  1. The interviewers always seem so weak and don't challenge responses so the likes of Hamer get away with saying very little and sound so smug and non-commital. We fans deserve a bit more respect and want some real intent announced so that we can believe the Club are not moving backwards. Oh how long ago it now seems when the Jordanians took over and we were all so optimistic!

When you say 'the likes of Hamer', who are you blaming?

    Surely not actually Hamer?

He is a (well-paid) salary man, put in place to present the club in a positive light because the owners can't (or won't) be in Bristol all the time to face the press and the fans.

I can't say I've ever warmed to the man, but I've realised he's just doing the job he's being paid to do.

He stopped the fake-positive stuff, like the landing lights remark, some time ago, perhaps because he and the club were being criticised too much for it.  So now he goes for the possibly-fake lower our expectations approach, for which he also gets criticised.

He takes all the flak and then has to go home and sleep at night.  Which he quite possibly does very easily, because I suspect he doesn't really care too much about Bristol Rovers.

Meanwhile the real suspects are content to sit in their air conditioned luxury pads in Jordan and work out how they can rescue or dump the whole project, whilst saving face and continuing to look respectable to their business community.

  2. Well done hammer if rovers don't sign any one he has put the blame on Darrel saying he got a big budget it up to him who he signs.

cant wait to see the fall out at end of January when no new players join.

    The clock is ticking

same old rovers always blame some one else

  3. I am really worried about the future of this club. The lack of investment the daily run down of the club.Rising debts .Awful pitch.loss of UWE.No training ground development on the horizon. Our away form is terrible. The rumour of losing our best player in the pipeline pos going to city with his mate.
There doesn’t seem to be any good news anywhere to cheer us up.Wael and Hamer has gone really quiet giving us zero news that may be happening.I wouldn’t be surprised if the manager just walked away taking his back room staff with him- what’s here to keep him? Only his wages I feel really down thinking of the near future especially with what’s going on at City and having our noses rubbed in day in day what a great team they are I thinking of turning red .I have been supporting Rovers since 1962 I feel disalusioned at the moment.I suppose we are in league one which is a blessing but for now  div 2  awaits Sorry for being so negative but but the Alqadi family has drained me and the club as I thought they were the saviours. The £10m charge on the Mem also worries me.Why? Is this a sinister move?
We need to start winning away from home to take the pressure off DC . I can’t see where the next win is coming from.

Yes Bristol Rob I taken this from gas chat and added some just to spice it up a bit

    well it is Christmas

  4. Sad I know but had it confirmed that the club has not paid £12000 owed to my employers for 15 months work.  Something is dreadfully wrong financially, people cannot just not pay for services.  I will not divulge who I work for but can guarantee it is true.  The workforce has now been withdrawn because of non payment.  This is only the tip of the ice berg

The thing is you can't knock what City are doing at the moment but that doesn't stop me from wanting it to stop!

Currently we are light years apart and that doesn't look like changing any time soon, but things do change and in football it can happen quite quickly. A year ago Lansdown and Johnson in particular were getting some horrific stick and the prospect of us facing each other again in league competition looked odds on, a year on and it looks as far away as ever.

I'm 53 next week, and at the moment, I'd take just beating you once more in my lifetime.

Hi miah you are one of the best posters for the blue few

At 53 next week you deserve some happynest.

When are people going to realise that whether you are rose tinted, happy clapping or the most miserable b----d around we are never going to see anything other than a few touches of paint and new toilet facilities at the Mem. Just look at the number of people that were employed to design a NEW STADIUM only to, in one day make the decision to scrap it and give up. We had the person who designed Wembley stadium employed for quite a while and I have just now given up on our owners producing anything. Why should they do anything at the Mem when they told us in no uncertain terms that a development of the Mem was a no goer and yet when news of their failure to secure UWE failed suddenly it became our Plan B. look out its nearly Christmas so Plan C Santas Grotto will soon be realised!!

