  1. Fox’s mate was called Albie wasn’t he, good name for a footballer. Tommy Archbold the scouser teammate when he played for England schools. Funny how stuff from 40+ years ago comes flooding back. Rarely had his books in the mobile library which stopped opposite my house as a kid, but when they did, I’d sit there and read in a couple of sittings.
  2. I do see Antoine a bit like Drogba (not aerially though). A scorer of good goals, a bloody handful, etc.
  3. 8 points from 6 games, same as us, but we’ve had 20 goals in our games. Wonder what most fans would plump for? Ill be watching out in which direction the first goal avalanche they have is, will it be a big win, or a big defeat? They are bound to have a game with plenty of goals at some point?
  4. Remember buying issue 1, and subscribing in the early days. Was excellent. Haven’t read it for years though.
  5. I’ll probably resort to Hesgoal….but someone will link to a good stream on the day.
  6. I still think it’s gonna be a closer league this year though.
  7. Although I will have a “Fevs” estimate for each players wage and I will track every in and out, I tend to work in more ballpark figures, because wages are really the biggest guesswork out there, ie. It’s gone up or down a bit / lot. Naismith will undoubtedly be the biggest earner of the 4. You’re forgetting the £8m we are getting for Andi Weimann ??? I do a player by player amortisation model….without knowing exact fees, on a circa £35m total asset value, I’m £150k out (less than 0.5% out). I’ll take that as an amateur!!! In the last year I’ve moved my calculations from an annual amortisation cost to a monthly one, so if a player extends mid year I can factor in the correct residuals. Overall, I put a fair bit of effort into it, but it really isn’t meant to be exact. If I’m within £3m either way when the accounts come out, I’ll be dead chuffed. Of course the Ashton Gate / Holdings stuff really is an unknown for me. Got no idea how much Elton helps! ?
  8. I did…basically adjusted for increased revenue. But don’t take it too seriously, it’s just a set of guesstimates. As I said earlier, my estimates are for both 21/22 and 22/23…so two years, probably got lots of differences in them. They can be refined once 21/22 accounts are published.
  9. Especially when the EPPP / Premier League 2 (u23) was supposed to be the way forward for PL Club youngsters.
  10. ? % This is a poor relation to the LDC, FRT, JPT etc.
  11. Nope….the irony of your user name ??? Nigel Pearson is not the correct answer, so no correction required. Correct Ronnie. Reminds me of a young Gary Pallister (not Nige or Phlegm) in the way he moves and passes the ball. You win a piece of data of your choice.
  12. 4-2 now, I maybe went a bit early on this one ?
  13. Nope. I thought that would be everyone’s first guess, then Fleming. The correct answer is still out there!
  14. Burton 4-0 Leicester u21s - after 12 minutes.
  15. Only full 90 I’ve seen was Peterborough and he was very good. Seen highlights (extended ones against Chippenham) and his short debut in last seasons pre-season friendly. Want to see him against someone who stretches him in behind, because he’s pretty dominant with stuff in front of him. Basically I want to see his mobility and what he’s like on the turn. Certainly capable on the ball. Reminded me of a young Middlesbrough defender in the mid, late-80s. Can you guess who?
  16. Plus Michael Hardcastle - author of the teen football books, Free-Kick, On The Run, etc (the Mark Fox series) was a Huddersfield fan too. Used to love his books as a kid. He visited our school.
  17. Agree. Certainly there is no intention to soak up pressure. We try to win the ball back early in the possession in their defensive third, and if we can’t trigger it, we drop into a block between halfway and their 40 yards out. Its not always successful though. With the ball, our intention is to play through Naismith and the midfield, sometimes using Atkinson, less so Vyner. Its not always successful though. What we also see is our transition when we break up their patterns, and vice versa when we get transitioned on. Sometimes we are transitioning off of the back of their transition. It makes football very fluid.
