Fair play to you all… I can’t even bring myself to watch this stuff anymore.

TBF his thoughts and insights into the academy players was pretty good, in addition to discussing the excellent U18 cup run and upcoming game against Man City he went on to explain the EY loan to Bath logic of being involved in ‘men’s’ football.. likening the move to Antoine and going on to say that only Lloyd Kelly wasn’t treated this way.. all good stuff and this is where he clearly excels.. Then, he started to talk about the first team and it all quickly turned to bluster and drivel..

What a ridiculous post.  Have a go at those in charge for anything you want as long as it’s true. Accusing them of not caring is completely ridiculous.

Well I did say that they ‘seem’ not to give a sh*t.. and I based that on their lack of action in addressing the manager situation which we all know urgently needs addressing. And despite their previous commitments to improving communication they have in fact regressed there too, even comically logging on and off of X as the results fluctuate.

I do accept that I wrongly accused them of having balls of steel, when due to the reasons above I was clearly wrong.

  3. Steve Lansdown and Mark Ashton sacked Dean Holden and this was the day that they appointed Nige because we were on a losing run, in the sh*t, really struggling and looking like going down, P31… 39 pts.. We were 10 points above the bottom 3 and needed a proven football manager to maintain our championship status.

Now, we’re 44 pts from 36 games and 6 points above the bottom 3. Fair play to JL and BT they don’t seem to give a sh*t and must have balls of steel.

Should also add though, and that as we all know Steve Lansdown no longer seems to give a sh*t either.

    Jeeeezzzzz….

To be honest the 7 subs thing is ridiculous. Surely good experience for academy players to be on the bench and part of match day. Seriously getting fed up with this appointment, lost some great people in Nige, Curtis and Jason.

Given our squad limitations and Manning’s reluctance to give youth a chance in any shape or form, I’m still at a loss as to why we let Andi go to West Brom… surely he’d be better coming off the bench for us rather than them?

Sunday is THE season decider for me. Win and we can take a deep breath whilst the season just slowly extinguishes to nothing. Draw or lose and it becomes a full-on relegation scrap from a position of almost guaranteed safety after Middlesbrough.

Can’t say I’m impressed that it’s reached this position tbh.

Agree with this.. after the Swansea game the next 4 matches are really tough. Lose on Sunday and it could be 9 on the trot 😢

Talking to a couple of Ipswich fans in the hotel bar this evening.

Just some context, in terms of their judgement: we asked what they thought of Mark Ashton: “t w a t”.

Then, can we have Wes Burns back. “Only if we can have Liam Manning back when McKenna gets poached”

Really? Yes: “you’ve got a top coach, one of the best……give him til this time next season and you’ll be glad you did…….best organised side here this season”

    Just saying.

    What were they drinking?

I honestly think a good successor for Nige would be Michael Duff.  I don’t think we will get anyone near Nige’s exoerience or calibre, but I think Duff has gone similar traits to Nige.  My only criticism of him is “why the f++k did he go to Swansea”?

Did him and Manning swap phones over the summer?

I’m sure there are loads of other options, but I don’t tend to follow managers ups and downs that much.

Hate to say it, but a better option may have even been Matt Taylor. Surely the gas have not made a better managerial appointment on probably half the salary than us… or have they? Surely JL is not that stupid, or is he?

When Pearson was sacked I said it was a clueless decision. I thought he was doing a decent job based on our squad. I didn’t think that this squad was getting anywhere near the top six even with Pearson. It is a mid table squad.

But if Pearson would have been supported back in the summer and again as required in January… we’d be there or thereabouts.

    My completely wild speculation.

    Sack Nige.

Confirm shortlist. A PUNT ON RELATIVE LOW COST YOUNG LEAGUE ONE (OR BELOW) TALENT - TINNION ‘s PROVEN METHODOLOGY

    Start sounding out shortlist.

Highest one to nibble, approach them / their club if they’re employed

Sell the club to prospect / I doubt prospect had to work too hard

    Formalities

    Announce

    whats reckon?

Just an update to point #3.

From what I understand, Celtic are one of the clubs interested and it may be similar for TC there.

Under Postecoglou, their forward - Kyogo - was prolific. The ball was moved into the box quickly and his movement and natural instinct meant he was always on the end of it for a goal.

Under Rodgers, Celtic are slow, and pass it around the back. Kyogo has been non-existent. His runs are futile and the ball simply isn’t getting to him in time.

Some on here have said TC isn’t suited to a lot of modern passing teams, but he is. Basically, any team that can get it to him, or his space, efficiently.

It’s actually quite depressing typing that out. We are at the stage where we can’t get a meaningful ball into the box ☹️

Celtic are the top scorers in the SPL and have scored as many as the third and fourth teams combined - 68 in 28 games. Rangers have scored 63 in 28 games. If Tommy went to either he’d score a hatful, it would not be much more challenging for him than playing in the U21s. I certainly don’t think he should go north of the border though, an in form young championship forward will always attract more attention from the premier league, (which would be his dream.. he’s not really Scottish), than an SPL equivalent IMO.

