  1. Sandhurst? Red? You not Richard Gould are you? ??? Great post btw. I think he’s had his boots up the backside, last season, and earlier this season. What I did like was that Nige was petulant when recognising he played decently against Stoke. For me that says “has ability, has the wrong attitude”. And that’s not enough. And get some fans moan that players “steal a wage”. Not a phrase I like per se, but we’ve been calling out for a while to have a strong character as manager. With rumours of other clubs interested (Blackpool, Hull), I would imagine any fee is a bit better than nominal, albeit not large either. My guess fwiw is £350k (what we paid for him allegedly). I hope he does ok at Ipswich because it makes him more attractive to bids in the summer. Not too well though ??? According to sum, Nige treats the press conferences with contempt…not if you get him going eh @redsquirrel ???
  2. Ward AND Linningtom….eff me. A shit sandwich if ever I saw one.
  3. Rumoured that Blackpool and Hull were after him….and fits the narrative from Nige that he’s not gonna help another team in our league unless it’s the right deal. If true, then 2 other clubs think he’s championship ability.
  4. I’ve started adjusting my estimates of “covid allowances” down a bit. I said before (agree with @BTRFTG) that the cost of creating some of that Income won’t have been incurred. It won’t be possible to be totally accurate, e.g. how will EFL deal with £x million of lost season ticket revenue, but £y million of increased Robinstv payments? As you say Swiss Ramble’s calculation a bit quick and dirty.
  5. Haven’t listened yet. re Nige’s interview, it seems him and @BTRFTGare more aligned on ages of players breaking into the first team (doffs cap?) and holding down a spot. Nige says 18/19….I think a bit older. In my defence, as per my “one loan too many” article, I am definitely an advocate of at least finding out early whether they can swim straight away or not. In the past we haven’t given players a chance early enough. I do believe that players like Benarous have benefitted from training daily as part of the first team group, let alone playing.
  6. Because I’d rather him than Dasilva currently (size of Cardiff), and I’d rather play Pring LCB than shuffle him to LWB in place of O’Dowda and then play Vyner | Kalas | Atkinson. I want my gurt big’un central! As I said it’s got compromises. I’m hoping O’Dowda plays better than v Fulham. Havent seen any Robins Uncut this week…who knows Cundy might make his debut. I guess we will get some signs from Nige tomorrow.
  7. They appear to have players going through the motions.
  8. Digressing slightly, I think Martin will start Saturday alongside Semenyo, and Weimann back into midfield / 10. It’s then perm James, King and Massengo for the other two places. I’d go: O’Leary Kalas | Atkinson | Pring Scott | James | Massengo | O’Dowda Weimann Semenyo | Martin Its got compromises but hey-ho. Ideally I’d like to see Pring at LWB, but that can wait for a different opponent.
  9. Would Tammy get any goals outside the “D” though? ???
  10. @BTRFTGi didn’t start going until 78. My first game was Liverpool (1-0 Royle shanked volley), my second game was Coventry a few weeks later on Boxing Day (5-0 Royle hatrick). It wasn’t until some years later I looked at his stats and saw how poor they were bar those 2 games and his debut! I slightly exaggerated his appearances though!
  11. Can Morris be stopped from being a Director?
  12. Indeed, well-funded, absolutely, but even then you might argue irresponsibly funded. It’s fine having a nice ground and training facilities if the squad keep pace with the ambition.
  13. I’m really torn between wanting Derby to be saved (for the sake of staff and their good fans) and them to go bust as it will show a big club can go under…and hopefully lead to positive reform. Bury weren’t big enough unfortunately to trigger the right changes.
  14. Yep, he scored 4 on debut, a hatrick v Cov on Boxing Day, and another 12 goals in 120-odd games!
  15. A more up to date one. There is a suggestion that age will come down a bit because if financial pressures, e.g. like City.
  16. Possibly. I think the advent of u23 football, the loan system, the demise of Reserve Teams (except the likes of Brentford B and a few others) has had an impact. Dozens…yep. A useful graphic to show how few minutes are played by youngsters in the Champ. All I’m really trying to say is that Semenyo at just turned 22 hasn’t peaked yet…so not the time to form an opinion (yet) that his previous record is an indication of the future. Not forgetting he’s late to the pro game too.
  17. The stupid thing is that our ex-CEO (left for some reason in the summer for Ipswich ?) modelled himself on Dan Ashworth. Dan’s model is he is that the centre of everything (football related). Ashworth is Technical Director, Paul Barber, CEO and Paul Winstanly, HOR and Analysis. So, what I never understood was how Ashton didn’t have a conflict of self-interest trying to play all of those roles. Basically he marked his own homework. Not helped by SL and JL and their hands-off approach. I think eventually City will evolve their current set up with mist Gould and Pearson.
  18. Believe it or not, 22 is young in modern football. The age of Players breaking through and becoming regulars has gone up, due to the physical demands of modern day football. As is the age of players still playing, it’s got older. In “our day”, 30 was ready for the knacker’s yard, now it’s not. The likes of Scott are the exception.
  19. They can’t force a player.
