  1. Know this is from Monday but has struck a chord. Imagine sinking that much of your own money into something each year, although all relative to wealth and getting such a poisonous and obnoxious set of fans in return. ouch
  2. I know this forum is not indicative of the fan base; it’s just a pain in the arse to try and read opinion on city without running into someone still crying their eyes out over him - and I don’t include you in that, obviously.
  3. And yea, absolutely ok with me that you enjoyed Pearson ball. You do you. I guess the slow ponderous play makes analysis easier
  4. That’s the thing it’s just very weird honestly think a lot of people in our fanbase (or on this forum) identify with nige in terms of gender/age/outlook and that’s why they are so hurt. some one suggested a round of chanting for Pearson on 60 Mins because that’s how old is he ffs - some people literally have lost their minds although similarly the rounding on tinnion blasts that out the water, but I guess he is but a pawn for the devil incarnate so that’s maybe to be expected.
  5. Agreed, surprised at some of the posters who went off the deep end with this one
  6. I mean, it’s hard not to describe the Pearson rhetoric like this is it? It’s not exactly been productive or balanced blowhard /ˈbləʊhɑːd/ noun DEROGATORY•INFORMAL noun: blow-hard a boastful or pompous person. "the segregationist blowhards who would dominate the politics of my state for a generation"
  7. You raise some good points and appreciate the way they are put across. I think you’ve got to consider the old “I say it like it is” type of person that perhaps nige is. While they don’t pull any punches, so uncomfortable things get said and that’s valuable often it is a very thinly veiled act for actually just being abit of a cock and probably not listening to anything in return. While I do not know, I feel that Pearson has more than a touch of this about him. And in some ways, why wouldn’t he? He’s got the t shirt and is widing down to retirement. fact is the loudest voice in the room is not always the right one. We will never know what goes on behind closed doors and I’ll admit, a lot of the board actions seem clueless but football is such a ridiculous business I kind of get it? It’s all abit of a nonsense really, a mythical slice of capitalism cooked up to keep us entertained - so many different schools of thought and changing winds, again - I just get it how you can easily come across badly and find yourself drifting as an owner. I just don’t understand the hell bent entitled nature of some of our fans to get to the premier league at all costs, this is so completely at odds with the favour for nige who was never going to get us there nige did a decent job, but I’ve not been inspired - not once and I don’t think anyone in the ground has been either and that shows in the lack of chemistry between the fans and team in my view. A change could be really really good the Tinnion thing really is crap though, and people should be ashamed. if you could explain that that would be great. So far all I see the headline as is “club legend disgraces his status by continuing to want to do a job for the club he has worked for for nearly 30 years”
  8. I do love the way that none of the (many) Pearson blow hards on here can’t possibly fathom that maybe despite doing a DECENT job under challenging (not impossible) circumstances there is no chance whatsoever that he could also have possibly been abit of an arse to work with and maybe a little too reactive to perceived slights or challenges to his majesty. Basically my way or the high way and I’m afraid if you don’t own the club it’s probably going to be not your way. Also a little louder for those at the back, THE FOOTBALL HAS BEEN CRAP. THIS TEAM CAN DO BETTER. Will they? Time will tell but I’d rather watch something new now then watch city try and squeeze out another turgid, rock hard shite of a goal. also I don’t see it talked about enough but the swing in popular opinion on tinns has been also wildly out of proportion and pretty gross
  9. Completely agree, his sacking and the subsequent outrage has been more of a convenient stick to beat the lansdowns with rather than a real footballing loss nige wasn’t exactly inspiring passion on or off the field was he (until his exit) hopefully some more exciting football and abit more to cheer about will put the off field issues in the background where they should be
  10. Cautiously optimistic about this. Will try and instil attacking football and likes to bring on youth. nige was bringing on youth but in the end seemed to be doing to begrudgingly or to make a point (pre injury crisis - see yeboahs minutes beyond his ability) someone who can perhaps galvanise this into a defined and attacking style of play is exciting. no experience beyond xy and z blah blah blah. They’ve all got to start somewhere and would be nice to try and get the ‘next big thing’ in nearer the ground floor. good appointment, has my full support. I would love someone who’s team inspire the fans because let’s face it nige was beyond functional but did well to steady us through a period of financial instability. His sacking and subsequent outrage more a convienant stick to beat the lansdowns with I feel than a real footballing loss. But lets kick on now, some nice football and the crowd are right behind the team again, some togetherness at full time and maybe team and fans can be united in spite of any concerns about the ownership COYR
  11. Fully expect Ashton gate will be empty and everyone will be outside niges house
  12. Never got sang while he was here, why would it now
  13. Not sure this goes far enough. Maybe we should print and distribute 20,000 nige masks and then immolate ourselves at half time in a show of solidarity
  14. It’s not blinkered when you look at the state of investment in English football its very reasonable and very easy to support the suggestion the fire could be calling should the frying pan be vacated. Nige has done a good job, but we were not going to kick on with him either. Saint nige crap is really starting to grate
