  1. Think the image from transfermarkt in my post above shows that he’s been asked to play Central Midfield in the vast majority of games. So hardly here there and everywhere! And then you suggest playing him in ANOTHER position? ?? Yep, and a valid reason he wants to leave….no arguments at all from me on that score. But most of us are discussing his ability on the pitch. If his outside world is having that big an impact on his playing performances, then it was a bad recruit from us and a poor decision to come here from us. But on alleged £16-18k p.w you might see the motivation??? Ultimately he’s an okay CM in the Championship, technically decent on the ball, great stamina, ill-disciplined off the ball on occasion and weak in the tackle. He has admitted himself he hasn’t settled. Hopefully we will sell him on for favourable financial returns….but i genuinely don’t see us releasing much for a striker from this deal. Asset Value £750k….so only anything over this amount will really help. Plus will be take a wage cut? Can’t see many clubs in Europe wanting to pick up that on top of a fee. Over to you Richard Gould….try and rescue some money from your predecessor!
  2. Really though one this….we haven’t really played a “sitter” since he got injured….we didn’t really play one in his first game and a half for us….it was already a midfield alongside Brownhill and Palmer. Lots of two sided questions: Has he adapted / should we have played more like Hungary? Did he take his chances in different central midfield roles / did we expect him to do well in unfamiliar roles? Was he really expected to be so one-dimensional? etc Its not a one sided argument, failures on both sides imho. Ultimately he hasn’t hit the levels with any consistency. Overall it’s a poor recruit because we haven’t got the best out of him, but nor has he excelled or contributed enough either. He’s only played wide a couple of times, Pearson just trying to get through the season with whatever he had available to him. The vast majority of games hes played CM in various roles.
  3. Good, sense of realism post. It’s gonna take a bit of time to knit together, but there were plenty more positive signs than negative signs weren’t there?
  4. He is a sitter……for Hungary! For City, he’s a runner, who allows himself to be sucked to the ball in an ill-disciplined way. That’s a generalisation, as he has qualities too. He’s rarely played the same way for city as he does for Hungary, albeit very different systems….which makes me continually question his suitability for City / Champ.
  5. Excuse, after excuse tonight on radio. Has he ever wondered why teams love playing against his team’s….has he ever wondered whether his players might like to play against a team who aren’t desperate to put their manager in his place. Circus. Rovers must be hoping they can find a reason to sack him and avoid a pay-off.
  6. Difficult fee to judge because of wages too. He might need to take a drop in wages too. European football isn’t awash with money, well, not at the clubs likely to be after Adam.
  7. Yes. Right back no longer wants the ball passed to him. The Terry Cooper stuff was very moving. It built a fantastic atmosphere in the ground.
  8. Imagine Dan White???? Young, black hair? Toby is doing the 3 Peaks Chsllenge this weekend.
  9. Heard last night he (Scott) was starting. Crowd is gonna be buzzing.
  10. Heard last night he (Scott) was starting. Crowd is gonna be buzzing.
  11. Limping towards adversity? Ashton is O’Leary’s man. If it goes pear-shaped, Cook will be the scapegoat.
  12. Makes 24 hours to Tulsa seem like a short walk! Believe it or not I don’t think we’ve played 4231 in pre-season apart from perhaps Exeter (a) when Scott played off of Wells. Weimann partnered Martin in a 442 v Celtic. Palmer played very close (almost as another striker) to Martin v Pompey, Plymouth and Villa (I called it a 4411). Conway partnered Wells in a 442 v MK Dons. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter, but when we see 4231 we often think it’s 2 holding midfielders. James isn’t naturally a holding / defensive midfielder, he likes to burst forward. King certainly isn’t, although his opportunity to join the attack (Leicester days) might be slightly diminished in a City side. So I don’t see the central two being classed as the en vogue double pivot that gets mis-used by people. So I expect City to be more fluid under what Robbored describes as 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 forwards.
  13. Not sure about subs, but I think that will be the starting eleven, and Scott starting will give the home crowd one helluva buzz. I don’t think Nige will pick Scott because of that, but if there was that rationale you could understand it. First game back, young exciting 17 year old in the eleven….crowd are gonna be right behind him.
  14. God, I’ve just read it…..it’s awful isn’t it. I thought Johnson was David Brent, but Ashton is worse. They must’ve spent so much time sucking each other off.
  15. Yes, both available. Being the right thing to select them is a different matter.
  16. Think this is for those players they are trying to sign or have gone past expired contract. What a mess. PFA need to be involved.
  17. Suspect they are playing silly buggers with their accounts, either miles off in their 20/21 projections or 21/22 or both. Fans need to understand it’s not just the formal accounts that get used but the interim projected returns they submit, which will be tracked. You can’t just say we are gonna make a profit in 20/21 and then ignore til the the actual accounts confirm a huge difference. Fans are naive if they think this.

  19. End of July will be because clubs are contracted to to pay a months severance upon expiry of contract on 30th June. If a player finds a contract elsewhere, the. They forego the month’s “pay”. So Derby we’re probably waiting to see if they could save Davies’s month’s money….it’s backfired.
  20. Got to say I only had a glance at their recent accounts and although over the £39m (or 4 year equivalent), I’m pretty sure they are Cat 1, so probably lob off £5m p.a. so probably ok. Armstrong going at some point will help, but allegedly a 40% sell-on to Newcastle, so they won’t realise as much from that as necessary. Looks like they’re budgeting accordingly.
  21. A team that might be a competitor to make it into the bottom 8 this season.
  22. She has. Scored within a minute of coming off the bench on her debut.
  23. Is it worth watching….not seen any of it?
