That’s quite a reversal of posting “form”???

To be fair I think @Bat Fastard is consistent in defending Tinnion more than anything. I don't agree but it is subjective to a degree and that's what forums are for. Liam Manning is a piece of cake to judge - you just look at our record before and our record since and that's enough for many - all the subjective stuff like the performance standards does is add jam. As for Jon Lansdown, he is the Chairman and if he wasn't the Owner's Son we would all be calling for his head. But he IS the Owner's Son and therefore we don't have that luxury so we can only judge Tinnion and Manning on it in reality.

I must admit, as childish as you think it might be, I'm enjoying observing the absolute desperation of the "Nige Out" lot, and that includes the Evening Post/Radio Bristol club fanboy, who are now advising me that judging results and the patently pitiful number of goals scored since Boxing Day (three months ago more or less) is "Cherry Picking". Oh, and a squad that had 35 points after 24 games was always useless so how could he possibly avoid the absolutely nailed on relegation form since? It's great to see you lot squirming now cos your ridiculous impatience, that was taken by the idiots upstairs as validation and vindication of their decision to sack Nige, 100% started this whole chain of events (that has turned into a royal **** up) right off.

Your "progressive young new boy coaching thing" is really ruining things for you - to the point where Steve is now starting to consider whether he needs to intervene - it's gotta hurt!!

Imagine next season home to Blackburn. Wednesday night, being streamed live on sky opposite Champions league.

Will be down 10,000 in the actual ground.

Won't be just us either. This TV deal could end up hurting attendances at Championship football far more than they could have imagined.

This is the message the club understands. At the moment they cling on to "Mothers Day" as the reason but if repeated after Leicester they will know they have a genuine problem with fans (that they have cultivated and perpetuated with their recent press releases). Someone at BS might think it's all a good old laugh at the moment.........whether Steve ends up seeing that way is another matter.

Yes . I thought the Swansea attendance was around 16,000 to be honest . The Lansdown was barely at 50% !!

Take off 1000-1500 away fans off that and the numbers will be terrible. The only way Rotherham gets even a semi-respectable turnout is if we end up being so bad up to that point that we genuinely NEED the points!! Could literally be 11-12K in there for that one if there's nothing to play for. In fact if Manning is still in-situ it might be less than that because some will take the view "what other way of protest is there?".

With you on this . I’m watching the Leicester game as my son is travelling up to join me but that aside , this will be my last game this season and I’m a season card holder . It’s not just unenjoyable now it’s actually depressing!

I genuinely believe that whilst 20K attendances will be announced footfall, unless we put a run together, will be dreadful for the last three home games. Easily on a par with Swansea without the away fans there to pad out the numbers.

This is an odd thing about Manning's tenure so far. I live away from Bristol, so I generally only see televised games, and, Leeds aside, they've all been good performances. I've seen us beat West Ham comfortably, annihilate Southampton, and put in a good show against Ipswich. From the games I've seen, the football has been the best since 2017/18.

It's odd, therefore, to come on hear and read all the discontent. The difference between the TV games and all the others must be staggering.

12 goals in the last 14 league games and failed to score 7 times in that period. What do you reckon?

The three games you speak of were games where we set out to counter attack teams we knew would come at us, which the players are obviously comfortable with. It's when Manning starts trying to impose his own style on the players that we look absolute litter. In addition we set out to counter attack on Saturday but West Brom play a slightly different way to the three teams you mention and hence we had fans at the game singing "we're ******* shit" because we were ******* shit.

Tinnion is doing a good job at the Academy IMHO. I can see why he receives some criticism but calling for his sacking is a wild overreaction.

The results since NP left do however make a mockery of the stated reason for sacking NP and appointing Manning: that NP wasn't getting enough out of the players and that bringing in Manning would mean a much better final league position.

    This aim has blatantly failed.

    What is the Board's response?

    Is it "Oh well." perchance?

Tinnion doesn't work for the Academy. He is the Technical Director of the football club - the bloke in charge of the football operation, and will be PAID as such, a role he is blatantly underqualified to undertake in my view. If he was demoted to running the Academy again most would probably accept that (although most does exclude me tbh).

  8. All I know is that for a good five or six years now the football has deteriorated rapidly at Ashton Gate. The club has literally forgotten that you are there to ENJOY what you are watching. I was able to swallow it under Nige for a while and was hoping that THIS SEASON was the one where we would move forward in terms of moving the lack of style on a little bit. However we know what happened there. The football we saw last week (Bristol City v Swansea) was an appalling indictment of the "Tactics Board" over-coaching that now seems to be prevalent. Liam Manning, Ian Foster, Joe Edwards, Luke Williams.................I couldn't care less what professional coaches, data analysts and the like say, as someone who pays money and contributes in a tiny way to your over-inflated salaries I would just like to say that, as entertainment, your football really is SHIT, it's BORING and it's nothing more than BINARY BALL with the odd exception every now and again in our case.

