  1. I didn't realise that - I knew we could not take such things into the EU but thought we were more relaxed about it the other way around. Useful to know - but it means no wild boar saucisson will be making it's way back then Hold the press!! - A little research suggests my wild boar sausage wish may be still on: Bringing food products into the UK (rctcbc.gov.uk)
  2. Had my first duck confit in Sarlat many years ago and was an immediate convert to it. Like cassoulet but sometimes feel it's the French equivalent of a full English to my arteries!
  3. You're right. Last time we were there about 10 years ago we had some lovely fresh whitebait in there.
  4. I am aware that this area of the forum attracts well travelled epicures so........ We will be staying overnight in Barcelona (near Barcelona Sants station) before moving on to the Pyrenees and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good tapas bars. I'm hopeless at deciding on a location and we would no doubt spend ages wandering around looking at many and failing to make a decision! Whilst I'm here I suppose I could also throw into the mix that we are ending up with a few days in Toulouse where I believe the food is good. Thanks for any comments/suggestions.
  5. Just wondering what would have happened if the world cup was not in Qatar this year - would this have clashed with it and reduced interest? It could be that the women's game might benefit from the Qatar award fiasco.
  6. A book I read a very long time ago is "The Glory Game" by Hunter Davies. It follows Spurs during the 1971-72 season when they won UEFA cup. The unusual thing for the time was that Hunter Davies was allowed almost unrestricted backroom access throughout the season. I re-read it a few years ago and it gives a taste for football in the early seventies that is a real contrast to today. Little ol Bristol City also get a mention when Bill Nicholson visits Ashton Gate for a reserve match.
  7. Why in my mind do I keep seeing an angry hamster
  8. Please someone call the grammar police - "wanna" "gonna". John please maintain standards Also I'm not sure when I last saw a price with a "p" after it.
  9. Disappointed with Norwich away being mid week - was really looking forward to a weekend away. Did that last time we played them, it's a lovely place.
  10. You would like this one then:
  11. I remember the Volley as a youth with a number of different bars on different floors which I liked. When my daughter was at UWE I took her and was disappointed to see what had become of it. @exAtyeoMax I agree about London there are a lot of nice old pubs. One I have been meaning to visit is The Blackfriar (unsurprisingly at Blackfriars!) - have you been?
  12. I paid £2 (well actually £1.99) a litre for diesel at Reading services a month ago. Was fuming about that as it was about 25p a litre more than the local price at the time.
  13. Just switched channels and all I can see is a Germany against Italy match.
  14. Wholly agree - to me it's not Bristol City and a no. Following on from a pseudo Middlesbrough shirt a few seasons ago can we not get a consistent identity.
  15. Never been there. My old dad used to use Severn Beach as a bit of a joke as a place not worth visiting. Have I missed anything?
  16. Some time in 1968 no idea of the game, so that makes it 55 years.
  17. I did build a shed the last few days. Not that big just man cave size!
  18. My daughters UWE graduation on 12th May. Before that the Hull game.
  19. The lads did well. I don't understand what all the whining has been about all season I'll try and make more effort next season.
  20. I am coming to AG on Saturday for my first (and last!) home game of the season. Saw the rewards reminder and thought I'd have a browse on Saturday - only to see the date. What's that all about.
  21. I used to dread that table as everyone who was waiting for a table would sit around it on those plastic seats watching my pathetic attempts at snooker
  22. That was exactly what I said to Mrs RR. It was a difficult choice as I wanted Palace to beat Chelsea but working in South London I don't particularly like them
