  1. Yes I do after tonight. So much talent, pace and strength but sadly lacking with his final pass or shot. A dull game but I'll take the three points as it takes us nearer safety. Rest up boys and don't let Ipswich get too cocky.
  2. This match will not be as easy as some are thinking. Definitely not a given home win unless we work very hard on the pitch and in the stands to ensure three points.
  3. Pride comes before etc......... Take nothing for granted, we have to stay fully focussed, concentrate and then we'll get our reward.
  4. It's always good to read realistic comments from opposing fans. An enjoyable match that Derby contributed to until half time. Derby will play worse and win and we'll play better and lose. That's what makes this league so interesting.
  5. Totally agree that those of us who went to see the reserve and youth teams, could see what was developing. But many fans who only watched the first team struggling to survive then, were similarly minded to those present supporters who also are only concerned with the league team and demanded immediate action rather than a building slowly process. The major difference between the two eras is that we now have social media for all to join in. In the past similar things were said in pubs, buses to and from the ground and the Saturday evening queue for the Green 'Un.
  6. You have to give youngsters time. Do you think Gerry Gow was given "legend" status in his early days. My goodness, he was raw but we could see the talent. If any Academy player can get 6-10 starts in a season early on in their career, it pays dividends later when they become established. Look at it this way, everyone on here knows my views on LJ, but would you prefer that he played a thirty year old reserve, if we had such a thing, or helped another youngster on the pathway to maturity? The answer is a no brainer. And ask all his team mates how Zak did today and they'll be singing his praises because they went through the sort of game he had at the start of their careers. Take the positives from it and work on the things not done so well.
  7. Thanks. He will take time to adjust to the extra pace and quality. And Joe was injured late on so it could be that we go to Molineux with Vyner and Kelly at full back. We got three points today however Vyner played and that is three more than I expected from Reading and Wolves. Let's be positive after a good away win at a tough place to get points. COYREDS
  8. I don't understand why someone earlier has picked out Zak Vyner as being the weak link. I wasn't there but from commentary he was a reasonable deputy for Pisano. Anyone there who could give us more info?
  9. Brilliant result and performance. Well done everyone, including the coaching team and the fans!
  10. Vyner will be ok and it's good that the u23 right back is picked instead of shuffling players out of position. Interesting selection of Brownhill in central midfield.
  11. Your match day post is always of interest Havana. It really does put a little game of football into perspective although I, like thousand's of other City fans will forget all of the reality for a couple of hours. The only country that I've been to is the Dominican Republic where I spent two days inside a Unilever factory. The poverty I saw then is probably the same now so while one could say they have nothing except their lives to lose, the victims of these events will lose everything. Makes our lives seem so comfortable doesn't it. Three points for us today? Who knows. What will be, will be.
  12. Back in the days before Millwall fans gained notoriety, the club produced two goalkeepers both of whom treated City fans to magnificent displays at The Gate. Alex Stepney later to win a European Cup winners medal for Man U in 1967 and Bryan King who went on to play at Coventry City. If you have another one as good as these in today's squad Millwall, please leave him to enjoy his Saturday in Bermondsey!
  13. IMO, the problem is that all three of the coaching staff are rookies at managing games at this level. To change two midfielders for two wingers at the same time smacks of inexperience to me. We should have gone for a point at 1-1 and not gung ho for three. By doing the cautious route, it's still possible to snatch a win on the break. The odd goal defeats syndrome must be stopped immediately.
  14. To sign another ten or twelve like last summer. We're sitting pretty after two games? Three points above the relegation zone! We have just lost another game from a leading position. What's different? There is a lot of tongue in cheek in these comments but to say we're sitting pretty is just burying one's head in the sand. What will Tuesday evening bring? More of the same? Or actually start hanging on to points and don't start the Christmas Club in August.
  15. Straws / at / clutching. Re-arrange to make sense.
  16. The first time I saw the Wolves play was at Cardiff City circa 1952/3. they wore those lovely Old Gold shirts, a mixture of red, gold and brown. Captained by Billy Wright they were then what Man U were a few years back and what Chelsea are now. The best team in the English League. The next time a year or so later was the first match under the new Ashton Gate floodlights when the colours had changed to a glossy yellow to make them more visible under lights. At that time I wanted to be a goalkeeper so another chance to see Bert Williams the England number one at the time. Fast forward to 1965 in Big John's last season and an honourable draw at Molineux on Boxing Day. At home the next evening under another new set of floodlights, with only four giant towers replacing the miniature ones dotted along the touchline, we lost at home 0-1. And so to today. What will we do? Lose again? I really hope not but fear the worst.
  17. The OP about wolves in the wild is of interest to me because having lived for eight years (2005-2013) in central Portugal, I became aware of the significant recovery in numbers of the Iberian Wolf, a marginally smaller version of the Grey Wolf. Their habitat is mostly in Northern Spain from Galicia across to Catalonia and to the south of Galicia in Northern Portugal. Friends even saw them in the central region that we lived in about 150km north of Lisbon. The increase in numbers is due mainly to a constant supply of food created by the annual dumping of around 80,000 unwanted dogs by Spaniards and Portuguese. The recent recovery in the Championship by today's visitors to Ashton Gate is due in part to their ability to glean points on the road and I fully expect that The Wolves will gorge themselves at our expense this afternoon. Whether to the same severity as Preston did remains to be seen, but demolish us they will even though "Bully" is now far too old a wolf to go a-hunting.
  18. I believe that you are right about Carey in the past. I am also beginning to realise that the current situation isn't due to"dressing room" power but lies elsewhere. I'm still not sure where but there aren't too many options.
  19. You'll more than likely be right but I have a horrible feeling that LJ will change his tactics yet again and go gung ho attack from the start as he is desperate for a win. Wigan then pick us off on the break and give us a real pasting. I can only hope that my negative outlook is totally wrong and we bring the points home instead.
  20. Not in my living memory Tony Ford, Jack Connor, Gordon Low, Alec Briggs, Terry Bush, John Atyeo, Brian Clark all over 6ft
