  1. Wiki on Jose: Then, in 1992, an opportunity arose to work as a translator for a top foreign coach: Bobby Robson had been appointed as the new manager of Lisbon club Sporting CP and needed an English-speaking local coach to work as his interpreter. His presentation was on 7 July, alongside president Sousa Cintra, manager Robson and Manuel Fernandes. Mourinho began discussing tactics and coaching with Robson in his interpreting role. Robson was sacked by the club in December 1993. When Porto appointed him as their head coach, Mourinho moved with him, continuing to coach and interpret for players at the new club. Wiki on AVB: He has spoken fluent English since childhood, for his grandmother was from Stockport, England. At the age of 16, Villas-Boas found himself living in the same apartment block as Bobby Robson, who was then manager of FC Porto. Following a conversation between the two, Robson appointed him to Porto's observation department. Robson arranged for Villas-Boas to obtain the FAcoaching qualification, the UEFA C coaching licence in Scotland and for him to study the training methods of Ipswich Town. He obtained his C licence at the age of 17, and his B licence at 18. He received his A licence at the age of 19, and later acquired UEFA Pro Licence under the tutelage of Jim Fleeting.
  2. Yeh Barce fans referred to Jose as The Interpreter as an insult when he managed Real https://youtu.be/dpYA_d4A4E0
  3. AVB lived in the same apartment block as Bobby Robson when he was at Porto and chatted to him and ended up getting a job at Porto, having never played the game professionally! Unbelievable really
  4. Saw this when watching the Man City game on Tv, first time I've ever seen one at the Gate, surely need to see more and more of these!
  5. Based on what? Have you ever met him or do you base it on TV interviews and seeing him in the touch line? If the latter then thats a bit weird
  6. Really? I thought he should have saved that all day long, wasn't that hard a shot, near post, had good sight of it, pretty poor
  7. Looking at the positives, with Luton losing tonight sitting 6th, we win our game in hand we are only 6 points behind!
  8. No way, victory tonight against the league champions would be one of our greatest achievements ever, we are not going up this season anyway, but we can make history tonight, COYR!
  9. I think they keep using Pray Off as they are very pleased with themselves about how clever it is and want it to be universally adopted so everyone can also revel in how clever and witty they are....maybe
  10. For me he talks complete business sense, it might not be what people want to hear, but he's right. The only thing I disagree with is the use of parachute payments, clubs should sort their contracts out in this respect should they go down, but apart from that he knows what he's talking about. I like Gary Neville but he doesn't understand economics and why just giving EFL clubs a slightly bigger slice won't do anything to address imbalances and could actually impact finances long term if Prem isn't the top league
  11. Just seen an article in this and apparently 20 clubs used Hummel
  12. The last football shirt I bought was an England one for the 2004 euros, it was a reversible one, and it had the dates that the kit would be valid for on it. I appreciate England have their kits for longer that clubs, but still good to know esp if you were buying the kit near the wear by date! I agree though, it's not great to change kits like this as there will be some element of pressure on parents to buy the new one for kids, but it's not really happened before and probably won't again. I guess it's a shame that there hasn't really been any acknowledgement that thousands of people will have already bought the previous shirt and all the kit etc and now the club have changed it mid season (for valid reasons) but havnt wanted to mention it in the slick launch videos that they at least appreciate the ££££ spent by fans already at a difficult time, unless I've missed it?
  13. He's just in the family business, if SL ran a shop then JL would be working there, no different really
  14. Players being superstitious as they are, I wonder if they would have tolerated a new kit mid season had we been top?
  15. I was there, great game, I went to the Swindon game before and one of the 3 Cambridge ones after!
  16. I had the stripey shirt in 89/90 but the kids one and it defo had black Hirerite writing, however the players kit had white writing
  17. Back then I don't think they had transfer windows as such, I think you just bought someone whenever, I could be wrong though I was only 10 at the time!