26 points in 23 games and 26 goals in 23 games having been shut out 9 times - how turgid is that? It gets worse though - it's very spooky but it's also 12 points and 12 goals in our last 14 matches with seven where we have failed to score (or half). Have a think about that for a moment - TWELVE GOALS AND SHUT OUT SEVEN TIMES IN FOURTEEN MATCHES. If that's what coaching genius means then stick it right up your hairy arsehole.

03011113400012023010210 for those who are interested. I know others do some great stats but simple ones we all understand show that this is what Tinnion's and Manning's "front foot" football looks like (since Boxing Day in brackets):

    Nine games - 0 goals (7)

    Seven games - 1 goal (3)

    Three games - 2 goals (3)

    Three games - 3 goals (1)

    One game - 4 goals (0)

Similar to us in many ways - along the lines of "what the ****'s going on here"....

There are a good few strong characters among the playing staff & it will be Impossible even for the dynamic duo to miss the vibe.

I have a picture in my head of Tinnion being very visible in every area of the HPC, lurking to assert authority.frankie_howerd.jpg.0f6bb3cce8457eacb0401750f48ede1f.jpg

The way Bristol Sport act there's probably covert CCTV and Audio devices installed up there..................probably how they were able to detect Marley Watkins whereabouts.

  10. Bloke on podcast obviously being "fed" by club (it's not even a discussion). Bloke on podcast robustly supports manager despite shite results. Bloke on podcast even accuses fans of "wanting him to fail". More poor performances follow. Bloke on podcast being fed by the club previously defending the manager to the hilt suddenly goes a bit cool on the manager.

You don't need to be Einstein to work it out. The fact that Teck Boy has such loose lips is yet another reason, of many, that I would fire him if I was in charge.

I think the moment where we might have appointed Robins has long gone but it does make you think about the quality of managers who have an association to us vs the quality of manager we have appointed.

David Moyes, Sean Dyche, Gary O’Neil, Mark Robins, Liam Rosenior and Luke Williams all have enough of a connection to make you think, at one time or another, they might just have fancied the job. But they have all been given their managerial breakthroughs by other clubs whereas the inexperienced managers we have appointed have never panned out.

It seems to me - from the McInnes, Johnson, Holden and Manning appointments - that Steve Lansdown is desperately keen to be credited for giving a young manager a breakthrough and getting the kudos for the club seeing their potential. But, time and again, we appoint the wrong young managers whilst legitimately promising managerial talent slips through our fingers.

Luke WIlliams? His contribution to last week was enough for me tbh.

Its poor but I understand the context and believe in giving a manager at least one pre season (which are huge with squad building)

I would be happy to give him a pre-season if he actually shows something consistently over the next 8 matches that indicates three months of “relegation certainty” form is actually a blip. Context wise he did not take over a poor or troubled squad but now seems to have one.

I’m certainly not seeing it yet and if it carries on why would the club trust him with £5-10m of investment in the summer? In fact, if it carries on for two or three more games I’ll bet my bottom dollar that Steve intervenes and someone else will get pre-season.

  13. 5 minutes ago, Fontaineofallknowledge said:

The previous regime that had 6 windows and 3 pre seasons to shape the squad? More pointless comparisons

And no real money. Manning took over a bang average squad and is turning it into a relegation standard squad. The fact you are happy to ignore 12 points out of the last 42 as just some kind of minor blip is crazy imo.

  14. If you point out 14 points after 9 games you can say he had a decent START. Since then the only way to make his record look decent is to cherry pick the Coventry, Middlesbrough and Southampton games (and aren’t the club doing that right now!!).

Why start after Watford-rather arbitrary just to prove your point imo. Also no mention of injuries?

Because it’s 14 games ago and we’ve picked up 12 points in that time. It’s not cherry picking when people point out you’ve been crap for nigh on three months or a third of a season. Many managers get fired for less. It also covers this year to date.

On the other hand if you want to use 26 points from 23 games to make a point what point are you making? As for injuries didn’t the previous regime with a better record this season have MORE injuries?

  17. Is there a stat for the number of piece of piss 10 yard passes that get passed straight into touch? That’s a metric where Manning has succeeded in getting his message across tbf…….two home games in a row, thought I was watching Toolstation football tbh.

It ain’t “rocket surgery” (😉) is it.

I will stand behind that this isn’t a bad bunch of players, capable of being competitive and top half / 10th material.  But Manning is making them worse.

Every time Liam McFly spends time on the grass with the players, a bit more of the photo of Nige, Dave, Jase and Curtis fades away!  All a bit sad isn’t it?

This is my issue. After Boxing Day we were in a challenging position with 35 points after 24 games. That’s around 3-5 points below play off territory.

So why were these players who Manning “needs to replace” cos they are so awful able to give us that return up to Boxing Day and have given us 12 points out of FORTY TWO since? How can it be the fault of anyone bar Manning and his invisible sidekick?