As far as i am concerned the Mem is still a no goer, if it did get done, which I sincerly think it wont, the infra structure around the ground will make it a  nightmare to operate.

At the blue diamond Christmas I asked  Mr Hamer if the club were still looking for land to build a stadium, he being the politition he is gave an  answer that, as usual, said nothing. When I told him of the land becoming available in Severnside, over a 1000 acres of land for development, He said is it free it was blatently ovious that he knew nothing about it, so what does that tell you?

If I can find that and the details of the agreement between Bristol and south Glos council, that is a matter of record, in 5 minutes of surfing, it just shows to me that they are not even looking.

Before any posters complain that they dont want a stadium there, well if it was a choice between that or a revamped Mem I know which I would prefer.

Its not really a matter of where the land is, what matters it he didnt know about it.And would want it for free.

  7. Unbelievably, Rotherham are actually on worse form than us over the last 5 league games, so I would predict a A hammering, a bit concerned that they have the league's top scorer in Kieffer Moore, who may enjoy playing against our defence! What we do well to hold them at 3/0

looks like doc will be on his way after today once the fans turn against him

as he said he's only here for the fans  if I am not wanted I will leave

    good bye

I am only here for the fans! That says it all for me. He is what we used to say, putting on a lot of front & fair play to him on that front.
It’s very obvious that he is making the most of it & that he is not getting the backing and back up from above. That is how I heard it anyway.
He said he had 3 choices fir every position he wanted during the summer so his comments on Aldi etc aren’t something new.
I think we have a winged manager who is just unable to get the players he really wants and there is only the owners to blame for that.
Maybe the owners would like us to go back to paying the players wage again ? There was me thinking we already did this by going to games.
That interview has made me feel pity for DC. He’s been stitched right up as I view it

  9. All of Hamers interviews and the al Qadi interviews should be kept in a special archive,in the future people would listen to them and marvel at how many people believed such bullsh1tters.
Meanwhile we can listen to them for comedy value,Steve saying that Rovers wouldn't miss Taylor as there were goals in the team just before 5 or 6 goalless draws, the latest rib tickler is that the January window isn't a good time to recruit players and anyway Rovers don't need any players just freshening up a bit!

Still Steve has been proved right a couple of times, apparently Rome wasn't built in a day ! fact, and it was cold in Walsalls car park in January ! who would have thought that ? well done Steve keep the good work

  10. Nigel Clough nailed it yesterday when he gave an interview post match after Burton lost against Sunderland. You have to be realistic and say Bristol City will have bigger support, a bigger budget and will attract bigger name players as they are ambitious today and not 5 - 10 years down the line. This is another reason Bristol Rovers will not ever be about. The city  tick tock

Rovers only selling point to a player is that he might get regular football and will be in the shop window for a better opportunity with a big club at South of the river in the future. Rovers certainly have a track record for producing players who go on to brighter futures eg Mat Taylor

Probability would see Rovers expecting to lose more than win against bigger clubs.   But even that is in the balance with the latest lack of progression updates money UWE ground improvements etc.

Taken from gas chat and added a bit just to take the Micky

    or am I ?

  11.

Has so much importance ever been placed on an episode of Having a Gas? Its bound to be an anti-climax!

In fairness to GT, he did ask DC some probing questions and the interview was played un-edited. If we get the same tonight it will be interesting.

Although it could easily be a predefined set of crap questions, roll on the end of the travel news 6 mins in!

let's hope GT ask about the meeting at London  this weekend

  12. Mods,

How do I close my account? I've looked around my settings etc but can't find anything...

Reason for leaving is that I can't put up with the amount of unsubstantiated, disrespectful mud slinging that is now 90% of the threads on here. Even the ones that start off talking sense and about football end up with people slagging off the board, the chairman, making stuff up based upon hearsay and it's got to a point of complete ridiculousness. This forum has been completely ruined.

