It's started already. Fans of other clubs are getting us mixed up with Arsenal.

OK, so it depends.
When we are talking about colourblindness and football kits what we are concerned about is whether someone with colourblindness is able to easily distinguish the players on one team from those on the other.
So, really any colour is ok - so long as it is distinguishable from the opposition. Even green could be ok, if the opposition were wearing something very different. In that case, white would probably be very good as the number of people unable to distinguish white form green will be very very few.
However, if you wear white when playing away to, say, Coventry or Man City, then there might be an issues as their often very light blue home kits could blend in with the white. There could also be an issue if a team wore a very light pink away to Fulham or Preston.
This is why the recommendation is often that a tema should try, so far as possible, to have one dark block kit - ie our red home kit, one light block kit - say a white away shirt, and then one third kit that is bright or otherwise distinctive - say a purple or a fluoro yellow.
That kind of design choice, coupled with the freedom to wear any kit at any time, should put clubs and officials in a position to really minimise the number of occasions each season where up to 10% of the watching fans have a less than optimal time.
If the rumours are true that we have a green away kit this season...well then we'd better have a bloody good third kit that we wear when away to Rotherham, Boro etc.
Cheers ExiledAjax that's really described it well, in fact judging from that the likes of Plymouth can continue at times to play in their traditional green as long as the opposition wear a kit, most likely white, that doesn't cause issues for the 10% with the condition.
This all seems sensible and fair to me and only requires a bit of cooperation and planning between clubs.

I just posted this on another thread in response to someone saying white is a no no due to colourblindness after someone suggested the away shirt would be white:
THE QUOTE; "Absolutely no chance given Colour blindness issues. I’d hope we weren’t that insensitive"
MY QUESTION; Serious question. Is white an issue for people with colourblindness? I know very little about this condition, never known anyone with it (by that I mean a friend or relative) so I am pretty much ignorant apart from being aware of the obvious red/green yellow/blue used in simple tests.
If white is a serious issue as I think you are saying, what colour kits are the best options. I guess the condition must vary so much for each individual its difficult to say but is white one of the worst options?

Like yourself I don't know much about the condition and rather like yourself I thought that white is a colour that is a good choice. As in American sports one team (usually the home team) wears white and in the Euros last year nearly every match one nation were playing in white to help, I was given to understand, with this condition. I understood that the problem is with green kits that look red to those with colour blindness

I honestly never heard anything about him. I stand corrected in his case then. Certainly nothing around where I sat, and I think he just about pre-dates the forum.
To back what Monkeh said Torpey was always the subject of a lot of spite near where I sat. I thought it was uncalled for as he was a hard working player who complimented Akinbiyi in a similar way to how Heskey complimented Owen. I got the impression it was because better strikers like Soren Anderson and Tony Thorpe were left out but as I said they didn't compliment Akinbiyi.

1970,1-0 home loss to Sheffield United, sat on railings area right side of open end as you look at the pitch.
My first match was against Sheffield Wednesday earlier that same season as a 7 year old. Next game was on my 8th birthday v Carlisle. But I also went to that Sheffield United game and I think it was that match that really impressed me about the drama and dynamics of football. Tony Currie scored the winner for Sheffield United and was blowing kisses at the East End as he celebrated. It stuck with me as there was all this hate and vitriol aimed at him from thousands of fans but he was blowing kisses at them having spoiled their day.

It will be a great shame if Scotland don't make it to the World Cup as it prevents us from the very real possibility of seeing a British side and their travelling supporters celebrating winning The World Cup (otherwise known North of the Border as getting a draw against England).

I can remember him collecting lottery money around Whitchurch and Hengrove many years ago.
Yes for Weston-super-Mare at the same time Mike Gibson was my postman, so had both the first two goalkeepers I saw playing for City knocking at my door.
I remember it was just as the law was introduced where keepers could no longer pick up a pass back and as Cashley started his career with City as a full back I said that he would be in his element if he was playing now. He totally agreed and said that he would've loved it.

Felt the whole game hinged on Orr's injury.

