  1. Hello @BigTone. They never leave you because good parents leave good children who will never forget them. My parents both died around forty years ago and together with my first wife who passed on twenty years ago, I often think of them. They would not want you to not live your life to the full because they are no longer alive. You never get over it but time is a healer and so remember the good times you had with them. Always feel free to pm me if you want.
  2. What a first half. Compares with some of the Babas exhibition games for try scoring, initiative and running rugby. If only City could entertain like this.
  3. @Midred I believe that sudden mood swings are not unusual with many people. Sometimes, I feel really up and very gregarious. Like speaking to total strangers on trains or at football matches. Then there is the other side of me when I go right in my shell. A party when I sit and don't say a word to anyone while all others are laughing, joking and drinking. I walk the dog or listen to music. My favourite is Wagner; dark stories but superb music that after taking one down can then lift the spirits back to normal.
  4. The type of player that we could do with now - a leader who led by example and a very good footballer. Thanks Bobby.
  5. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! Brilliant display.
  6. Keep battling on and as you said, keep grinning. Life isn't a rehearsal so make the most of your's and your family's as best you can. Feel free to Personal mail to if you want.
  7. He didn't go back for a forward pass that led to a Saints try. Four very good points. Oh, and watching BT, I thought from the commentators, that only one team were on the pitch. Saints, Saints and more Saints!
  8. Quote: "The other thing that is really important is (being) socially aware. We are not all from Bristol, we're not all from England, we're not all white, we're not all black, we're not all brown. We are all individuals and as I said to the boys what we are living here, we are a great example of how the world can be a better place. I have said look at all the backgrounds we have here, look at all the different educations that people have had, no one really cares because ultimately it is about respecting, appreciating and valuing everyone and I love it." I know it isn't football but the Head Coach of Bristol Bears is very close to all of us in Bristol and Bristol City FC. What a leader of people!
  9. European (second tier who cares) CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantastic end to a very good season. BristolBears for ever.
  10. The virus, two seasons of Johnson dross and now a seemingly long drawn out search for the next manager. What's the odds we get another up and coming Fourth Division starlet? I am beginning to believe that I will never come back to Ashton Gate again. Even though I have already paid for my ST.
  11. This is rich, telling us about the spelling of Darwen. From the one who lives in an aerial of Bristol? ?
  12. For me the season has ended because, unless a vaccine makes a miraculous appearance, I do not want to put my life and my wife's life at greater risk than the present situation. And while I've already bought for next season, I don't expect to go. My only visits to places like supermarkets are a bi-weekly shopping trip. We get as much delivered as possible and stay well away from others when dog walking. I'll miss my friends at City and Bears but it's not worth the risk.
  13. Is she? With daily death numbers over 400, that is at least 3,000 per week. Do you consider that this is acceptable? And if so, would this number increase quickly if the current lockdown rules were relaxed? It appears to me that a relaxation now, is based on economics over health.
  14. The selfishness, greed and don't give a damn about anyone else is showing how uncaring we have become as a nation. This is totally different to how we were during the second World War. People looking out for each other, helping others was a way of life that is sadly no longer with us. Reportedly, the Italians have shown that they can cope with a disastrous time without resorting to greed and selfishness. Those who bought trolley loads of toilet rolls need to learn to share the pain!
  15. Firstly Robbored, this is not aimed at you personally. If your age is what I think it is, over 70?, you should already be considering what you do now. And for those under 60,, please consider all like me because, while you may have a few days off work and make a full recovery, in the early stages of your illness, you will be lethal to the elderly. You may be in good health for your age as I am. No respiratory problems like asthma, blood pressure normal, not diabetic and so on. Able to walk three or four miles without feeling any discomfort at all. I can you run up the stairs to my seat in Ashton Gate in row 25 without collapsing in a heap. In July I will have completed 77 years, which means that I am going to suffer this virus much more than if I was 40 or 50. My wife, 69 years, is asthmatic, and she was told this week that this is not considered as "underlying health problems". But I've seen her suffering badly with only a heavy cold. So if I catch it, I am almost certain to pass it on to her. Without being morbid, we could both be dead in next six to eight weeks. We are not in total isolation but are not taking part in our normal things like table tennis, line dancing, swimming, craft classes, football and rugby. We are now shopping early am and late pm in supermarkets when the place is not jammed with people. Using small local shops instead. and even not stopping for a friendly conversation with everyone we meet while dog walking. We may be over-reacting. But a more cautious approach to our live style for the next few months is a small price to pay to extend our stay on this planet for a while longer. I have just renewed my ST. Can my descendants get a refund if I pop my clogs?
  16. I consider that you are acting sensibly. My wife is asthmatic and I am nearly 77 now. The flu or even heavy colds may not kill us, but would leave us a lot weaker and much more susceptible to the Covid-19. And thus with much less resistance. So thanks to everyone who is taking the cautious route at present. Get well soon. @RedDave
  17. I was at the Reading game when City fans smuggled in some pick axes and started demolishing the terrace. Terry Cooper went to that end and pleaded with them to stop. The reply was short and sharp:- You sort the football and we'll sort the coppers! Scary times. Same season, we were kept in at Stockport after the match, only for the law to allow home fans to leave the ground by walking along side of pitch, in front of us. They all hurled coins at us, luckily wife and I didn't connect with any of them.
  18. FC Deportivo Galicia? In North Western Spain or a club of Spanish migrants to South East England?
  19. Yes, if my info years ago was correct. The tram system was powered from a generator in the building in Counterslip, which runs from Victoria Street to Temple Way. It was bombed and the whole system was shut down as a result. Never to return!
  20. Replaced by Wigan, Salford, Macclesfield. Stockport also on the road to recovery?
  21. I've been thinking the same for some weeks. Really puzzled why they went for Salford rather than Bury.
