Just spoke to Martin, fair to say my brother hasn't had the best start to his holiday but he sounds absolutely fine, few bruised ribs nothing serious. He will be watching the game later on (hardly going to make him feel better!! ? ).

Thank you for comments, always appreciated.

He’s a top bloke but struggled with that bastard of an illness for a long time.

Use to love his early Saturday morning posts about having a huge cooked breakie all washed down with the finest grey goose vodka

    Bless him

I've spent all night trying to come up with a witty post about how many Tillsons in a Clarke-Harris and now this!

    I blame the ref.

Did you read this from the Peterborough post?

Total joke the Gas not having the paperwork sorted

And in Jan he will have 6 months left on his contract and may well hang fire to become a free agent

Imho this has been the third window in which a striker who can hold the ball up has been needed. We had Chris Martin who did a great job for us in 2021-22, but at the end of that season it was glaringly obvious he needed cover.

He’s now long gone, and hasn’t been replaced, the two home league games have shown how much we need that type of striker. With Nige’s interview earlier, I think it’s high time someone came out and explained exactly why there’s none of the AS money being reinvested, in this window anyway, back into the squad.

When interviewed by Geoff Twentyman at the end of last season, SL stated that what the football department makes, it can spend. There’s little chance of SL coming out and explaining the situation, so why not one of Phil Alexander, Jon Lansdown or Brian Tinnion on why we’ve brought a defender in on loan as our only signing since AS’s departure?

    Well said.

I really cannot understand why the owner cannot see this, as a fan he must know a stong centre forward is a must.

Its not going to happen now, and with the squad already without Conway until at least December i worry for the upcoming season

The squad is only 2 light if as most on here are happy with Max.

1 midfield with legs a bit like Knight but a bit more creative.

1 Striker (maybe only needed to Jan) Need a dif type someone with more physicality and preferably still run in behind.

We have more competition than I can recall in recent years.

Maybe not out and out quality but the depth and competition is there.

Nige has done a pretty good job on building the squad.

You could argue  a CB but when Atkinson back we have 4 who will all think they should be starting and maybe 3 others that can cover and prob do a decent job.

Maybe with some Measengo Money we will get one or both over the line for Friday.

I think Nige knows what we need and it’s down to the club to back him.

It is down to the club to back him!!!

This is only going to go one way if we don’t bring in a decent striker and he even may end up losing his job because of it.

Forums and social media sites are dismayed that NP has not been given any money and the owners will have to prepare for a massive backlash.

Additionally, does anyone else think that the reason that Nige isnt being backed is because of the uncertainty regarding his contract situation. Im worried that nige is gunna hand SL a letter telling him that hes gunna retire at the end of the season.

Way things are I can sense NP doing that well before the end of the season

If bringing in 25m doesn’t give Pearson money for players, I don’t think 1m does!

Webster, Kelly, Semenyo, Scott that adds up to well over 50 million.

I understand about the debt the club has been in but surely 5/10 million could be used for a top striker?

Let’s not pretend either that this is anywhere near a squad Pearson would like to have had after 2 1/2 years either.  My wording is that it’s a compromise.  Do you think that some signings / re-signings were transitional because we couldn’t bring in who we really wanted, so short of going with an even smaller squad than we currently have, we have had to sign / keep a few players we might not have had circumstances been different?

This is the first summer he appears to have really recruited what he wanted.  And he had to give up Semenyo in January for that!

And then the owner has shafted him following the sale of our best player for £25m and not allowed him to add to the squad.

    Yep!!!!

Didn’t see the game last night but heard good things around Yeboah. Are we seeing him as more of a right sided option or central striker? It’s clear as day even before Tommy was injured that we needed a powerful CF.

But remember he is 17 and raw.

Quality Championship defenders will wrap him up.

Mate I got slated for this at start of season  also need cover at back but people will say we’re ok , we’re 1 injury or suspension away from crisis and if vyner leaves we’re ******

You may well have the last laugh "Topper"

Maybe a controversial suggestion, but if we want someone physical, mobile, can hold up the ball and knows where the net is then Jonson Clarke Harris is someone I would be considering.  He is also on the transfer list at Peterborough.

Of course, there will be those saying not good enough for the championship, flat track bully, ex Gas etc but we are now shopping in League 1 and 2 and he is a proven goal scorer who also has some of the physical attributes we are sorely missing.

And from what I’m hearing the Gas are red hot favourites to sign him.

That would piss on their fire come transfer deadline day ?

It’s frankly ridiculous that a mid table championship club is in the position of playing the first half of the season with a 33 year old Nahki Wells as their only proper central striker.

We are nowhere near good enough a football team to play with the lack of physicality that the team has. We look utterly toothless in the final third, and almost like we have to score the perfect goal, and frankly we aren’t anywhere near good enough to score that goal often enough. We weren’t good enough to do that when we had Alex Scott, let alone without him.

If Pearson is telling the truth about the lack of incomings (and there’s no reason to not believe him) then watching this team play is going to be pretty infuriating, and frankly boring, until we are able to get Conway back.

This is obviously slightly tongue in cheek, but the squad would hugely benefit from a quick, strong centre forward almost regardless of how good or bad he may actually be at football.

    100% agree with this.
As much as I like Wells he is just seeing his time out and will not be offered another contract