7 hours ago, richwwtk said:It was Orr's injury that cost us the game, and gave them the goal (in a way).
There's a very good OSIB interview wirh Bradley Orr where he talks about it.
At the time the goal went in he was badly injured and should have been subbed already.
If you watch the goal back (painful I know), you can see him try and block it and uninjured he probably would have but he was seeing treble at the time and tried to head the wrong ball! Probably just as well, as the doctors told him afterwards that, had he made contact, it may well have killed him.
I quite agree, it's always the Windass goal that gets mentioned, understandably, about that game. But it was the Orr injury that was the pivotal moment. Prior to his injury City were on top in the opening stages. Then when the injury occurred, Johnson didn't, as he should've, sub him straight away. In fact, he was off the pitch getting patched up for several minutes, leaving us a player short. It was then, against ten men, that Hull then gained the ascendancy for the first time especially Barmby getting more of the ball.
When Orr returned he wasn't right and during the few minutes he was back on, the goal was scored, before he was then subbed. It was an odd policy of Johnson's that season, to patch up injured key players and get them back onto the pitch rather than sub them straight away, even if it meant leaving us a player short for ten minutes or so! I don't know how long Orr was off the pitch on this occasion as haven't watched the game since, but it was several minutes and I recall a few weeks earlier when Adebola was injured away to Charlton, City played for about a dozen minutes a man less until Adebola returned to play.
In both instances it handed the initiative to our opponents when City had been on top in the games. In both cases City hadn't used their full compliment of substitutes. Obviously, the Orr injury was fairly early doors so no subs had been used.
I have frequently wondered what would've happened had Orr simply been substituted straight away as it was obviously a bad injury. Instead of then handing Hull the initiative by playing them with ten men for a prolonged period. I am not saying this with the benefit of hindsight as I was cussing about it when it happened.

Two 45min halves has worked quite well for 150 years
No real need to change it imo
It hasn't worked that well for Bristol City, ideally we need a 45 minute first half and a 44 minute second half.

Are you sure they weren't the university arm of Young Boys.
Just checked and they were formed in 1903 as Young Fellows of Zurich. Young Boys were also around prior to 1907 so my hunch they were an earlier form of Young Boys was incorrect

Some well known names there. Some of the others must be gone or merged by now.
I think Young Fellows became Young Boys a year or two later. I'm unsure as to whether Madrid FC were the forerunners of Real or Atletico

If there had been a European Champions League in the 1907-08 season, these would have been the qualifiers, the criteria being to finish Champions or runners-up in the national League of that country or in Spain's case, the cup winner and runner-up in the previous season:
Celtic
Dundee
RCF Paris
Roubaix
Freiburger FC
Viktoria Berlin
Servette
Young Fellows (Not to be confused with Scunthorpe United)
Madrid FC
Club Bizcaya
Ferencvaros
Magyar Atletikai Club
Milan (AC)
Torino
Newcastle United
Bristol City
I reckon we would've been joint favourites along with Newcastle United. Wouldn't have minded seeing Viktoria Berlin at the Gate as long as she didn't bring David.

England wore the yellow and blue kit when losing that World Cup Qualifier two nil in Poland in 1973. Reckon that was the death knell for it. Plus I think Alan Ball got sent off, so it was a night of infamy. But it is a great pity, as I agree, it was a lovely looking kit.

Completely forgot one of my heroes was playing that day for Grimsby. Paul Futcher. What a player he was when, in my youth, I supported Luton Town.
I seen the Futcher brothers/twins play for Man City v us at Ashton Gate, I think Deyna the Polish great played that day too.

way back in 1992 when the first ever league match featuring Bristol City was shown in a 4-3 win
Only two live games per Sunday were allowed so the big boys of television, Granada and Carleton always had their games picked
What live Bristol City game was shown later in the season on HTV only?
and what was other teams region that decided not to show the game?
I recollect that the game HTV elected to show later in the season was Bristol City 1 Grimsby 0. I think Nicky Morgan scored the winner.

I have every sympathy with Keynsham Town and their anger at the lack of assistance with their predicament. As a supporter of Mangotsfield United there's every possibility that next season they'll be relegated to the Western League. Some have said that they would prefer the Hellenic League due to the Cornish and Devon clubs in the Western League. But those I've talked to who have watched the Hellenic League have said that the standard is crap.

Fortunately City inserted a clause which means they can make this contract null and void at midday today.

Actually I thought Dicks tenure as manager was ended in 1980 not 1981 so it would make him a thirteen year old.
