  1. Where have you got this from? We knew a week ago we'd bid 1.5 million from an online forum. I'm sure its common knowledge in football circles.
  2. You've preemptively answered what I was going to say. We also have Pring who does exactly that at our level. We now have Roberts as back up who may also have the ability to do that 'if that's what Nigel needs' as we just don't know. What I do know is that Tins and Nige know how they want to play and have or are identifying players that play the system they want. Not all teams are going to play this system your referring to with marauding fullbacks and that specific skillset. There isn't just one way to be successful. Again I think your oversimplifing the matter. Its all about balance in the team.
  3. Think your oversimplifing 'best teams' and how they operate. It all depends on style of play. I know some successful teams go for the high press but not all have marauding fullbacks or wingbacks i.e Dan Burn at Newcastle. Also how do you know McCrorie can't do that?
  4. Bit of a shame as he was the sought after player from the efl last year and we never got to properly see him in action. However we've done the right thing and cashed in whilst he has some value especially if NP can't see him breaking into the team. Least were being proactive with moving players on rather than letting them stagnate and going for free. Also potentially we may have a sell on if he does well and moves on for decent money.
  5. Not sure, wouldn't be surprised if a Prem team had bid 40/45 already for him. He's been a good player for 3/4 seasons consistently and still at a decent age. Same with the fees quoted for Maddison.

  7. Your bang on imo. Think they've not understood the process and reinterpreted Romano's tweet.
  8. Course he's a good player, he's 21 but already played 100 games in the Championship and half a season in Ligue 1. Yet his mind has been elsewhere for a long while. Shame but we move on!
  9. Hoping its Burnley for the sake of money.
  10. Some posters are getting over sensitive on their end however it is a weird thing to do. That supposed city fan posting on Derbys forum is getting his information from OTIB but posting on their forum straight away however he hasn't posted here in 10 years apparently. Does come across like he is being smug if I'm honest. If he wanted to discuss the player that's fine but we have a 5 page topic discussing in detail exactly that.
  11. Wonder if transfermarkt puts Max in the foreigner list because his nationality is Irish on his profile. That would skew the percentages abit if so.
  12. So this explains it. Knew this was in the offing but didn't think it would come into place so quickly. Thanks I was completely baffled by Sunderlands recent signings. Great now I can waste hours looking at obscure leagues for hidden gems that I think we should sign but won't sign.
  13. I agree, potentially Derby have offered more money or a promise of more playing time. If he goes there instead I'm glad were sticking to our guns and not offering more wages or promises to the player just to get him to sign. Were very early in the window so plenty of times to access other options.
  14. In that case all my comments about him looking like a decent player are null and void. If he signs for Derby he's crap ?
  15. It's your opinion so I respect that however what a bleak outlook you convey. You maybe right and time will tell but let's look at the signings we've made so far. McCrorie - Named player of the year the season before last, Scotland international, reportedly beat West Brom to his signature and has plenty of experience to bolster a couple of positions. Dickie - Past player of the year at Oxford and then onto QPR again player of the year mixed success thereafter due to QPR's decline, reportedly was a target for Premier league clubs not too long ago with a value of 10 mil, again plenty of experience. Roberts - Represented England at multiple youth ages, Good academy background and Derby fans seem gutted we've snapped him up. These all are in the building and its the middle of June. I agree we do need more creativity or energy but we've definitely improved the team so far.
  16. To be fair that's a good point. I'm not completely sure if we can rely on Bajic or HWR solely down to having not watched much of Bajic and reportedly he's not done the best on loan, and only watching fleeting matches of Harvey in youth games. Not saying their not good enough I just really don't know. I've only asked for one player to be picked but if I could choose another I'd probably sign a goalkeeper next having thought about it.
  17. We haven't had a poll on here for a while but I'm interested in what position fans would go for next assuming HR has signed and AS stays or gets replaced. I've seen alot of posters wanting Kalas to sign and although he won't cost a fee, his wages will. I understand this as Kalas is arguably the best on his day however I think we're more than covered in that area. If we only had one more signing I would go for a box to box CM with some offensive output. Someone who can receive the ball and burst forward with the ball and create something. What position would you go for?
  18. I know your giddy for more signings but he's already said yesterday that he thinks this is a no go and that's why we're going for Haydon Roberts. I'm sure if he hears differently he'll post it.
  19. I've been watching some clips of Roberts. Firstly its hard to gauge a player on the limited bits I've seen so take this with a pinch of salt however I'll give my take. He's definitely smaller in stature than your conventional CB (if played there) although has got a deceptively good leap. If played at LB/LWB he seems to win more headers. Has decent feet and can play in tight spaces, can dribble with the ball. When dribbling when played as a CB he has good acceleration to burst into midfield. When dribbling as a LB/LWB he seems to feint that he's going to recycle possession back to other defenders or the goalkeeper and spin the opposing attacker who is pressing. Seems to drift inside quite alot but can also burst down the wings, when he gets into space I think he needs to work on crossing earlier as he has a tendency to hit the player attempting to block when pressed. Pace wise he looks quicker than Dasilva but less than Pring. When tackling he seems to avoid going to the ground and remains on his feet. Doesn't seem like a push over and plays with a little bit of an edge. All in all I think he has all the tools to do well with us. You can see he's come from a decent academy and although he has things to work on he already has very good attributes.
  20. Think it's four days after the UEFA competition finals. So hopefully will see something during this week.
  21. Don't think 37 games the season before last is 'utterly shit' if your talking about the last couple of seasons.
  22. Do we even need him 'if' Robert signs would be my question. We will potentially have Pring, Atkinson, Roberts, Naismith, Dickie, Vyner and McCrorie and a back up of youngsters to battle for two centre back positions for the season. Would rather use the money for a CM to be honest.
  23. Sorry but this is just not true, Brexit has no bearing on prospective owners buying clubs, that's down to them going through the ownership and directors' test, which is ensure that individuals taking ownership of a club meet the necessary requirements and are suitable to be involved in the running of a football club. The ownership and directors test looks at factors such as their financial standing, criminal record, and previous involvement in football or other sporting organisations. Unfortunately this still doesn't stop unscrupulous buyers getting through on occasions and causing havoc at certain clubs. If your talking about worrying US investment look no further than our care home providers that are paid by our own tax money but then are sold to US investment firms who provide care at the cheapest rate to the detriment of our elderly and claim they don't make profit to avoid tax although provide heavy interest payments to other subsidiary companies. This has been going on pre or post Brexit.
