Going big apparently?! Strange lot on that forum

    "The question is about finance.
New builds exclude VAT. Refurbishment or extensions (eg Ashton Gate) are liable for VAT. It might be our interest to go for the larger capacity now. As I say this will be down to the financing.

Also one other point - the orginal design allows upto 35000. This was before safe standing.

I believe that we will see anouncement of about 28k including safe standing with an option to go to 35k."

    The Gift.

Again I don't care about that we've gone up 2 leagues that's good in most peoples eyes except for a lot of city fans on here ..fairplay to those that congratulated us , the rest have been nothing other than bitter . DC is our hero .. Now awaiting a torrent of abuse ... tick-tock ..

    Bitter about what exactly?

So we done it! Can't believe it really and still in shock. I know to you lot it's just little league one but after relegation from the league things could have got much worse but we came back so much stronger. Yesterday was one of the most dominant games I've ever saw and it really had the feeling to it that Accrington would slip up but so would we.

I guess now is the time to see if Wael is as good as we all hope, one thing is for sure and he can't do a worse job than Higgs managed!

Keeping hold of DC will be key, he's not had the budget the likes of Buckle, McGhee and Ward had in league 2 and something like 16 of our squad were part of the conference squad and he built a squad that really played for eachother, and there was really no stand out players, everyone just worked their socks off and played for the shirt.

So basically it's 2007/08 all over again with City being in the Championship and Rovers in League One. I feel we're better prepared for it this time but I would snap your hands off if we were offered 20th now. Your season will be interesting and I know it's way too early to be making predictions but if you recruit well I can see you having a good go next season. Both of us will be fending off offers for our top striker and you no doubt have the money to say no, I'm just hoping we do too now!

Isn't your 'star' striker out of contract though?

There we go again, another stereotypical assumption that all us Rovers fans think the chairman is going to spend millions...I don't for a moment. He's a businessman and will take his cut where he can..now where that comes from who knows. We'll have to go up first, and then there won't be any more income to pick the bones from. As for Taylor v's kodjia- close call, Taylor seems to be getting better all the time, and as you are the only 'billiionaires' outside the premier league no doubt you'd offer for him..cost you a few camels mind....

    Kodjia v Taylor?

No wonder nobody takes you lot seriously.

Looks like it is full steam ahead for the new stadium ....

    • currently trying to resolve "a few issues"
    • take their time to get the planning phase of the project right.
    • currently in talks with UWE
    • the possibility of building a "world-class" stadium
    • Rovers have yet to reveal whether they have plans to alter initial blueprints
    • make sure that we have everything we need in place before we start the implementation phase
    • There has been a few issues discovered that they are trying to resolve

What could possibly go wrong? ....answers on a postcard to Wally at The Mem

    Same shit different week.

On Saturday before our game against Crawley I had my normal pre match pint(s) in the Civil Service club, surrounded by friends who I see at every home game. One of them was John, normally there with his son Paul, both good friends of mine through AEK Boco & Rovers. He explained that Paul was on a charity bike ride, and would be joining us later.

Sadly, tragically, Paul collapsed and died on the ride, he was just 42 years old. John is broken hearted, as are the mother, brothers and children he left behind.

Paul was one of the good guys, upbeat, always positive and Rovers through & through. Pre match pints at Rovers, and watching kids matches at Boco will never be quite the same again, but I suppose the  best we can ever hope for, is that we make a positive contribution during our short time on earth, and Paul certainly did that.

    Very well said Miah.

As a AEK Boco player myself I didn't really know Paul that well but from what I did know of him and from what the younger lads have said, he was a diamond who they all looked up to having grown up with him as their manager to one of the best Boco teams ever.

    RIP Paul

Easy to sell out when you're doing well.  I notice they hadn't sold out a game until they went into the auto spots.  Us on the other hand have been selling out while having an absolute stinker of a season and flirting (still) with relegation.   I'd be more impressed if they could sell out under similar circumstances..but they wouldn't.

Tbf to em didn't they sell out on that beautiful day in May 14' to have a party at the Mem to celebrate FL survival?

Also they have 'sold out' once this season to a Jordanian 'billionaire'
