  1. "The time will come soon, if nothing is done about our club, they will soar away from us forever. But at the moment, still, with 8,000 in our poxy stadium and in L1, and 17,000 in their theatre of screams, we could still keep up. A new stadium and we can easily get 15,000. It can be done. Whether it will be done is a different matter." Why can they not tell the truth?? 12 Bristol City Total attendance: 481,916 Total games: 23 Average attendance: 20,953
  2. Post by lpgas on 4 hours ago I think we has about 21,000 and City about 24,000. It's just that they can get them in to their ground
  3. Hahahaha Question, how many real Bristol Rovers and Bristol City fans are there overall? What I mean is if you were to ask the people of Bristol and beyond what football club do they support, how many first clubs would be either Rovers or City? You cant go by current gate averages alone as many fans from both clubs cant get to games due to work, family, lack of money, living away etc..etc. Im also not asking for either clubs diehard support core which is around 6,000 for us and 10,000 for City when things get bad at either club over the years. You also cant go by the support that either club takes to wembley as apart from our conference final we always take 35,000/40,000 as do City. We still took 31,000 in 2015 when our club was at its lowest ever point. Im talking about the fans that Rovers or City are the first result that they look for on a saturday at 5pm? Those who turn into the radio for games, read the evening post match reports, go online to see the hightlights, read on either clubs forums.Banter with the oth http://gaschat.co.uk/thread/12965/bristols-clubs-fanbases
  4. Post by Weeezord on 53 minutes ago "I realise our ground is a shithole before anyone gets on the defence, but have they spent any money bringing up that stand behind the goal which (last time I had any interest) looks sh**?" I realise this is an incredible reach but even still I'm really going to try reaching*
  5. Huge in comparison right now but unlike long established, genuinely big championship clubs like Derby, Forest, let along the recently ex Prem sides, they can be caught because of a fickle fanbase, sh** manager who will never get them up and is more likely to take them down, and when Lansdown senior pegs it, a vacuous silver spoon social media hungry spoilt brat as an owner, who is quite likely to throw his toys out of his cot the minute he gets criticised. Of course, we need a genuine injection of finance to enable a couple of seasons challenging at the right end of league One and then promotion. If Burton can do it on smaller gates than we get now then so can we. ilst it does look nice, I wouldn’t ever want Rovers to lose their identity in the same way that City have with Bristol Sport. If we manage to build a decent stadium somewhere suddenly the gap between us starts to look smaller, they’ve never been able to shake us off and never will.
  6. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha One Rovers fan has cracked it.. "The better teams who visit the mem have one thing in common - they are all well versed in the dark arts of controlling a game with 'gamesmanship' like time wasting, feigning injury, stealing yards at throw ins and 'managing' officials who almost always are oblivious to what is going on. We have been too nice for some time now and whilst taking the higher ground is fine in principle it's not getting us anywhere if the other team is getting away with it. "
  7. "Reporter: Are you concerned?" "Clarke: Oh very very concerned, very concerned.." "Clarke: I care passionately about the football club but I'm not seeing enough caring about it in the dressing room right now.." "Off the field, we’re in a really good spot. I knew it was a challenge from day one but also a big opportunity and I think we’re really starting to put the foundations in place now that will support the club for the next few years.” "Not everything has gone smoothly, the new family stand has still not be built but Gorringe admits that can happen when you are as ambitious as the club were this summer in their off-field improvement projects." "Like I said we’re in a good spot, there’s been partial delays in a couple of areas but the majority of the work we’ve undertaken has been to time and to a high standard.” "That’s what happens when you make wholesale changes to playing staff. There is no identity or spirit it seems. The likes of MM, Mildy, Parkes, Monkhouse, Brown, Ellis, Manse, Easter and Taylor all made up for any shortcomings with sprit and you could sense that those players would die for each other on the football pitch. That carried us a long way. Others have said this side reminds them of recent relegation sides and I would have to agree."
  8. Luton/Barnet are my local’ish teams now, considered going today but then realised what I’d be watching and came to my senses. All Luton up here.

  10. Security concerns following the Gas supporters attempting to get at the children when they came down to see us last season.
  11. Don't let that get in the way of a good laugh

Has he got a club at the moment? There were rumours a month or so ago that the Central Coast Mariners were after him. Looks like we might be going for Ross McCormack instead now.
  13. They can't even fill that stand ? #loyalandprowed
  14. Holloway has always been Rovers, my old man used to play county football with him & lived on the same road, Holloways mum still lives there. My dad was playing for the u16s at the time, Holloway was in the same team when he was 12.
  15. I think it is an improvement except the post are a bit thicker than the tent posts.. I am thinking of transferring there as the bloke with the big head is still stalking me
  16. This whole thread sums it all up. Compare where we thought we might be when the owners took over, and look at where we are now. Debating metal vs canvas roofs, some being happy with a bit of painted plywood, losing all our best players and signing cast-offs and risks, treading water at best in L1 with no real prospect of promotion, no news from the owners, no new stadium, no training ground, no plans for the future, a real risk of losing DC, season ticket sales down, prices up, attendances down, Not quite what some of us had hoped for in those early days. If the rest of you are happy with where we are now, then you must be easily pleased. My opinion, or whine, is that you are deluding yourselves.
  17. “Just been up the Mem. They’ve only gone and put the stand up back to front! Decent view of Mrs Jones’ back garden though.” “I probably need to learn to lower my expectations but I was expecting a cantilever roof like all new stands at virtually every other football club in the country.”
  18. "What was seen was pretty moderate and we will talk to our TV engineers and media teams to find out what happened."
  19. In response to them qualifying for later rounds of the league cup.. there's no point in not taking this one seriously. I recall a couple of great runs to the quarter finals back in the day that had Eastville rocking. Anyway, we have to go one better then the sh**e, don't we?
