  1. Mr P, from Athletic. Reference to CCCD.
  2. Makes you wonder doesn’t it?
  3. Lee Rodgers, Rob Newman, Mark Hughes, Steve Johnson, Howard Pritchard, Keith Curle Alex Lockhart (Physio), Gary Marshall, Alan Walsh, Keith Waugh, xxxxxx, Nigel Smith Steve Neville, Andy Llewellyn, Bobby Hutchinson, Martyn Hirst, Brian Williams I’m sure we’ve had this before but who is xxxxxx?
  4. King, Tanner, O’Dowda all back in full training, but not necessarily ready for selection. Palmer doing some solo training following his knee injury.
  5. Teams who appear on live Sky games, get paid per appearance (home team between something like £70k-£100k depending on the time slot, away team circa £10k). Not to be confused with the overall TV Deals: Sky TV Deal (Solidarity payment) - circa £4.5m (teams getting PPs don’t get this) EFL TV Deal (League Pool) - circa £2.5m So, although you don’t get anymore money for finishing higher up the league, you could argue that you might get more tv appearance money….but it’s clear Sky have their favourites. In fairness much of it will be how much advertising revenue they can make from these games…hence the wink-fest over certain clubs. If Everton come down, I dread to think how often they’ll be on!
  6. Out of interest, who? The only one I can think of is Dwight Gayle. Gray and Maguire weren’t unrealistic, they were allegedly done deals. That season we signed PL Baker, L.Moore on loan. We signed Fredericks from PL. Later in the season we signed Tomlin and Odemwingie on loan. We had momentum. Those signings showed the others that didn’t happen weren’t unrealistic.
  7. Can you find a link. Harry said the same, I can only find Robinson saying they will take up option, not that they have. Could be a promotion based option, in which case Robinson might be trying to dampen interest??? I like Ihiekwe, but at 29 I’m not so sure. Re McLaughlin, don’t mind admitting he’s missed my radar…maybe because of Greaves and Barnard….he’s a bit like the 5th Beatle!!! Helik is a good shout.
  8. Tomorrow: Ipswich announce a promotion for Luke Werhun to whatever role his “relative” gives him!
  9. I think the good ship Østigård has sailed unfortunately, but I’d be looking at Mads Andersen at Barnsley (24), dominant CB, can play in a high line too. In an ideal world, Kalas would be a great partner for him. I think Atkinson will know what it’s all about next season too. Andersen will have a year left, v.likely to be in Lg1, low wages (Barnsley pay crap) and that’s why I think we might be able to get him. There are a couple of free transfer Champ CBs but they might get extended…so seeing what happens. Otherwise…. Shame Reading look like staying up, McIntyre I like. Ditto Hull with Greaves, although he’s left sided. D’Shon Bernard is on loan from Man Utd, and contract expires in the summer. Think these will be beyond us in our current financial state, but if we do sell or get a sell-on, we could move. Otherwise we are into Lg1 with the likes of Elliott Moore and Jordan Storey (at Wednesday on loan from PNE, suggesting surplus to requirements). Storey is ex-Exeter, so a move back to the SW might be tempting? Over the coming weeks we will hear a bit more conjecture re players availability come the summer, both our own players and other clubs!
  10. Bristol City Fans - our players are stealing a living, the board haven’t gotta clue Nigel Pearson - some of our players are passive, the club is passive Bristol City Fans - how dare you criticise the players and club ??? ???
  11. That surprises me, but good news, nonetheless. ??
  12. Undoubtably good in the air, I’ve always found him a bit “clumsy” on the deck both defensively and on the ball. I’m not sure the upside is there in a 28 year old who spent an injury ravaged loan at Rotherham in the Champ, pretty much his only spell at this level. OOC this summer, but Pompey’s year option is reliant on promotion, which looks a bridge too far this season. I think there are better options, but just my opinion. Here’s some stats.
  13. Firstly… …you are completely entitled to your opinion on NP. There are some very good debates going back and forth. I don’t think there’s any posters on here who think he’s the messiah, there are some that think he’s done well enough to not deserve a “results-based only” criticism. There are some on the NP-negative side that put together well founded arguments as to their view. It is this type of debate that makes OTIB a very good forum. Secondly… Re the numbers, there have been many, many posts over the past few years quoting websites like Sportrac, who promote their salary info as FACT. It’s not not difficult to look behind these figures in terms of other media news, football manager websites, club quotes etc, and see that although some will be in the right ball-park, others are a combo of made-up / guesswork and out of date guesswork too. For info, probably the most trusted ITKer on OTIB said Simpson’s re-signed contract in the summer was basically a coaches wage plus appearance money (or words to that effect). Kid has given us some pretty good insight on player salaries. That’s not to say he’s right, but he has historically had good contacts. Re Weimann, the “story” is that he pretty much halved his wages to get 3 years. Other clubs (Stoke we think) only wanted to give him 2 years. Pearson actually stated words to that effect. Silvio’s explanation re Weimann is a good example of how to debunk the Sportrac stuff. Re Baker, the “story” is he took quite a chunk off his wages and has a more “performance related” deal for his 2 year re-signed contract. He was OOC in reality, tried the market and found out he couldn’t get what he thought he was worth. Pearson backed up the lower wage bit, the other bit about “performance related” is conjecture. But it’s pretty likely he’s no on the £18-20k p.w. he allegedly was on when he moved from Villa, having taken a relegation cut at Villa from a £35k p.w. PL deal. The bits above aren’t me saying “I know” either, just me using what’s been reported / said to poo-Pooh those pesky websites. I’ve not seen their contracts, nor have Sportrac! Its up to you how much you want to take them at face value.
  14. I didn’t know about those other offers at the time. Remember the “training cone” and “wanting to settle” comments though. Suspect he thought the he was signing to play alongside Webster too!!! ?
  15. Kalas’s fee (should be be sold) is likely to be dependent on a number of factors, e.g. who buys him and from what League (home or abroad), whether he wants to stay here and the contract offer we can make, etc, etc. I think he will move in the summer. @petehintonmade me wobble a bit last week, but I think it’s a position Pearson wants a specific ball winning defender for, and Kalas - as good as he is - is a different sort. I’m impatient for summer contract and transfer news. ?
  16. I believe every ticket has to be allocated to a unique person.
  17. Whilst I made a similar point on a previous page, I also see other teams who can pass it, but not go anywhere with it, have no cut and thrust, etc. Ultimately / selfishly it’s about getting players to the first team. Failing that, it’s getting them pro careers. Failing that, it’s giving them direction for a career outside of the pro game (whatever that may be). Currently we are doing that part pretty well. In some respects it’s helped by our current position, bottom third, rather than say top third…but there are big pressures on playing the kids whether you are top or bottom of the table. They are currently saving us £££s, when £££s are hugely relevant.
  18. Spot on @Gol?????? Just one minor point, we’d also avoid having to pay the £2m of amortisation too. So you can look at it as either: £1m transfer profit plus £2m amortisation avoided, or… £3m in total (plus wages, assuming buying club take on his wages). Selling Kalas for £3m would bring us pretty much into £39m ffp territory.
  19. Bentley was interviewed by 20Man the other week, pretty much confirmed it. Peter Crouch podcast too. As others have said, there is no restriction to showing leadership if you don’t have the armband.
  20. Moller for me. John Shaw was the first City keeper I saw, I was too young for Gibson, or Cashley. Really liked Keith Waugh too, and in recent years Niki Maenpaa. Only saw Basso a couple of times, and Welch was decent too. But Moller no1.
  21. Haha….the third one was a video I took and posted on YT! Rock painting a Borussia Mönchengladbach badge was very early lock down!
