Blackburn and Wigan coming up .... tough opponents for City in the Championship next season especially with some pretty decent teams coming down with their parachutes!  Unlike the rest of you, I went to the Mem today.  Brilliant atmosphere ... old fashioned terrace .. unlike the now sanitised Ashton Gate as my son said.  And those who talk about the 45,000 whatever.  Remember the ground up in Whorefield is always 95% full.

I’m more worried about mighty Shrewsbury who beat you 4-0 and 2-1.  Big club Shrewsbury.

Forgot to say, they unfortunately came up against a better team in the next round, drawing at home, followed by a defeat in the replay at Bellevue, to a better more famous "Rovers" in, Doncaster Rovers.

Do Doncaster Rovers have any connection to Doncaster United who, according to the sag’s hospitality dept, they played only recently.

    They have always been deluded.

Every dog has his day and, every team has an off day. Fair play to them for seeing off MUFC on what was a quagmire of a pitch, sixty odd years ago.  How they managed to play on that I don't know.

During the era of the maximum wage.  Soon as that was lifted and Rovers had to compete commercially their decline into obscurity went into a tail spin.

What really galls Scum fans is not that we are doing so well after a couple of extremely trying seasons (although obviously that doesn't help) but all the positive attention we're receiving -- our style of play, the GIFs, our passionate support, the success of the Academy, our well-run club, our celebrity supporters, the whole shebang.

Back in the day there wasn't much to choose between the clubs but we've kicked on while they've floundered on and off the pitch. 1990, laid to rest, we won the title while they finished second - in the Conference. Their saviour - who was going to at least restore parity - has turned out to be an utter charlatan.

Previously the only straw they could clutch at was that they were somehow the cuddly toy of Westcountry football, whereas we were disliked by all and sundry. I remember some clown called "Centenary Gas" talking about how "not even Millwall" invaded the pitch to attack players, like somehow our fans were the worst on the planet. Bristol City were somehow the bete noir of the whole footballing world, we've got unlimited money to spend - a gaping hole blown through that theory when we come up against a club who really do fall into that category and hold our own.

They feel some desperate need to believe, "Well, they've left us in the dust but at least we are likable." It's a prejudice they've invested everything in, and it's all come crashing down around their ears.

I let that screed of squid ink and lies from that truly objectionable individual on the Man City forum get under my skin a bit last night, and in the cold light of day you can understand why they're so bitter. They've got nothing left, nothing.

I can’t like this post enough.  We are superior to them in every tangible way, so they invented an intangible delusion that they’re “more liked” than us.  The recent blaze of good quality PR has burst that particular illusion and as you said they’re left with absolutely nothing to hang on to.  Hence the childish tantrums and the dredging up ad nauseum of events of nearly 40 years ago.  I’d feel sorry for them if they weren’t such a dispicible rabble.

The opposite of love is not hate, its indifference and that’s what the footballing  world feels towards them.  Utter indifference.

"People being all nice about 1982 obviously haven't done any research at all on their horrible record of violence, it's still the 1970's in and around that stadium on match days. Wonder how that Wolves supporter is who was hospitalised back in April? Will never apologise for saying this so often, it's a disgrace that they are allowed to use the crest of our City."

    Ummm, Racism, boob cricket,horse punching,attacking opposition players,headbutting vans,attacking women and children ,,,,, shall i go on ?

Shame this knobhead doesn't show any concern for the man whose skull was factured by Bristol Rovers player David Pipe in an unprovoked attack which resulted In Pipe being detained at Her Majesties Pleasure for 38 months.

its a disgrace that they are allowed to use the name Bristol.  Should go back to being called Eastvile Rovers or admit to their racist roots and revert to the Black Arabs.

Just spent the last 45 mins scouring the Internet to read all of the compliments about us. Had a gander on sagchat and pains me to say it but they're being very fair to us. I think in some ways it's a victory for real football fans v prem plastics.

    Give it a day anyways....

I love taking the piss out of the gas, but agree, tonight's not a night to be rubbing their noses in it.
