I remember as a very young child in the late 1970s going to see Santa in Fairfax House (that massive dept store where the Galleries is now).

Is there an opposite version of this? Scoring very late to win 1-0. If so I will raise City 1-0 Rovers 1991 - Louie Donowa

I find the shop soulless. The prices for some of the clothes like t shirts seem very high.
The shop ran by Beryl - I have very fond memories of that. It was crammed full of stuff.
I do really like the café being there.

I found the whole incident quite funny. The guy was clearly a prat and presumably will be regretting it today, but no harm was done and it provided some entertainment in a drab game.

The emergence of players like Scott and Benarous have been the highlight of this season.
As others have said, Alex Scott’s maturity has been really impressive, especially considering he’s been played in an unfamiliar position in the last few games.
He has so many attributes - skill, composure, an eye for goal and he’s got a tough edge as well.

I thought Zyner had a decent enough game yesterday. Yes his distribution was poor at times, but so was most of the team’s.
I agree with posters who have mentioned confidence affecting his game. That’s why mistakes creep in.

Atkinson was impressive yesterday, both his defending and when he had the ball. He’s a very promising player.

I thought first half we were decent. We pressed them well and should have taken those chances. God knows why Derby persisted in playing themselves into trouble.
Second half was the usual problem of standing off and failing to keep hold of the ball. Some of our passing was dreadful and it was a dire watch. Thankfully Derby created very little.
Very happy with 3 more home points and another clean sheet.

I saw them by the Hen and Chicken. Most of them looked about 14. They went into the pub, then left again because there was no way they were going to get served.

Around 1973 I had the star letter printed in Shoot magazine and should have had a £2 postal order sent in the post for my efforts but it never arrived which angered me for years! I always bought Shoot, Roy of the Rovers and Whizzer & Chips every week
I used to love Whizzer and Chips. And Whoopee! I think they merged at some point. Sweeney Toddler was my favourite character.

I used to love both Match and Shoot, especially the action shots from games. The annuals were always in my Xmas stocking.
Kits were so much better back then without the sponsors emblazoned on them.
I like the red and black too. Much better than all red when we play away to teams with white shorts (I know this season there seems to have been a change in rules about clashing shorts).

Yep, I got Roy of the Rovers too. Absolutely loved it. Especially how the players could hear conversations between people in the crowd!

It might just be me, but after the joy of the celebration of early goals have sided down, I often find an early 1-0 lead unsettling. They completely change the complexion of the game before it’s had a chance to settle. Maybe it’s just because I never trust City to hold on. It’s the hope that kills us, and all that.
Under GJ we were very good at defending leads, although towards the end of his tenure I remember we seemed to start conceding late goals.

My thoughts on the players brought in/ brought back under NP:
Atkinson & Tanner - I like both of them, both are young with potential. The type of players we should be going for.
James - good signing, decent player. Needs players around him with energy because he lacks mobility.
King - in the games I’ve seen he’s been largely anonymous. I’m happy to be proved wrong.
Simpson - seems past it. But like King his infuence off the pitch might be the most important thing
Baker & Weimann - no problem with retaining these two. Experienced players to compensate for the young players NP has selected for the squad. Baker has played well, Weimann has been mixed and looks like he has lost some pace. We definitely need more options up front.

I thought Bakinson played well (but not MOM).
We are in really interesting times. Gone are the days of spending money frivolously, and NP is having you use and develop what he’s got. Fans will get behind young players if we see them giving their all, and that’s what happened on Tues.

Queues weren’t a problem in the entrance off Raynes Rd about 30 mins before kick off.
I understand why they have these checks, but the way they are done seems pointless. The scanner beeped at me, the guy asked if it was my phone, I said yes he didn’t check and let me through.

It just goes to show that when the players are determined and show that they care, the fans respond.
I was nervous as hell in the last part of the game, but I also loved the atmosphere. Especially because we had young players out there scrapping for every ball. That’s what football is all about.

Hull City away match day thread

Seeing as Hull’s form is good I’d happily take a point today. We definitely need to find a way to be more of an attacking threat. If Tanner is fit Scott can be pushed into midfield, and that should hopefully give us some creativity.
