcastle . And Man City who abstained.
  21. Fair and balanced post. The thing that really gets on my nerves is the knee- jerk reaction when we lose playing not that great is the NP out posters. Apart from the fact that he has inherited a sxxt show and our FFP constraints, the question that I ask but have yet to have an answer to is ‘ and replace him with who exactly?’. NP is a highly experienced football manager and it looks to me, but I am not ITK, that the owner has given him TOTAL control of the football side of the club. I think in time he will get us where we want to be but, it will take time.........AND patience - a quality sadly lacking with some on here.
  22. So, given ALL the circumstances, and this is a serious question, if you were SL, what would you do? Seriously would like to hear your thoughts. Suspect I won’t get an answer as I never do when I ask @Hampshire Redor @Hampshire reds
  23. As I am sure you understand Joe, loans actually cost money - there is firstly the loan fee, which for a young EPL player could be around £1m for the season. Then you have to pick up a % , or maybe all, of their wages. Some , if not all , of these guys are on serious money, Tammy for example, when he was here, was on £25k a week at Chelsea - I have no idea how much of that we paid but I guess a fair amount. Oh, one more thing, we are broke thanks to Swiss Tony and LJ, so none of that is possible nowadays.