  15. Probably the best 2 line summation we’ve had!
  16. I’m no loyalist, and don’t see why it has to be one camp or the other. As I said in my original post there is a middle ground here which is where the truth will be. Public discourse on everything these days has to be for or against and it’s very draining. could the lansdowns have done better? Yes 100% but there’s no manual to running a football club, there are a million and one variables that factor into it when dealing with what is ultimately how 11 men play on a Saturday. and the alternatives just don’t look very appealing. People talk about soul and the old ways, what a club means - the lansdowns aren’t bringing this but none of the alternatives will either and they might bring a hell of a lot more baggage with them too! Debt leveraging, sports washing, Americanisation, multi club ownership, gambling - it’s a what’s what of shite, and for what? A season in the premier league? Lansdowns may not be perfect but they are one appointment away from this all going away and I think they NEED to do better but the alternatives just look horrible. football is hard. There are 92 other clubs trying to do exactly the same as us and who is really “getting it right” maybe 10 of them??
  17. and the sky is blue. it’s got to be someone’s unless we are fan owned so not sure what the point is. my point is I’m not going to support selling the clubs soul for one season in the premier league. you may argue the club is currently souless as it is, but I am fairly certain it could be a lot lot worse
  18. But in that time hull have had owners who have tried desperately to change the name of the club and now owned by some faceless investment fund. Is it a molecule of success at any cost? real investment is coming from hedge funds, despot regimes and the Americans - I don’t want this at my club
  19. But to who? Any success I can point to in the last 10 years of takeovers comes with a huge ethical headache, one I don’t fancy squaring with myself. There’s no wealthy Bristolians wondering forward ready to invest. and where were we 20 years before lansdown? im not an apologist, just very careful what I might wish for. What we all know is that this melts away with a team playing well, we are no where near the levels of Man U where it is rotten to the core and beyond repair. Get the appointment right and everyone forgets, that is on the lansdowns to get right and I really hope they do
  20. Appreciate this thread as long as it stays within the boundaries of your title! as with everything the truth always lies somewhere in the middle and people have to understand that you will never fully know the truth at each end of the spectrum to truly know that middle part things we know 1. lansdown silence has been poor, to be MIA and only break cover to sack him feels wrong although find me a football club where the upper management is front and centre and you show me a badly run football club 2. Nige is combative - this is well known and at the end of the day this is a business. No matter how disgruntled you are you mouth off publicly against your boss, it’s not ending well. Chances are Pearson knew the situation, but was impatient and concerned for his own employment so went to the press. 3. David Rennie going too. Did the board have concerns on player management from treatment room to management which could have contributed to the injury crisis? 4. Pearson has done a good job with what he’s been given. But aren’t there still other clubs doing more on less? There is no real footballing culture at city, we are determined and dig in but my god, ask yourself - why does every goal we score feel like a forcep delivery of a 15ib baby? Couldn’t someone else maybe do better? 5. Scott money - clubs need to run sustainably, last time we spaffed transfer money we ended up in this position where we have to retain the Scott/semenyo money. Granted that was through letting Ashton loose with the finances and that is on the lansdowns but wouldn’t you rather they learnt from that? 6. this forum presents a microcosm of our fan base, maybe many who identify with nige and feel him hard done by. But don’t think for a moment he is thinking of us, it’s a job. Where was the support for him before? I go home and away and can’t remember hearing a chant for him. This is because he is functional, there is no impetus behind the team because we don’t play in a way that offers that. We are established championship, not underdogs and we need a little more football to believe in and get excited by. Im curious to see what happens next, what I fear is the lansdowns have got themselves in a position where they can no longer do right for doing wrong and could be hounded out and it will be out of the frying pan into the fire..
