  1. Very disjointed half....few better possession signs in last 10 mins, but that was ironically when Boro scored. Haven't been able to get enough players on the ball. Palmer been very sloppy, allowing Spence to get toe in too often. Vyner poor too. Needs to give Jones a good whack. Boro sitting deep, but we are playing straight balls, which leave the receiver with no real option, need to change our passing lines.
  2. Our best spell of possession, Scott muscled off it, Vyner needed to do better on Jones
  3. Ball hasn't come right...so Weimann not in it. Palmer a bit loose so far. Watching balls go over our heads
  4. Baker swapped left / Atkinson right - Baker on Ikpeazu (strong v strong). Flexibility to play either side!!!
  5. Yep, there was nothing he could do to change the squad last season, no window, etc.
  6. Antoine is great on Robins TV....just said about teams leaving poo in the toilet!!!
  7. No, its fickle, its knee-jerk....to any excuse they can find. Not everyone of course, some will back up and have good rationale....but some comments are pathetic.
  8. Disagree, he can write whatever he likes....he's writing for his audience in this piece, the fans....not to Nige. If he does that in a media interview that's very different. Huge difference between both channels.
  9. NP: Callum not worth risking with games Tues / Fri...will need squad over this next 7 days.
  10. Nige said not in contention, at least a couple of weeks away, and will be careful about how he managed in his come back. For me, no point risking him this side of international break.
  11. If O’Dowda is fit then I think 10/11 start….my only question is who plays “just off of Martin”….Scott, Palmer or Wells. If O’Dowda not fit I see Palmer playing there. Im happy with any 13/14 permed into 11 though. I doubt Nige wants to sell Kalas, but it could give him the option to recruit what he needs. Fans will need to be mindful of what level of CB he can bring in….1) depends how much he wants to spend on a striker and 2) convincing a CB to come if Baker and Atkinson are first choice. Interesting times. Of course it could be a load of tosh.
  12. Pretty much 442 imho, Scott played closed to Martin. But I actually recorded it as 4411. It’s not a 1 striker 3 forward 4231 imho. But I ain’t gonna lose any sleep over it, ok, maybe a bit ? In terms of fluidity, no surprise that Weimann often ends up centrally. Just take the goal: Martin in the Blackpool sandwich but it’s Scott the furthest forward, Weimann waiting to pick up loose ball on right side. You can see shape, back 4, King and James CM, Palmer LW, etc. King crosses, he has Alex Scott on right wing outside him, who’s made a 30 yard run wide, Vyner beyond everyone on the overlap. Weimann has run offside but attracts Martin’s marker, who lets Martin peel off the back of him. Edge of box, Palmer and King. One other thing (that I didn’t notice when doing these) is that both Baker and Dasilva are t stood hands on hip on halfway line, they are squeezing too. So we attacked with 7 players, the front 6 and the RB. Scott is now RW, Weimann CM, James box-2-box. Much more fluid from a basic set up.
  13. It probably won’t be then ??? I don’t see Nige playing Wells left wing. He’s got plenty of other options, he won’t pi$$ about just to fit Wells in. Wells either starts as one of two “forwards” or not imho. CB pairing unlikely to be changed, Kalas has allegedly handed in a transfer request. ??
  14. I’ve read the pre-match presser transcript and i thought the questions and answers were fine. Will listen later to see if anything in the tone. But a pre-match interview is a different beast to a reporter’s article suggesting a different set-up. Nige really isn’t gonna be reading this type of article. It’s an article for fans, Gregor’s audience. I doubt he even reads the pre-match stuff. As such I have no problem with the article. Personally I didn’t quite get his arguments for the system he was proposing. I think someone earlier mentioned that Holden’s system was very different (5122) so trying to use that as a foundation might be flawed.
  15. Agree in the main….the Man Utd game / performance wasn’t what we saw each game, some were very workmanlike, attritional victories, especially at home. They key for me was how condensed we were and able to pressure teams on the ball, and keep the pressure on when we had it. The personnel changed as you say….but those autumn months were great to watch from my point of view, because I saw a “team” and what looked like a plan.
