  1. I think this fixture will be repeated next season.
  2. He literally looks lost out there and it’s not exactly a high standard around him!!
  3. Danny Drinkwater should be locked up. Theft of a living.
  4. It's a bit like a dodgy cricket pitch...........don't judge until both sides have batted on it. Same with this wind I reckon.
  5. The positive for me is the last remnants of the previous staff's recruitment policy is slowly but surely disappearing.
  6. We'd be lucky to get £250K for him imo, Particularly when you factor in his wages.
  7. That's somewhere near £15K per week of wages there.............................
  8. The main reason being that, nice bloke that he is, he's nowhere near consistent Championship standard. Did you watch him last week? He put in a performance that makes Vyner look like Beckenbauer.......
  9. Financially there is a better case scenario but it weakens the squad.
  10. Yep, a mistake but a relatively low cost one that is easily put right. If you want to know what a proper mistake is take a look in the direction of KP45.................and to a smaller degree a few other players who we might struggle to move on in the summer (or have to pay up a wedge on their remaining contract term to move them on) because they know that BCFC is their last hurrah in terms of earning Championship money. KP45 aside we have players in our squad probably on £6-£8K and knowing their next contract will be no more than half of that at some League 1 outfit........if they are lucky. If we were in that position what would we do?
  11. Even if it is a mistake, in hindsight, the thinking prior to hindsight was understandable. If he knew Tanner was available and coming in so quickly I very much doubt that Simpson would have got a year.
  12. And if you make a mistake (I assume he didn't know at the time that Tanner was going to come available) you rectify it not compound it (tell that to one or two of our defenders). Simpson will be gone at the end of the season and I would imagine anyone else out of contract and not already tied up will be too. I would also bet money that there will be at least one desperate club somewhere who will take Wells off of us because in the right side he will score enough goals to justify the outlay. Palmer is the difficult one because he earns shedloads of cash and doesn't affect 9 in 10 matches. Another word for it is crap given the ability he has. Who will pay £20K per week for him or even half of that? The squad will start to take more shape next season BUT the demolition job won't be complete, as hard as that is for some to understand, because as I said earlier in the week we still have players here who are fleecing us for the best money they will ever earn in their professional football careers and won't be in a rush to go anywhere (we know who they are, the only route is down for a few of them and they know it every bit as much as we do).
  13. Not having a pop at you but this is EXACTLY the short term thinking that the club needs to consign to the dustbin. You can see the fruits of giving players ninth and tenth chances (out of necessity unfortunately) in our capitulation on Sunday and a host of other capitulations recently. So to call back a player that has clearly been deemed a lazy bastard because we are not in fantastic form really isn't the way to go. That only enhances the Cosy Club mentality rather than gets rid of it. It doesn't matter if 50 posters with an agenda on here think Bakinson has been harshly treated, the Manager has deemed him lazy, he only plays on his own terms and has binned him. He should never put our shirt on again, or certainly not while the current Manager is here anyway. Whether the decision is considered to be right or that Nige is a gert big bully who picks on players who run half the distance of other players picked in the same position (he has the stats, we don't) it has to be maintained for the greater good.
  14. 98.45% chance that it was total bollocks spouted by someone then.....................
  15. Yeah, exactly how I would like to see it go.
  16. Depends what you mean by fixed I think. If fixed means being consistently competitive and no longer prone to some of the regular stupidity/calamity we have seen this season then I agree. I don't think it means being Play Off contenders next season, nothing like it imo.
  17. The thing is the Manager did say three windows (and he knew who was tied down contract wise) so if we have a bit of patience we will really be able to look back on a few who are turning out for us right now and remember them with the "respect" that they deserve. Unfortunately it seems to be the higher paid members of the squad who have been short changing us.
  18. Over the piece I would have to go with Uncle Pete's You Tube and to be honest I'd rather grind my balls in a cheese grater for an hour or two than go with Uncle Pete....... There's a word for Brent...................not one we need to use on here though.