I know we are a cynical lot and rightly so based upon history but I must see something different to everyone else as I don't see that the owners have done anything they haven't said the would and despite all this stuff about no investment or no money or potential takeover or unpaid bills, I'm yet to see any substantiated evidence. In fact the opposite with more vacancies being advertised etc.

Anyhow everyone is entitled to their opinions and views and I'm not calling anyone a lier but I just can't be bothered reading endless threads that are just slagging of the board, the chairman, DC and scapegoating players and then people arguing back. It's playground bickering not decent debate and conversation!

It comes to something when I get more meaningful conversation and debate from my Ted mates about both Bristol teams than I get or read on here.

Anyhow if someone can tell me how to close the account that would be great. (I've also tried not reading threads or even come on the site for a week or so in the hope that it would improve but it hasn't, it's got worse (see Hamer being on having a gas thread)

This place was fantastic when it first started, it's now just turned into a place to slag off the board etc.

    Cheers Bluestickgas

If you change your name to Redsitckgas you wil be accused of being a Bristol city fan .

You will get a ban and your account will be closed for you happy days

  13. I also heard on Saturday right from the horses mouth at was punched  that these agreements meant the existing contractors were being paid £1000k per week from BRFC not from DS because DS don’t even have a bank account. And that’s part of the problem. In fact the horses mouth also said that it’s not been £1k a week more like every 3 weeks but he has nearly been paid in full now.

Also heard that Hani will only give £2m to build the training complex when we need more like 10m. That came from the architects doing to the drawings and plans who now been sacked with out being paid. Basically £2m will get us 2 pitches and a set of changing rooms built and that’s about it. There is no running gas water or electric to the site so most of the £2m would be spent in just basic ground works alone.

Whether this is the far eastern way of trying to do a deal or what but the more I hear the more it becomes clear that Wael has absolutely no control of what money comes into the club from his brother.

we need to protest and vote with are feet next home game

  15. The simple answer is that the whole atmosphere around the club has changed since the cancelling of the UWE. Even Clark is now public in his criticism of the status quo.

I was asked recently what I hoped to achieve by going public with various bits of info from behind the scenes. My answer, honestly, was to hope the fan base would wake up and see what was staring them in the face. It now seems they are beginning too. That gives me hope that in turn, our owners wake up, to either sell up and go, or invest in a new stadium, preferably the UWE, and the team. I still don't believe the reason given for calling it off, and find it laughable that anyone would believe it.

We have had 50 years of bullsh*t from owners. The Mem is obviously not a plan b, and the training ground is now on hold. Invest or go is the only hope. Trouble is, if they don't, it begins to smack of asset stripping, and there is not long before even that becomes non viable.

As the fake shak said  the training ground fence payment been sorted only to stop can't pay we take it a way turning up .

  16. “Basically we were looking for a club – and this goes back to the investment return side of it – where a club was at the pure bottom,” says Al-Qadi, who was born in Qatar and who is assistant general manager of the Arab Jordan Investment Bank, which his family founded in 1978. “There was nowhere else to go and they were seconds away from going into bankruptcy. I wanted a club that I could build up from the bottom upwards, unlike most of the investors who are coming in at the top level, be it Premier League or Championship, and paying huge amounts of money.”

Rovers secured immediate promotion back to the Football League in 2015 via the play-offs and then, just months after the Al-Qadi takeover, clinched their place in League One.

The club, known as ‘The Gas’ due to their former Eastville Stadium home’s proximity to gasworks, finished a creditable 10th in League One last season and are currently 15th and into the FA Cup second round.

Al-Qadi is “quite pleased” with such encouraging progress, but stresses: “We believe we should be better than what we are right now and hopefully the team will improve. If you look at the numbers, the attendances, the revenues and all that, then yes, there has been a rise.”

Of his long-term ambition, he adds: “The ultimate goal and dream has to be to reach the Premier League and it has been done before. There are a lot of clubs in the Premier League right now who were in League One not so long ago, so it’s doable.

“But I do not like to put targets that in three years or five years, we need to be here or there. It’s a long-term investment and hopefully the success of our strategy will be reflected one day with success by reaching higher divisions.”

Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League title triumph in 2016 remains a great source of inspiration and an exemplar for clubs of Rovers’ ilk.and we are still seconds from bankruptcy but I can still sale the ground and we play for free up on the downs

I will look after the supporters and each one can own a brick in one of the houses which will be built  only joking

We go round and round in circles. How anyone can still think it’s not the ALQs fault when they have ceased all communication since (and in the months before) is beyond belief. If it wasn’t their mess we’d have heard a lot more from them.

DC has basically told you in his interview who he thinks is to blame. The Fake Sheiks.

    To blame for what?

Well, how about a failure to communicate in any meaningful way with the fans who pay good money to watch ...the string of broken promises such as top 6 budge, development of Colony for start of next season. Then there is lack of any real plan to develop or redevelop the Mem following the very poorly explained decision to walk away from UWE when 6 months before the landing lights were on. It's a shambles if I'm honest with debts building up and all charged on the Mem so the family risks nothing.

There was such good communication and trust to start with which created expectations and now silence is the means of communication. Then the hints from staff that all is not well and the rumours start to fly just as you would expect when people are worried about the future of their club.

I think most of us just need reassurance and to know there is plan for moving forward and when developments will happen.

I want to love the Al Qadis' but they make it very, very hard to do so that present.  For some the trust has broken forever but for most of us I think the family can save this situation by simply communicating a little.

Having been sat on the fence this week having heard that interview and seen what DC has said in tonight's BP you now have to fear the worse. Although not sure where the club goes from here.

Just listen to the DC interview, he's been shafted and is doing his very best to be loyal and put on a brave face on his dissapointment.

It clear DC has no better idea what's going on with the Colony let alone the Mem. than we do.

He's trying to be positive but it's still clear he has no idea if or when the infrasture promised will be delived.

Seems communication with DC is little better than it is with us fans.

Wael and Hani get your act together ...

  19. lub in order by overspending money on things behind the scenes that we cannot afford yet so the first team will suffer as the overall budget gets eaten up. That’s how it seems! I’d call that a reckless revolution and not an evolution - an evolution would mean actually getting something done on the stadium! It’s the only way we can evolve as without a bigger stadium and all the income that will bring we can’t afford to do more than what we were previously to this season. The UWE plan falling though has set us back 10 Years plus - and the nonchalance in letting the deal go down the pan and how it all came to light infuriated me and many others. We all know without a new ground we are doomed to drop again eventually as we are not sustainable. I understand we need a miracle for anything to happen quickly but all this speculating of takeovers etc is nuts and surely all unfounded. It’s a shame we need to lower our expectations when they were probably at their highest! We really need some communication from wael but his silence has been deafening. The blame lies solely with the al qadi family and hamer! Please just communicate and be honest with us! It would save many others a lot of unessessary sh*t! Everyone’s downer related to the club from fans to staff is down to them and they just need to communicate and show us some honesty and reassure us either way. We can take it on the chin! Remove the cloaks! At the next home game if weal attends ask him out right.

  20. Following the last few weeks on here full of threads containing rumours/facts, I decided to email our Chairman last night.

No doubt he would have been at Geoff Dunfords funeral today but replied to my email late this afternoon.

Please see the email below and please don't shoot me I'm only a messenger and have named my source!

    A Concerned Gashead.

    Wed 08/11/2017 1656.

    Good Afternoon David,

I appreciate your concern and in your email you highlight the reason, unsubstantiated rumours, on an internet related BRFC forum. Football clubs up and down the country are always subject to unfounded damaging leaks from either disgruntled people betraying their positions of trust whilst working within the Club and those, who might have left and wish to leave their dissatisfied mark!

I can assure you that the owners have no intention of relinquishing ownership and the steady rebuilding of the Club continues on and off the field. What we all wish for, is the team to find some more consistency on the field, which would make all of us a lot happier!

    Kind regards

    stadium will be built
