  1. @Littlesh*t If you are referring to the Ashton Gate pitch, we have had football and rugby on it since the new pitch was introduced about six years ago. Have you seen it "cut up" at any time because me and many thousands of other City and Bears have not. It is among the very best pitches in the country, superbly designed and maintained to an amazing standard by the ground staff.
  2. My eyes are damp at this news. I always thought of him as Liverpool's version of Atyeo. He played hard and fair with much more skill than he received credit for. I saw him a couple of times at Leicester City and Chelsea. Condolences to his family.
  3. Yes he could but when do they actually add enough? One should also remember that a team is at it's most vulnerable of conceding, immediately after they score. Take a couple of minutes to go to the lad with our players itching to get going again without delay. Followed by a slow walk back to positions and the last one to do that is always a striker who wanders across the centre circle - 20 yards of further delay.
  4. @Davefevs I knew that I would get some flack and be labelled cynical and to an extent you are correct. If the Fulham team wanted to acknowledge the boy, they could have arranged it to be during their warm up or immediately after the game ended. Not during the game. Clubs and players now use every method of breaking up the rhythm of the game especially when they are leading. It's overdone already!
  5. You should not fall for that event. It's just another clever way of time wasting and delaying the restart of the match. Players are only allowed to leave the pitch during a match with the permission of the referee. Taking a corner, goal kick or throw in is not leaving the pitch.
  6. I stand corrected by others that a save by a keeper still leave the player offside. So a big chunk of good fortune due to a visually challenged assistant referee, or Linesman as we all know them as. About time we got a break or two so add Mitrovic's abysmal finishing in the last few minutes.
  7. We clearly are not spending enough on the quality of recruited players. Poor display today and would not be surprised if we sink again at the end of the season, unless better players are brought in.
  8. Why the negative view? He is young enough to learn and improve. A solid home debut and for a small fee, we have filled another weak spot. He'll make mistakes but will improve.
  9. As one who goes back to the Atyeo days, when Big John scored goals for fun without ever hurting a fly let alone big defenders, I wonder if his fifteen years of "Playing in a sporting manner" has been an influence on how we play. Many City fans voice their disgust at the cheats like Warnock and their sides are here. Remember the ten minutes with a Rotherham player and serious head injury, followed by running straight back onto the pitch. Pearson is correct. The game has changed and we must be more assertive than we have been for a long time. It doesn't mean cheating but a more legal aggressive attitude will prove beneficial to our performances and results.
  10. There were two City players in offside position as the shot was made by a third City player in the lead up to the goal. I think I'm correct that as soon as their keeper saved the shot, then those two become onside again because the ball then comes from the opposition not a City player. A bit like the goal about three years ago when Taylor Moore headed a ball to a clearly offside opponent behind him.
  11. Great effort by everyone in "The Team" By that I mean the playing squad, coaches, supporters, backroom medical staff, kit man and the one who hasn't used the first person singular since he arrived, preferring the first person plural instead. He is the one who is running the show but one who is happy for everyone else to take the glory!
  12. He weren't bad today, was he?
  13. Football is a funny old game. Palmer in under 23's earlier this week got a minus 5 out of ten from me. And then today he is the hero fir squeezing in the equalizer. 110% effort from everyone.
  14. How about a return to more sensible wages instead of selling our football club's souls?
  15. About time that this has been formed to benefit former players and supporters. Well done Messrs Palmer and Gould.
  16. @Moments of Pleasure Not often you get it right and you got it wrong again. ?
  17. Sorry @Hampshire Red but you must live on another planet. We've had bumbling managers and senior staff members and players who weren't very good but, to the best of my knowledge, only two who apparently have knowingly misbehaved for their own benefit. One was Tony Dance and the other is the mist inaptly named MA. I doubt that SL will ever publicly admit how much he was "taken for a ride". Fortunately it may take us a while to recover but I and many others have faith in Pearson, even if he's grumpy sometimes with media people, Gould and Dave Rennie.
  18. NO. More likely to sing Drink up thy zider or Blackbird but only after the game. The Chant of Bristol, Bristol again and again can get quite atmospheric at times. Even at Bears games, there are too many there just for the "Afternoon/evening" out and lots of beer.
  19. Because that is the way it usually happens at City. Even in Cotterills champions season, we lost at home to Preston and Sheffield United! The two games we needed and wanted to win and we blew them. Just like the Wolves match just after Christmas. 1-0 up against ten men and we fxxxxd up. Our goalie got sent off, Pack didn't put the ball in Row ZZ and we lose with last kick. I've seen it all before and since. 1960 fighting relegation, Atyeo put City 2-1 up with one minute to go. Final score City 2 Huddersfield 3. Two weeks later we are down. 1989-90 we are strolling to the Third Division championship only to blow up and give it to the renters in Bath. We are a medium to large club in waiting. Always overtaken by the rest like Burnley, Leicester, Stoke, Southampton, Fulham, QPR, now Brentford and would anyone bet on Ipswich making it back to the Prem before us?
  20. This post is not a moan about Pearson and the current squad. Atmosphere only comes when there is something to trigger it. We've had three seasons before Pearson arrived, of the most boring, negative football that I can remember seeing at Ashton Gate. Even seven relegations in my time were hard to swallow but at least those players were trying to win. So as the entertainment sank, so did our vocal involvement. While the quality of football has been better this season, we have only scored one home goal and haven't won since January or was it February. I and many others are hopeful that it will get better and we get wins and entertainment in home games. But it remains hope and until we get used to winning again, the crowd will thinking "What can go wrong today". By the way, I will be at the game tomorrow, the first one since January 2020. With my luck, I'll probably see a defeat and catch the bloody Covid. COYREDS!
  21. I think I remember seeing on net that it was Pearson who approached Lansdown direct. Don't know if my memory is correct but if so his coming did not involve the unmentionable.
  22. I have not seen City play live since January 2020. In the two years before then, I, and many others, could see that there was a problem. Negative tactics, lots of long term injuries were papered over by wins scraped more by luck than judgment. Even the recruitment of a top quality manager, NP, was not enough to bring a quick recovery. We survived being relegated by a whisker and Pearson had openly admitted this. So I find it amazing that some City fans are so critical about the performances and results this season to date. A home draw against PNE is a disappointing result? For the last ten years, Preston have always won or drawn our matches with them. So is a no score draw today, the disastrous result that some are saying? Definitely not, I would say. No goals conceded and a draw that gives us two very close defeats, two draws and two away wins. To have lost only 33% of our games so far is an achievement. We are improving, not as quickly as some would like, but we are doing OK in our attempt to consolidate our place in this league. Well done squad. Keep fighting.
