  1. At last.
    A SQUAD!!!

It don’t seem to matter who we start with then take off we have the replacements who give their all.

Still think we will fall short of a playoff place but the momentum is as good as I’ve seen.

And that smirk on LM face at the final whistle said it all.

    Well done lads. 🔴⚪🔴

Gotta say, I really enjoyed Forest last night without all that ultra garbage.

Proper Bristol City songs being belted out without being drowned out by the dirge ultra songs.

    That’s the annoying thing

Most away games our lot can create some serious noise

    Home 🙄🙄🙄🙄

    Fair and valid points.

It is a bit of a copout but I would also suggest that the majority being all-seater and it is a product of the times doesn't help with it.

If seated people are more passive. Often. We are almost conditioned to be so..

    *Majority all-seater.

*The loud music stifling potential for a more partisan atmosphere

*The slightly unsuited pre game music as we get closer to kick off.

    *Downsy.

A bigger or 2nd Safe Standing area perhaps a 2nd one closer to away fans may set the tone.

Some of this is modern game related, some is City specific.

I’d agree to all of this

Quite frankly i can’t see what Downsy brings to the show (not being rude to him)

It saddens me to know and have been at Ashton Gate when the noise and atmosphere has been unreal.

Even when the old East End was sort half and half with away fans our lot could create a din.

It really needs to be sorted by the club.

Hopefully they have employees who read things like this and pass it on.

    Riaz,

Genuine question, what songs are loud and intimidating?

“If you are a Rovers fan surrender or you’ll die”

”We are the East End we are the East End we are the East End of Ashton Gate”

One thing that I can add from speaking to the club, any potential moves wont happen before the 24/25 season at the earliest

    Yeah

But it’s good to hear there is dialogue

Atmosphere is not really about people singing specific songs, it's more to do with them just making a bloody racket in response to lively events on the pitch, encouraging the team forward, encouraging the team to attack, putting pressure on the officials, hounding an opponent. Just shouting come on or even something more guttural and primal. Just making some noise. Rrrrraaaaggghhh!!

Unfortunately, the limp style of modern football mostly centred around the halfway line going sideways and back between central defenders and wing/full backs and the keeper sends many to their phones, their daydreams or the concourse.

What we need to get an atmosphere at AG is not more or different or old songs, what we need is action in the final third and a busy visiting goalkeeper and a visibly up for it and energised team putting the opposition on the back foot for sustained periods, their woodwork rattling as the ball pings about their penalty area.

But we don't see anything of the sort at AG for anywhere near long enough in any game, and so for long long periods of time we sit and stare as we pass it about just inside our half across the halfway line (with a bloke three rows behind you bellowing into the silence: "Get it forward!") or we watch the opposition with their £83m squad dominating the ball and bearing down on our back five and Max time and again.

There's just not enough of the sort of football at the right end of the pitch that might wake us from our West Country slumber and get us out of our seats to make the sort of atmosphere that Leeds fans will make at Elland Road (like when they came back from 2 down to draw 2:2 with us a few years ago; when do we ever bombard the opposition like that at AG? Not even the time we came back from 2 down to Leeds to draw 2:2 at home but then we had "atmosphere" that night, as Leeds "f*cked it up") Because Leeds have £83m of players, and they have the ball; we have £8.3m of players, and we keep giving them the ball.

It's partly the modern style of overly coached "idealogical" halfway-line-and-back-to-the-keeper (then hoof!) football, partly having poorer players than the opposition and so not having the ball and so unable to pin them in and put them under pressure, and three parts Bristolian/West Country indifference. Plus smart phones.

And the lack of belief that there's really anything going on here at the moment, the sense of going around in circles, and the sense of aimless drift.

    Good post.

I really hope the club can address this problem for the 24/25 season.

There must be a way to shuffle the fans that are current season ticket holders to both sides. It wont really affest their views ans perhaps a little "dangle of a carrot" will help.

Then offer all thos in section 82 yhe oppertunity to take up this area.

When they start singing its bound to get fans joining in on each side and then creating a much better atmosphere.

I don't think it was that quiet, but away supporters always sing more than home ones - we do - and Leeds had something to sing for; all we had was attempts to inspire an inept display and the prospect of getting soaked on the walk home. Despite the numbers, Leeds were not the loudest away support we've hosted. In fact, they seemed to spend half their time obsessing about some fat bloke rather than singing about the match.

The location of respective singers isn't helpful, I'll agree.

I thought the singing section of which i hate the name was really poor. Same boring songs over and over again. Nothing new or creative it was just dire. As an old East Ender I hate what the club have done. The old East End was fantastic. Everyone felt together as one. All that has been lost because of our board.

As you can tell i am ****** off tonight.

(omg my weekend ruined because 11 men didn't play how i wanted them to play. i am so sad).

    That’s the thing

Same boring bloody songs stuck in a corner.

City fans can create superb atmosphere away from home.

It’s a bit like a caged lion at AG

Won't happen. City are a cosy club with zero edge and hostility. Just nothing about them anymore.

But surely the manager and players want the best atmosphere every game ????

Its so rubbish as it stands

  11. Can someone explain to me why the club promote this singing area when quite frankly it brings nothing to the atmosphere in the stadium ?

That’s no dig at the lads in there doing their best but it’s dreadful.

Many of you will remember when the East End was rammed and the noise fantastic.

Even when we had two blocks in the Atyeo it created some serious noise.

As sad as it is for me to admit it that lot up the road with their Blackthorn end puts us to shame.

Leeds fans tonight were seriously loud but surely that ought to be us, the whole of the Atyeo perhaps?

Stick the bloody away fans in half the top of the Lansdown ?

  12. Although I quite like Matty James, Joe Williams is a better player when fully fit!

Personally think Andy King and Matty James will be off.

Hopefully Taylor Hickman will be offered a contract and he will sign. He has actually said how much he loves it here.

We defo need another keeper and an out and out goal scorer.
