I was very much in the ‘he is past his best’ camp. But then I’m not professionally trained in football. However, our management team are and should know if a player still has something left to give…

My thinking was that he probably needed one last new challenge, best for all that he got that, was looking a bit stale towards the end with us. I wish him well.

Funny thing, there’s a kernel of truth in there - the amount of houses going up in South Glos and expansion is large and will only continue.

Problem for them though, the days of a north/south split are dead.  And with no real way of tapping into that growing population they continue with an aging demographic with an inferior “product” to attract families.

    There is, but...

All clubs face a similar issue these days, getting people to shell out for individual match tickets when people can watch top flight football either free if they stream it, or by paying Sky.

Outside the top flight, you wonder how many completely new fans clubs get, excluding those going along with a parent.

Just over 7k at the Pisspoorial isn’t going to cover the repayments on the pay day loan used to build the new monument to pillars and corrugated iron.

Shit fan base, full of weirdos.

So they took more away to Blackpool (when the gate was 8100, but they accounted for 8000 of them, apparently), than they managed at home.

Did 2 zero man decide to go or did the BBC just feel it was time for a change? I thought he just decided he’d had enough and was retiring?!

I was under the impression that a lot of regional broadcasters were faced with reapplying for their roles or taking a redundancy package, if you were Geoff's age, what option would you take?

  5. Can't help but think that the acts have been chosen because a decision maker has these particular artists as their personal favourite and expected lots of other people to like them as well.

If we were all to curate our own 2 stage, 1 day festival I'd be surprised if anyone on here all picked the same acts, but I'd wager than enough of us would pick bands/performers that would get people to think... 'Hmm, I've not heard of all of them, but the theme of the music is up my street, so I'd be up for that'.

I'm losing track, but are these amongst the players Tinnion was raving about at the Hen and Chicken Q&A? Not the recent Q&A but the one with Pearson and Gould? Wasn't it something like "If you think Alex Scott is good just wait until you see what's coming along in the next batch"

No idea! But if we add Dylan Kadji (sp?) In to the mix as well, we could see the club releasing players that NP used (either out of necessity or because they were ready) less than 12 months after their involvement with the first team squad.

And if they do come back from a pre season, then their pathway is seemingly blocked.

Happened about 2.30pm - was caught in the queue but turned around when the two fire engines turned up and blocked the road 😬 There were also lots of police & ambulances

Any idea if this is before or after Bridge Valley Road? (Based on a journey that would use Bridge Valley on the way to BS3)

  8. The limited routes of the AG bus services are quite frustrating, I'm sure if the club under took a comprehensive travel survey they'd be quite encouraged by those who'd like to use more public transport, if it was available - they might even be able to profit from a scheme.

There are fans in Longwell Green, Kingswood, Gloucester Road, Keynsham who all have to take multiple busses to get to BS3 on a match day which come with additional challenges getting home - so the default setting for a lot of people is to take the car.

Looks like they're about to lose Collins to Bolton for £750k. A player Joey Barton valued at £5 million.

He has been rubbish for last 12 months though, clearly disgruntled since not getting a transfer away and who can blame him.

He'll get the international call up he craves when he moves away from the Fewers.

Referees are not allowed to use common sense, they HAVE to adhere to the laws of the game, that’s it.

If a player does the same next week and doesn’t get booked, I’ve no doubt you will be complaining about inconsistency.

I think it was Billy Sharp who was at Sheff Utd at the time who played the day after his son had died - Billy scored a goal and lifted his shirt to reveal a message dedicating the goal to his lad.

If memory serves, both the opposition manager and the ref were aware of his loss and his intention that if he did score, he'd be making a tribute statement. Neither the ref nor the manager wanted to see the player punished if that happened. He never got booked.

    Common sense.

According to Pete O'Rourke only Bolton are in for Collins. Said that despite reports Charlton & Wrexham not interested. Wasn't he valued at over £5m by Barton.....

I have read that Charlton, Wrexham and Bolton are all interested and that both Charlton and Bolton have had bids rejected.

Now, ordinarily when a player is in demand, the price goes up as the selling club generate a bit of a bidding war. Why do I think that the Fewers will be the first club in the world to have a Dutch Auction for their player, where the club say 'right, we want a million... and then keep bringing the price down until someone blinks'.
