Very strange decision, don't think you can blame Friend as he didn't give it until VAR told him to check the monitor

He could always say no, that’s bullshit and not a penalty?

He didn't get another chance to prove himself obviously his face didn't fit west Brom and wolves watching him.

All this interest But he’s ended up on trial at Derry, after what seems like multiple failed loans to the conference/ conference south?

To be clear, I have nothing against the kid and hope he makes a very good career for himself, but this obsession that it’s a travesty he’s not getting a new contract is all a bit weird!

  3. Nice being a local lad but let’s not take away from the facts.

He’s come back from a loan in the conference where he had been dropped from the side.

    He was poor throughout.

He was at fault for both goals

None of this means he won’t be a good player in the future, he is young and learning his trade, but In no world should he be ahead of Atkinson in a championship league game.

Poor management for me, especially putting him in a 2!

I've got no problem with players giving it back, but as others have said

    1. what on earth was he giving it back to, there was absolutely nothing to respond to
    2. why did it go on for so long, it was like he was seeing how much he could get away with.

If it was just run directly to home fans after a goal and make a song and dance of it fine, players do that every week, but he was still aiming stuff at home fans back on the halfway line.

Side question - if an away player is still disrespecting home fans for that length of time (which goes beyond the normal stuff) doesn't at least one home player lean in and have a word?

We just don't have that sort of player anymore. I seem to recall even our goalkeeper once ran the length of the pitch to address unnecessary goading of City fans by opposition players.

Probably no coincidence that same team fought for one another and the club and won a lot. Wish we had a nasty **** with a chip on their shoulder who treated AG more like "our house".

    This x1000!

Just stood waiting to kick off, at least someone get involved, bit of handbags but would whip the crowd up again.

After the winner he celebrated in Weimanns face, all he did was winge to the ref (who was obviously trying to hide the considerable spunk stain on his shorts after the winner), would have been nice to see a bit more fight, as you say, wouldn’t happen when Flint, Pack, Wilbraham or even Osbourne were in the team!

I imagine that’s the last time we’ll see him at the Gate, providing we don’t get relegated. He’s finished, as bad a player as I’ve seen at this level now, less mobile than Chris Martin!

That's the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen. Usually if you make a huge mistake (the Scott penalty which at 2-0 the games probably over) then you make up for it in the 2nd half but he doubled down!

Dunne should have had 2nd yellow for that foul on semenyo-was quite nasty and it broke up play so how was that different to kings?

he seemed to give them any foul and didn't give us one! Then he topped it off by missing the handball in build up to them getting corner they scored from!

That bald P**** genuinely cost us 3 points last night!

    This 100%
Why the players didn’t surround the ref, like QPR did with King, immediately after that is a mystery. Down to 10, bad decision on not getting a penalty, ref being absolute shite and having no control on the game

is Danny Simpson injured. if not where the hell is he. on decent money for doing what . anyone know what is up with him.

    1. No

    2. Not in the squad

    3. Is he on good money? Doubtful, imagine he’s one of the lowest paid

    4. Not really, doing a bit of coaching, bit of a big brother in the changing room, a clever club would put the majority of his ‘wage’ down as a coach to keep it Out of FFP ?

Even at LJs age, youngish, it must be a nightmare man managing players in their 20s and younger.

The world has changed so fast in recent years.

Playing Professional football was like being in the Army...you went to war every game.

And in going to war...you fought...and didn't think about offending anyone. It was full on. Take no prisoners, win, say whatever to get results.

    Now ..it's just woke central.

I'm really not sure how you go about it these days.

Didn't LJ say you had to put your arm around some to motivate and tell them how great they were, to get a result. Then others responded to a kick up the arse.

How do you motivate multi millionaires, set up for life, to give a damn about kicking a ball.

That Reminds me of another great LJ quote,

    ‘Who motivates the motivator’

  8. What are we doing for the next test then?

Does Root back himself to bowl 30 overs of spin that will be needed?

If not does Bess overtake Leach?

For me I don’t think you can pick both of the old uns with zero match overs in their legs!

Interesting most people are focussing on the bowling side, which on the whole performed ok.

Is there any batter who deserves to come in?

    Burns

    Hameed

    Malan

    Root

    Stokes

    Pope

    Buttler

    Robinson

    Wood

    Leach

    Anderson

Drops Woakes out which elongates the tail, but think Wood & probably Leach have to play.

  9. I feel stupid, after listening to the pre series podcasts/ interviews I’d given myself a lot of false hope - the balls going to be better, the players are ready, all their families have been with them, Australia haven’t played for a year, the wickets like England, Starcs shit and shouldn’t be playing, 6 left handlers so broad will roll them over in no time, Cummins will struggling juggling captaincy and bowling etc etc

In reality, it’s going to be an easy 4/5-0 win for the Aussies (weather dependant)

Such a poor opening pair, dull, salty Seam attack and let’s be fair a pretty shit spinner, albeit one that’s never really given a chance!

The big 4 from Australia will have a field day, I can even see Warner hitting runs.

  10. From my very limited ITK-ness, Nigel Pearson is running every single aspect of the football side. He’s essentially manager and Director of Football.

With his continuing health issues, I wouldn’t be surprised if at some point this season he moves upstairs and a young head coach comes in.
They were very keen on Russel Martin when Holden got the boot but obviously thought experience was needed.

Good to see Simpson going around the pitch with his arm around Tanner after the game, perhaps we shouldn’t dismiss the role Simpson is playing in the lad’s development?

Noticed he took time to have a walk round with his arm around Benarous as well. Definitely in for his experience more than his playing ability.

  12. It was worth sticking with it all the way through for Harry’s ‘the I love you that is Dean Henderson’ comment, completely out of nowhere!

On the whole a very good podcast, some guests I enjoy some I really don’t but not a lot I can do about it, they all tend to add something different.
