  1. I haven’t forgotten!! I was the one pushing caution over Bakinson in those first half a dozen games.
  2. …and I think this might be one reason why Nige hadn’t switched to a back 4 previously. Lets also not forget he had Naismith out injured (and James too for half of that period), Atkinson having his confidence built-up, the re-emergence of Pring, Vyner really settling into his best football, etc. And also Semenyo (Left Forward) has only just started to capture his form again. I most definitely don’t think Nige was being stubborn. Maybe certain things fell into line recently.
  3. I think it will be interesting to see where our 2022 wage bill sits when several more clubs announce last seasons accounts. But as you say whilst we still have players on pre-covid contracts it’s skewing our wage bill. Come this summer we won’t have any players on stupid (for now) deals.
  4. That’s why I want to see it. The y-axis use of zero to define blue or red is slightly misleading imho. Would like to see the opposite.
  5. I imagine the club with do a red zone video tomorrow seeing as we won. They’ve already posted the behind goal angle on Twitter this morning. Long run backwards shows he’s not really picked up the line of Naismith’s header, nor has he any clue of where Wells is. All Wells really does is gain half a yard on Long and get his body on a better line to chase the ball than Long. Once Wells has done that, Long either decides to try to run alongside him and put him off, or try to go on the line if the ball. Essentially he runs into the back of Wells. And that is the key for me as to why it wasn’t a foul.
  6. As Paul Weller sang “read between the lines and you’ll find the truth”!!!
  7. I’d love to see the opposite view. Shots on target (by opposition) minus goals scored by us….plotted similarly and then on top of each other.
  8. Didn’t he say something like “it’s like waiting for death”! One game later Paul Simpson said something like “we can’t sort it out”. Dean was rather naive during his stint here. It showed how reliant we were on 3 outfield players at the time. Mawson, Weimann and Paterson. All got injured. I do think the early season form was over-achieving and unsustainable, but I think with those three players we’d have been much better than we were without them. Bentley the other player who was excelling, although he was getting lots of practice! This is where you see how good players influence and raise the levels of others. And then you see the likes of Bakinson, Nagy, O’Dowda without them and they can’t raise their own games let alone any of their teammates.
  9. That be the one! Doesn’t understand them nor think they have a part to play! ?
  10. I’m gonna go out on a limb here, and prepared to be shot down, but I doubt there are any other WSL clubs as integrated as our. I wonder how much influence Nige had over Grace Williams (was at Watford) coming in? Mentoring the manager Lauren Smith, getting her involved in the men’s training, etc.. Keepers training together during WC break. It is one of those things which probably has zero relevance / influence on the men’s first team, and he could easily say “not my remit”, but it’s part of the club and he’s making sure it’s not just lip-service. When you listen to Tommy, Alex, etc, the one person they always mention is “Kingy”, it’s not “Jamo”, it might be “Kingy and Jamo”, but it’s always “Kingy”. That tells me a lot. Seems like he’s a big kid at heart so identifies well with them. Think he’s said they keep him young too. That is a perfectly valid view Negan.

I just think it’s such an easy chant.
  12. I wanted to post something similar RR. Before yesterday Brum’s defence was pretty miserly for a bottom-half team, and they had Long making his debut (and first appearance of the season), who had a ‘mare. They conceded 3 in their previous league game too. Firstly we played well, and that made them look poor, defensively at least. I looked back at their team and the usual suspects against us: - Hogan who has usually been a thorn in our side barely got a kick. I don’t recall any of his clever movement causing us issues, no runs in behind beating the offside trap - Colin is usually the epitome of a steady RB, 6/7 out of 10 every game. He got murdered by Pring and Semenyo - Bielik normally physically imposes himself on our (sometimes) powder puff midfield, but Scott ran him ragged, especially first half - Chong caused us problems with the ball but he didn’t seem interested in doing the hard work without the ball and that was why we were constantly able to create 1v1s / overloads So without trying to diminish City’s performance or think that’s it, we’ve turned the corner, I’m keen to see how we do against a team that are 1) better 2) play with a bit of defensive heart, etc.
  13. No, I know Joe…just saying that some of Weimann’s weaknesses are in fact his strengths too, just sometimes they don’t come off, sometimes they do. It will be interesting to see how the next half a dozen games pan out, and how we set up, with the likes Cov Weimann back available (soon I hope).
  14. I recall last season a certain poster who is no longer on here (no, not that one) kept going on about Pring’s lack of fitness. No consideration that it was his breakthrough season and the gruelling demands of Championship football from that poster. Another for Rennie and the team. Every game he’s started this season he’s completed the full 90. Seen a few comments elsewhere e.g. Twitter, saying Cam is a great attacking full-back but not so good defensively. Yeah, he gave away a pen yesterday, but his one-v-one defending is fantastic.
  15. @W-S-M Seagullta. I listened back last night. 20Man is a good interviewer, he put Gould under a lot of pressure with his questions. Gould was a bit woolly with some if his answers but got pressed and pressed.
  16. Nope, Oxford switched to a back 3 last season and he moved to RWB. (or were you being sarcastic?) FWIW when he was playing no10 pre-season, he did get interviewed and say it was a different “position” but the wording he used was more relevant to being asked to play that position differently, e.g. lots of runs forward, looking to roll his man, etc.
  17. I expect we have offered him a contract of equal standing to his current one, purely to get compo (u24 this country, u23 if he goes elsewhere). If you search PFCC or RSTP above, you’ll see I’ve written a fair bit about compo schemes.

Simply sing Syko Killer ad infinitum….run, run, run, run, run, run down the wing, oooooh, ohhhh, Syko Killer….
  19. CAM a lot to start with, then more RW, then towards end of his time at Oxford, at RWB.
  20. …and yet some say there has been no improvement under Nige in 2 years. Pring, Tanner, Vyner, O’Leary, Semenyo, Conway, Wells, Weimann (last season), Atkinson. Okay, some of their development will be “natural” due to age and gaining experience, their own desire, but surely Nige and the coaches deserve some credit too. I didn’t include Scott, he’s a bit different!
  21. That penalty he gave away was because actually he’s a robot, and was trying to make himself look human, in case anyone has sussed he’s not one. "I'm a cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton."
  22. I think that was more that KN was dropping deep to come and get the ball rather than changing position per se. Glad someone started a thread on GT, I thought it was a fine performance against Jordan Graham, who is a decent left sided player. He just does the basics, covered in behind Vyner just in case Deeney or Jutkiewicz win a flick, cleared his lines well too. Just his 8th start of the season (plus 3 subs), but he seems settled and confident.
  23. Zak played well. I’m bored of this (I’m joking btw)…I wanna talk about Tanner. Who I thought was bloody excellent today. Just what I want from my RB. On a serious point, I think we do need to stop treating Zak like he’s 21 and just breaking through. I’m bloody delighted he’s playing well and justifying his place, but I think there comes a time when we need to accept he’s a capable player now. Sorry! Back to Tanner….??? (I see he now has his own thread, ‘bout time)
