I do think they have possibly missed one opportunity to many, and made one misstep to far to bring it back round to have another run at it I agree. I understand the lack of faith and belief. but I don’t say it to be hyperbolic or out of frustration with the anti lansdown rhetoric, I am genuinely and deeply concerned about the shape and form that investment or a takeover would come in. The world of football ownership is overrun with charlatans and snake oil salesmen. I just worry what this could bring to our football club - this concerns me way more than a bungling albeit largely well intentioned family based in guernsey. the disintegration and about turn on the Pearson relationship and strategy is so curious, we really did look like we had settled into nige continuing to settle the ship while new investment was sought. Was the mediocre football not selling the club well enough, is this another tilt to try and get up and the club to have a lasting lansdown future or again to make the club have more value? I really don’t know Your point 1 is interesting, not something I’d heard before - could you elaborate and on how it might have affected us?

Do we underestimate the difficulty of doing so though? So many clubs trying to do the same thing, very few make it. This is the story of many many clubs - why should we be special? For sure we could be and with better ownership many we could be but don’t think it’s that easy

That’s the thing it’s just very weird honestly think a lot of people in our fanbase (or on this forum) identify with nige in terms of gender/age/outlook and that’s why they are so hurt. some one suggested a round of chanting for Pearson on 60 Mins because that’s how old is he ffs - some people literally have lost their minds although similarly the rounding on tinnion blasts that out the water, but I guess he is but a pawn for the devil incarnate so that’s maybe to be expected.

You raise some good points and appreciate the way they are put across. I think you’ve got to consider the old “I say it like it is” type of person that perhaps nige is. While they don’t pull any punches, so uncomfortable things get said and that’s valuable often it is a very thinly veiled act for actually just being abit of a cock and probably not listening to anything in return. While I do not know, I feel that Pearson has more than a touch of this about him. And in some ways, why wouldn’t he? He’s got the t shirt and is widing down to retirement. fact is the loudest voice in the room is not always the right one. We will never know what goes on behind closed doors and I’ll admit, a lot of the board actions seem clueless but football is such a ridiculous business I kind of get it? It’s all abit of a nonsense really, a mythical slice of capitalism cooked up to keep us entertained - so many different schools of thought and changing winds, again - I just get it how you can easily come across badly and find yourself drifting as an owner. I just don’t understand the hell bent entitled nature of some of our fans to get to the premier league at all costs, this is so completely at odds with the favour for nige who was never going to get us there nige did a decent job, but I’ve not been inspired - not once and I don’t think anyone in the ground has been either and that shows in the lack of chemistry between the fans and team in my view. A change could be really really good the Tinnion thing really is crap though, and people should be ashamed. if you could explain that that would be great. So far all I see the headline as is “club legend disgraces his status by continuing to want to do a job for the club he has worked for for nearly 30 years”

I do love the way that none of the (many) Pearson blow hards on here can’t possibly fathom that maybe despite doing a DECENT job under challenging (not impossible) circumstances there is no chance whatsoever that he could also have possibly been abit of an arse to work with and maybe a little too reactive to perceived slights or challenges to his majesty. Basically my way or the high way and I’m afraid if you don’t own the club it’s probably going to be not your way. Also a little louder for those at the back, THE FOOTBALL HAS BEEN CRAP. Completely agree, his sacking and the subsequent outrage has been more of a convenient stick to beat the lansdowns with rather than a real footballing loss nige wasn’t exactly inspiring passion on or off the field was he (until his exit) hopefully some more exciting football and abit more to cheer about will put the off field issues in the background where they should be

Cautiously optimistic about this. Will try and instil attacking football and likes to bring on youth. nige was bringing on youth but in the end seemed to be doing to begrudgingly or to make a point (pre injury crisis - see yeboahs minutes beyond his ability) someone who can perhaps galvanise this into a defined and attacking style of play is exciting. no experience beyond xy and z blah blah blah. They’ve all got to start somewhere and would be nice to try and get the ‘next big thing’ in nearer the ground floor. good appointment, has my full support. I would love someone who’s team inspire the fans because let’s face it nige was beyond functional but did well to steady us through a period of financial instability. It’s not blinkered when you look at the state of investment in English football its very reasonable and very easy to support the suggestion the fire could be calling should the frying pan be vacated. I’m no loyalist, and don’t see why it has to be one camp or the other. As I said in my original post there is a middle ground here which is where the truth will be. Public discourse on everything these days has to be for or against and it’s very draining. could the lansdowns have done better? Yes 100% but there’s no manual to running a football club, there are a million and one variables that factor into it when dealing with what is ultimately how 11 men play on a Saturday. and the alternatives just don’t look very appealing. People talk about soul and the old ways, what a club means - the lansdowns aren’t bringing this but none of the alternatives will either and they might bring a hell of a lot more baggage with them too! Debt leveraging, sports washing, Americanisation, multi club ownership, gambling - it’s a what’s what of shite, and for what? A season in the premier league? Lansdowns may not be perfect but they are one appointment away from this all going away and I think they NEED to do better but the alternatives just look horrible. football is hard. There are 92 other clubs trying to do exactly the same as us and who is really “getting it right” maybe 10 of them??
