If the financials work then sign him up imo-his set pieces alone are worth it!

Hi all
if anyone has any spares please let me know
I have an adult spare in the dolman

I would take twine if we could get for £2m and £20k pw but suspect it would be a lot more than that. Burnley staying up could help tbf

Many of us know that a decent CF must surely be at the top of Mannings shopping list and BT has hinted that a European one is in the frame…….…….
Personally it make no difference where he’s from if he can deliver the goods.
I was really impressed with Delano burgzorg for Huddersfield last week-looks exactly the type of player we need who can hold it up and has pace. Only 7 goals but is his first season in a new league and in a struggling team so could get to 15 if we signed him imo.

If we continue at this rate of improvement I fancy top 6 at least next season. Really excited to see what Liam can achieve with a pre season and a striker!

Pay him as you would do one of your top tier earners.
27 years old (28 in Dec), get him signed up for 3 years (at worst 2+1). Treat it like a free transfer, because that is what it is. He’s a top half championship performer. I don’t think you’ll bring in as guaranteed a performer for the overall cost. At his peak years.
Agree.
do we have any lingering concerns over fitness or has that been put to bed?

Its annoying because two extra points would have given us a good chance of finishing in the top 10.
Who cares?

What a fantastic performance-front foot, aggressive and composed. The sort of football Brian and Jon promised when they signed Liam.
really wish we sacked him after those couple of losses

I know Blackburn were poor but for me it showed what we've been missing without twine-someone that can handle the ball between the lines and actually unlock defences. Not sure bird is that type (think he's more of a sitter/james replacement) so along with the striker getting twine or similar is crucial to our chances next season

Better after tonight.
That was an excellent performance.
But I suspect the nuance of it is wasted on you anyway.
There we are then!
Again, you fail to realise the reality of me saying “I’d have sacked him after Cardiff”. I didn’t have “a way”. It’s just my opinion on what I’d have done.
Would you still have sacked him in hindsight? I'm aware of the nuance and I'm also acutely aware of context when appraising performance-hence why i disagreed with the bedwetters

How pathetic that some can’t just enjoy a win and positive performance
With respect we wouldn't be able to enjoy it if a lot of people on here had their way!

Will the bed wetters who called for Mannings head after a couple of poor performances/defeats now be calling for his contract to be extended??

No, it’s a squad built on an agreed club strategy / profile, which Tinnion said:
”we’ve got a squad built for the way we want to play”
”best group in a long time”
”we’ve invested well….2 players in every position”
”we were very happy with Summer (23) recruitment”
”we will back up injuries with academy players…lots of young players coming into the team”
”we are recruiting into a way of playing…easier…narrows down the ones we want”
Its not Pearson’s squad or Liam Manning’s squad, it’s Bristol City’s squad.
But do you think manning would have signed off on signing players that can't handle the ball? Tanner, mccrorrie and knight for example feel very much like Pearson signings!
Also the way we want to play has changed from counter attacking to sustained attacks with pretty patterns-so what you are saying can't be correct!

Honestly, I won’t know until we see what happens over the rest of this season and the summers ins and outs.
But let’s just assume we get Tins no9 and no10 as per what he’s said as the significant signings and a bit of tit for tat with anyone else who leaves, gets replaced.
All things being equal, I’d expect:
- success to be playoffs
- met expectations to be a bloody good tilt at the playoffs, right in it up to the end(ish)
- failure a plodding season or worse
of course it can’t be as black and white as the above, but you get the gist. It can’t be a plodding season. I doubt that would get him the sack either, I think bottom half would be though.
Nor do I hope it’s 46 games like Swansea’s performance either.
Whatever I think of Conway, losing him is not like losing Scott or Semenyo.

how about you?
That Swansea performance was absolutely fine-we desperately needed a win that day and so we kept it tight and nicked one. You need to take the context of the position we are in, the opposition and the conditions for each match

It's not about whether anyone on here would sack him or not. That's not our decision and in reality we all know he isn't going anywhere whatever we might or might not do personally. The issue is that a number (and it's not a tiny number) still need to be persuaded to buy season tickets next season. I will get round to buying mine regardless right near the deadline for reasons I've already gone into but others need to see Liam produce something that they can get on board with. That's why performances in the next three games, two at home against the type of lower ranked teams we so often struggle against, before the deadline are crucial.
Not sure a couple of dead rubber games are going to have any bearing on that decision for me.
im expecting a transformed style next season after Liam shapes his squad and has a pre season to implement his methods. This season largely irrelevant for me

“Given the conditions” - One team coped with the conditions pretty well, I’d say that you’re just making an excuse.
”Ground out” - our keeper saved us.
It wasn’t a typical gritty, put it on the line performance. It was a weak performance. Effort-wise, heart-wise, I don’t think I’ve seen much worse of late. I could just blame Manning because that would suit you, but I can’t, because that was mainly on the players (some of them) today, for whatever reason. Although the shape early on was horrible
i think I’d prefer to go hungry if that’s the taste of humble-pie you’ve got on offer.
So you'd still sack manning?

I'm not blowing it out of proportion. It was a very poor performance. It was good to get a point. They were not overly affected by the conditions. They could have scored 6. What is out of proportion about that?
I'm talking about today, this game.
It wasn't that bad given the conditions. Ground out a decent point on the road. 7 points in 3 games since the bed wetters called for mannings head-hope there's enough humble pie to go round!

Why did it not affect them in the same way? They could have scored 6.
Thought the 2nd half was pretty even. A point away never to be sniffed at-let's not blow a dead rubber match in terrible conditions out of proportion
-
It was a poor performance but let's add some context please. The conditions were shocking-extremely windy, sun in the players eyes and litter swirling all over the pitch! It's also a meaningless game which we got a point out of!

Almost like getting James and twine back has made a difference. I hope all those bed wetters that lost faith enjoy their humble pie this evening