  19. Which is why Alex Scott was allowed to pull out of a tackle five seconds before a penalty was given the other night with no criticism whatsoever. In fact pointing it out meant you were picking on him and that you think he's shit because some people do not have the intelligence to realise that you can think a player is the best prospect the club has produced for years yet still be frustrated with him for making a basic mistake. Our fans have this odd fascination with favourites and pantomime villains meaning the likes of Vyner can do no right whatever he does and the likes of HNM and Scott conversely do no wrong.......even when they clearly do wrong.
  20. Fair point but at least in recruitment terms we are not hamstrung by only being able to deal with players who fall under the umbrella of Swiss Toni's agent connections in the business. Why that should have been the case when Swiss was in charge of recruitment I really couldn't begin to wonder................
  21. Agreed except to say you can change your formation to make it easier to stop crosses at source. However you can't stop them completely so still need to be able to defend them.
  22. He has to change the personnel........otherwise we will remain at the level we are now as a team. You can see the improvements that coaching has made to our attacking play. The movement we show now compared to the beginning of the season is like chalk and cheese, we have gone from having no goal threat to having more than enough to earn points in Championship matches. Unfortunately the same amount of coaching cannot stop certain players making the same mistakes defensively game after game. They aren't good enough at the level and no amount of coaching those particular players will change it. We are just as much a defensive calamity as we always have been over the last 18 months. If you want to put it down to coaching then you have to ask WHY the attacking side of things has improved and the defensive side hasn't. It won't be because Managers/Coaches with the UEFA Pro License and with hundreds of league games under their belt know less than the fan who writes in the Evening Post or the self appointed font of all football knowledge who rings Radio Bristol every week, that's for sure.
  23. Vyner can only play two positions which are Right Back and CDM. He must never play in the central area of the back three/four ever again (I know the full back has to cover the centre half in a back four but you get my drift).
  24. I can answer that without even looking. Not many there isn't. There is a realisation amongst many fans, the majority in fact, that however bumpy the road gets the club needed a huge reset after the stockpiling of mediocre players on wages they will never better in their careers in the Ashton/Johnson era and that it is going to take time to see through and we are therefore left with not much choice other than support the Manager that Steve appointed to do it (which is why he chucked a three year contract at him when there was really no need - he certainly didn't do it to increase the pay out if he fired him). Many of us realise that with £38m losses announced this reset that the club has to undergo to ever be competitive at this level and try and push on again cannot be undertaken in one transfer window. It's absolutely impossible. The Manager himself said it would take three and on what I've seen to date he's not wrong. We realise that the Owner and Manager are singing from an identical hymn sheet, there's no evidence whatsoever that Pearson is pulling in an alternative direction....absolutely none even if you go out of your way to try and find it. What acceptance of the above DOES NOT mean, contrary to the opinion of a few on here, is that the supporters going along with the "plan" are happy to see capitulations like yesterday, are happy to have the worst back line/goalkeeper combination in the league, are happy to see kids making mistakes and learning on the job but costing us points whilst doing it, are happy seeing us hanging on for dear life when we do get three points, are happy when we do put in a cracking performance and throw 3 points down the shitter like we did at Preston, are happy to see the likes of COD and Vyner anywhere near a Bristol City squad let alone a starting eleven...............all it means is that we ACCEPT IT FOR NOW, that's all it means but quite a few have real issues getting to grips with it. If you don't that's your prerogative, that same as it's ours to go along with it at the moment.
  25. We won't see "wholesale use of youngsters". Where have you got that idea from? Next week we will see Bentley, Kalas, Klose, Dasilva, Martin and Weimann in the side. We will see Semenyo who must have 90+ league games under his belt, Pring with approaching 50 and Scott who has at least 20. You are just making stuff up followed by blind panic for no reason whatsover. You have just shoehorned a non-point in to repeat your previous point about us presumably losing 12-14 games on the spin and getting relegated...........