I'd buy him his bus ticket to Bournemouth, and I don't want him to leave. I just believe that a move away from Ashton Gate will be best for Tommy. He was clearly looking to move on before Manning came - at least one contract offer rejected - and now he's in a team that don't play to his strengths and is looking more and more 'hacked off' (you know what I mean) every week.

I don't see that we will continue to attract exciting young talent when we treat the exciting young talent we already have like that.

Bournemouth? I don’t think so. Take someone a lot better than Tommy to replace Solanke.

People have mentioned on here about players being over coached and I’ve been one of them (don’t know it for a fact, more an impression, having seen players suddenly stop flying what they were doing naturally) this having a knock on effect to spontaneity. I think Tommy could be a case in point. He talked about improving his defensive play and maybe that’s the problem he’s not cut out to do both.
He also mentioned that when he was younger it was all about getting goals but now he knows differently, but I’m not sure that coaching that idea out of a strikers head, is necessarily a good thing.

He admitted himself that in time and when they’re all thinking the same way, things will click which is great but what about ensuring we’re playing well enough now?

His interview all felt a bit flat, when he’s normally a more positive happy kid. I actually thought he’d do at least as well as Scott when they first emerged, so it’s sad to see this lack of form.

You thought he’d do at least as well as Scott? Blimey..

Hoping when he moves on this summer that it will be to a top end promotion competing team, maybe even Burnley or Sheffield Utd as they will likely need a new striker. He won't get game time at a Prem club yet, but playing for a top level Championship team that will create 2 or 3 chances a game for him (he's lucky if he even gets 1 chance here) would see him hit 15-20 goals a season quite comfortably. Some of the comments on here about him are a joke, he's only 21 ffs & being asked to play a tough role whilst having injuries throughout the season.

He could also go down the easier but more illustrious route of a move to Rangers or Celtic, which would probably guarantee him international appearances as well.

Would we sell him to a championship competitor though? Different thing once his contract has expired and it’s his choice.

£5 million. No chance he is here next season.

Regardless of price… would he even want to be here next season? He’s probably got a bit of real ambition in him which he may not see as be aligned with Bristol City, especially now that he’s had a look at the chaos from the inside.

Non issue. Hope it works out well for him and he scores a load of goals at that level. Didn’t do Bobby Zamora any harm!

Ahhh… When you’re sat in row z and the ball hits your head… that’s Zamora

    He can still do that.

Can he thought? I was under the impression that he’s not been playing much at all for the U21s of late and more aligned with the U18s? I could be wrong..

  18. 2 minutes ago, Northern Red said:

I don't disagree based on what I've seen, but clearly that's not happening so what is he meant to do in the meantime?

Possibly give him a fair crack in the U21s and develop him alongside our players and coaches as opposed to Bath’s group?

I think the most concerning thing is that pre Manning we had one of the meanest defensive units in the division. The last 2 games it has looked all over the place, which if we are going to get drawn towards the teams scrapping for survival is worrying.

TBH if it wasn’t for Max we would have been 3 or 4 down at HT in the first game against West Ham and then we wouldn’t have had the euphoria of the cup run. Same against Leeds at home. We’ve been dodgy for a while.

Yup. There was a somewhat bizarre argument on another thread that sacking Nige and hiring Liam was justified by the financials.

I think Tommy was gone this summer either way - that contract was on the table for a while and he’d have seen what his mate earnt. However, I don’t think it’s unfair to say that the way Liam has played him over his spell in charge has markedly reduced Tommys value and any theoretical saving from the change in manager has been wiped out by loss in squad value.

I agree, TC needs to be both playing and scoring regularly to have any chance of getting a gig in the premier.. The worst outcome could be that he continues to run his contract down and then ends up at somewhere like Coventry on a free.

    Totally agree

I think most are thinking where are we / what’s it looking like as we step forward , and where are our potential exit points and options if things started to look really concerning

‘Really concerning’ of course is absolutely subjective

I can also see people’s thoughts and concerns about not sliding into next season , and how much you back him £ and number of changes in the summer.

It is a tricky one but ultimately if you still have any confidence in your recruitment , plan , and appointment you have to stick and back him ,

Unkess , of course , and you are professional and ruthless enough to have seen with your close up view that it’s not what you thought and doesn’t look like being.

JL via BT should with their close constant view , be constantly watching , listening and assessing LM every day and week on a rolling and growing basis.

As I’ve alluded to elsewhere BT is actually the man in the spotlight , that’s his job , to execute professionally , well , fairly and if need be ruthlessly

He’s the one around LM , staff, players , everyday , watching sessions , listening at minimum , to pre match preps and briefs , gauging the response from and mood of players etc etc

    Over to you Brian

Can’t see Brian doing that to be honest..

In reality, JL should be the one to hold his hands up and admit that he’s made a mistake in placing too much trust in BT. Missing out on the playoffs is regrettable but as will be the most likely scenario regressing from last season will be totally unacceptable. JL should get shot of both BT and LM and try and rebuild some credit with not only the fan base but with everyone including sponsors associated with the club.

Cant see JL doing that either to be honest..
