Thanks for that, but its certainly news to  me.

Edit. Just looked at the format on Wiki and it doesnt make it clear, although it seems to imply that it is regionalized all the way through including a North South final.  Miah help please.

Well Rovers did lose to Sunderland in the semi finals last season ?

 sorry dont really pay attention to who's left in or out, but I do know they couldnt play Brighton as it's north v south in the final.

Sorry to say but you are wrong  it's  only the first two ko rounds (pus the group stages) which remain regionalised before an open draw from the quarter-finals onwards

Well in that case, any chants of that nature. If in doubt, don't sing!

Yet I am fairly convinced that chant is routine at Brighton games or has been recently- if it has now changed to all or nothing then we all know where we are.

It wasn’t that chant though was it?

Homophobic chants thing, could someone define and specify?

By which I mean, not so long ago I'm sure that 'Does your boyfriend know you're here' plus 'We can see you holding hands' would regularly get a few rounds v Brighton.

Guessing it was more offensive/serious than the above to make the news? Or have times changed again in even the last few years.

It has already been classified that it was more serious than that

Back to the "we can see you holding hands" - I doubt many people singing it thought it was homophobic whatsoever, if everyone is saying/thinking it is then so be it, but if someone was up in court for that I (myself) still cannot see how that is portrayed as being homophobic and think it would make headline news as being complete nonsense and a waste of money.

I think it's been pretty well established that this wasn't the only song being sung

I apologise. I too had earlier questioned whether he was indeed their greatest ever manager, but I forgot to take in to account #gaslogic in my calculations. I won't make that mistake again.

Why is there even a debate about it? He is without doubt their best manager since they have been in the Football League

    I beg to differ, Eddie.

I don't see much evidence of both clubs thriving in two-club cities. Yes, of course Liverpool and Manchester are exceptions to that but in Sheffield, Stoke, Nottingham and of course, Bristol there only few examples whereby the strength of one club actually galvanises their rival. In contrast, I think that there is only one club in each of the entire counties of Leicestershire, Norfolk and Suffolk yet they have been able, over time to gain promotion to the top division (in the case of Leicester even winning it) won cups and competed in European competitions.

God forbid but were SL to suffer a tragic accident such as that which afflicted the Leicester owner, we all know that in parts of north and east Bristol celebration parties would be held. Such nonsense happens in cities where support is polarised.

I happen to think that in Bristol, the progress of both clubs is impeded by the presence of the other. Rovers fans can tolerate losing provided we've lost too; we laugh long and hard at all of their very many plights and somehow that takes away some of the pain and frustration we feel from our own teams (lack of) performance. They want, not just a new ground, but one which has a capacity of +1 more than ours. It's the brinkmanship which helps neither club and holds them back.

It's the survival of the fittest as far as I'm concerned. Bristol will never support two successful football teams; there is barely room for one. If they die, we thrive eventually because that wouldn't necessarily happen immediately; it may take a generation but it's the best way forward. So I want them gone.

Strange argument you debunked Sheffield Nottingham and Stoke whilst bigging up Norfolk and Suffolk. All those places currently have clubs in the Championship and have played in the Premier League Won cups and played in Europe. I can’t see the difference between your two points
