I love hearing about other eras of our history, even if they don't include much success!

Not much success??? A lot of us can remember top tier football at Ashton Gate, and for a few seasons we more than held our own. Something a lot of our fans nowadays are unlikely ever to see in their lifetime. (Think about that) Seeing Bristol City play and beat a full strength Man Utd team home and away, winning away at Arsenal in our first game in the top flight.. beating Liverpool, beating Spurs and sending them down I could go on. Now we have Manningball and we’re all supposed to be glasses half full even though we all know our glasses are bone dry.

Have we learned nothing from trying to shoehorn Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes into a side?

Maybe not, but these days we can have five subs and really change, or further strengthen the state of play. What a great position to be in.

I wasn't comparing, just merely pointing out to the poster expecting us to beat Huddersfield that Leeds had lost at home to Blackburn, so read my post properly before having a go, it seems to almost annoy you that we have not lost in the last five games because if you think Manning is going anywhere fast you will be sorely disappointed. I think you will also be another poster having to eat humble pie before long just as a few have already started to backtrack.

And my point was that although given their league position we should be beating Huddersfield at home, unlike Leeds we only had 9 shots vs 13.. Leeds have largely been unlucky, I thought Huddersfield were the better side against us. Unfortunately I think that you’re right on Manning, and if you read my post properly where have I said he’s going anywhere fast? Lucky not to have already gone though in my opinion.

And if I do need to eat humble pie, then that’ll be a good thing for all of us, right?

You know exactly what I mean, it's yet another Manning Vs Pearson diatribe

Wrong, I was 100% in Nige’s camp, but just like Alex Scott he’s now gone and we moved on. If anything it was another Manning vs Entertaining Football diatribe.

Do we really have to detail yet another thread FFS!!

As you’ve just done by the way, if you disagree with a post, view or opinion then why not offer a response? I didn’t use the ‘P’ word and those two games did actually happen earlier this season which is a fair and valid response to the main point of the CNG post.

I will answer. Liam's experience is clearly nowhere near that of Pearson and it cant be for years to come. It certainly doesnt 'trump it' in any way shape or form. I am only referencing Oxford's excellent showing in the early stages of this Oxford season following a summer transfer and training period, so hoping for the same happens for us starting this July.

During that excellent showing in the early stages of this Oxford season we put nine past them over two games. Still one of the football worlds biggest ever mysteries why we then decided to swap our coaching team for theirs???

Ask the Leed fans how they feel playing a side recently they should easily beat, as the cliche goes there are no easy games in the Championship.

Leeds haven’t won in their last three games, losing 2-1 at Coventry they had 19 shots to Coventry 11, in the 0-0 against Sunderland they had 12 shots versus 6.. against Blackburn they lost having 19 shots versus 3. To compare our plight versus that of Leeds is as ridiculous as is your support for Manning and the way that he has us ‘playing’. Be honest with yourself at least, it’s been pretty poor and if it were not for Max we would have been humiliated a good few times and he would have been long gone by now.

Not only that but the only Goalkeeper in the list. For someone who makes routine saves every week that are over egged by all and sundry on here (I'm being extremely immature I know........) that's some achievement.

I think the Rotherham keeper came in at around # 32

Mccrorie stating himself he is a centre back is still the bit that makes me wonder what we have signed him to do. Round pegs in round holes etc…

Think you’ll find the his preferred position is RB..

Everybody keen on spending someone else's money, should be politicians!

Well in fairness, SL’s keen on taking everybody else’s money too.. And if you have an asset that you’d like to sell at way above true market value then you really should ensure that you properly service, grow and maintain it.

Put it this way - we’re not talking about “how did we only draw with Huddersfield” - we’re talking about “How we drew with Huddersfield”. Big difference.

I’ll split the difference.. “how on earth did we manage to draw with Huddersfield”.

  13. What if, and it’s possible, we lose at home to Rotherham? We’re playing Manningball, they’ve not won a single game away from home in the championship this season and are already relegated… Jamo, Williams and Kingy will likely have been told that they’re surplus to requirements for our promotion push next term… What could possibly go wrong?

Surely then SL would have to pipe up and be seen to be managing his business?

Its from what i've seen in the past 3 years at A.G Clearly a guy in the game for so many years will have more successes than someone new to his trade. But also many more failings. It's like saying Warnock was successful as a manager. Of course he had successes but he had a more than a dozen failings that can be easily forgotten. Someone new like Liam has only had one sign of success (Oxford) and is too you to have failed. My judgement is an opinion just the same as yours. We will have to wait and see

Too young to have failed? What planet are you on he got the arse from MK Dons… I suppose you could argue that he managed to hang in there for just over a year which given what we’ve witnessed to date is quite a feat.

To Pearson's credit, he gave the lad a decent chance and kept him involved in what seems a fair combination of bench and starts. I'd trust Liam's judgement and we have Tinman seeing him develop under both coaches so Bath is probably his level rather than the Championship - but who knows? He could have a good summer and be part of a big squad where we will have a lot of potential wide players; they cant all make it.

Go on then, I’ll bite… Why on earth would you trust Liam’s judgement?

Liams first press conference at Oxford: “You look to academies first, why wouldn’t you”

    Liams first press conference here:

I understand the importance of players to see the pathway, and the most rewarding thing for academy staff is where you see someone make a debut. But also from a pure business perspective you invest huge sums in the academy, why wouldn’t you look there first? That doesn’t mean you take everyone from there but it’s the first place you look…..we’ll definitely look there first then go external after that”

Just leaving those here. And guess how many he brought through at Oxford.

You’ve got to tell a few white lies these days to get a job…

The last 5 games we are top of the form table. That is remarkably different to the previous 5 games. We’ve just won 5-0 which wasn’t dross and nor was the Leicester game.  It’s up to you how you want to view it all.  Is it ideal? No. But I prefer to see the glimmers of hope than wallow and keep repeating the same stuff about top 6 squad etc. I work hard all week so prefer to try to find the positives in a football match, a string of results, a good 45 mins etc.

We support the same club and ultimately want the same thing… however  the Sunderland game a few days before the extraordinary Blackburn game and yesterday a few days later were frankly very, very poor performances . Beating Swansea in another low quality game and Plymouth may have assisted putting us top of a form table.. but you can’t unsee the performances, people are entitled to be offside. We all want to see the green shoots that you mention, and I know I’m going over it again, but ironically that was exactly what a lot of the us were beginning to see at the start of this season and then for reasons most of us will never understand it all changed.

The same stuff being posted over and over and over again!

Thing is there’s nothing much different being dished up on the pitch week on week, we’re watching the same dross over and over and over again.. there’s nothing being offered by the club performance wise to change the narrative. And if the changes to the squad over the summer are modest as we are being led to believe and not wholesale, why should we remotely believe LM will be able to deliver anything different next term? It’s friggin depressing, I can’t get why you don’t see that?
