Hopefully in the early weeks he'll take loads of advice from JP and WE. The sad thing is I doubt Cotts ever did

I think he would be mad to do anything different. Until such times as we are more or less safe I cannot see him trying to put much of his own stamp on the side. That may well have to wait until next season when he can add his own players.

Johnson is the only name touted around for the last 3 weeks who has a proper connection with the club and really wanted the job. For those reasons I'm glad he got it, unfortunately it means Otib goes into overdrive. I've inly just got over all the bs on here from when he was playing!

Johnson's ability as a player and whether fans believe he was lucky his Dad was Manager (and many do) in order to have played so many games for the club has nothing to do with whether he has the ability as a Manager. Whichever side of the fence we are on in that regard we have to forget that and judge him as a Manager.....unless he starts picking himself in Centre Mid !!!!

I assume from the timing of your post you were talking about their third goal?

If so, Frankie was about 8 yards off his line as he came out to meet the attacker. He wasn't rooted to his line.

I know frustrations are rife tonight but posting inaccurate stuff to criticise individuals doesn't help.

But I get your disappointment mate, it's a terrible shame that we are in this situation after last season. To find ourselves back in the third div with a big new stadium is just unthinkable...

Frank came off his line far too late. The players were looking at him as if to say wtf including Pack which I didn't like as he made the first mistake himself.

The forty yarder that Barton hit the bar with right in the centre of the goal was also embarrassing. How does a pro keeper get beaten for pace from 40 yards?

  4. Just got back as staying with family up North. Flint at fault for first two goals, Pack and Frank were embarrassing on the third and they took the p1$$ out of us on the fourth.

Smith and Baker head and shoulders above the rest. Wes and Bobby did alright at the end. Flint was jekyll and hyde, Williams ok and the rest stunk the place out tbh.

Got to tell the truth and say that Pack and Freeman were literally stealing a living today. Absolute disgrace the pair of them. Kodjia wasn't much better and is clearly playing for himself.

New GK, two midfield players and a replacement for Wilbraham otherwise totally convinced it's Div 3 football next season. And the way I feel after that trip today Bristol Sport FC can stick a L1 season ticket up their arse.

A good first half performance with no real cutting edge.  Wilbraham didn't have the best of times in the first 45 and Agard would have been more helpful to Kodjia.

QPR woke up at half time and Phillips was a real danger, and we were weaker.  Their goal was undeserved but exemplifies the clinical nature of games in this division, something we have to emulate.

We took a while to get going but when we finally made a substitution started to get on top again and the team goal was great.  Good to see Freeman starting to return to form (long way off his best still but improved).  Kodjia and Smith stood out for me for good reasons and Pack had a horrible game.

The ref was at least consistent in never giving even the most blatant of fouls and it probably made the game more watchable.  The time wasting was annoying as was persisting for too long in the second half without making changes (nothing new there though).

I was very surprised to hear that SL said in an interview there's nothing planned yet for January, that's a travesty.  We need a quality central midfielder, a striker and a keeper walking in the door on Jan 1st as far as I'm concerned.

Good point in the end but we need to get more than that on average to stay up.

Do that and we stay up no problem at all in my view. Don't do it and we may as well toss a coin.

  6. Not the worst result in the world and a decent performance overall. Green made a couple of saves that very few keepers in the division could have made although Frank's save at 1-0 down was class too. Great ball in Bryan for the goal - hopefully he can push on. Freeman was better today but not as good as one or two are making out. Smith is still carrying that midfield to a large degree. Baker had his head on this week and we looked much safer defensively.

I would have subbed Bennett for Little much earlier because he was having one of those days that all wingers have.

It is small steps. This did not sound like Cardiff in fairness, where we were clearly the better team.

Last international break, after drawing to MK we were bottom. This one, six points off the bottom and two out of the zone. Not great, no point saying it is, but better than it was. Going to be a long old season, but today was ok, no more, no less.

Exactly. We won't stay up on today's result and won't be going down on the back of it either. No need to slash your wrists because you "only" got a point and clean sheet away from home.

Fans still divided between optimists and pessimists.

Which will turn out to be the more realistic?

i am still, sadly, in the pessimistic camp.  All will depend on new faces in January but on this season's recruitment situation, signings and loans, I am not holding my breath

You also failed to mention the realists who realise that we could be higher up the league but don't expect us to travel anywhere and smash teams out of sight in this league including ones who have only lost once at home this season despite being in the bottom three. Oh, and the people with an agenda who want Cotterill out so take the negatives whenever they can get them.

An away point is ok. This is the type of team we need to be getting 3 points against though. There aren't many of them and we won't always beat them but that's now 3 points from 3 games against teams we will be battling it out with to stay up. If what we've been told about how good our team is, that isn't acceptable.

What's all this bull$h1t about us being told how good we are? The comments I have read from Cotterill are that we are getting better. Have a look at our away record - it's not that shoddy. If we sort things out at the Gate (and we have won two out of the last three at home) we will be alright.

To call an away point unacceptable is unacceptable if you ask me.

  10. What would people do on Tuesday?

Foe me it would be Hamer and Reid in for Fielding and Freeman. Maybe Cox for Wilbraham who looked like he had concrete boots on today. And definitely Baker in for Bryan if the lad is fit. For me Bryan and Freeman went missing when it counted today. Pack gets a lot of stick in comparison but at least he tried to get on the ball and put himself up there to be shot at - a far better trait in a player than going missing in my view.

  11. This isn't good enough

    Performances must earn points

    Two points lost

wait for usual nonsense from Cotterill

We can't go on like this for league one beckons

Two away matches where we should have taken 6 points and we lose 5

Get a grip ffs. We played a team that beat Middlesbrough last time out off the park, their keeper was outstanding and we hit the woodwork twice. On their own patch too. If anyone cannot see that this team is starting to cope with life in the Championship send us a pm because I know where you can get a cheap guide dog.

  12. As regards the bench , perhaps it's just a way to avoid paying another hotel room and meals .

In that case we ought to name just the three subs then !! But in all seriousness you can't use a saving of probably £200 as reasoning when you take into account we have been bidding £7m for players (it would take us 35,000 away matches or 1,522 seasons to balance one off against the other !!).
