It is when he’s regularly as inept as he is. Last week I praised Simon Barrott on his Champ debut. I don’t fall into the “Keith Stroud” hate brigade either, so I’m not just a ref blamer. But I do think Gavin Ward and Geoff Eltringham are effing abysmal refs.
Oliver Langford is another I dislike, although he improved a bit over Covid before falling back to his old tricks.
(and I know youre a ref too )
And as you’re a ref, are you taught as refs to run away from play turning your back to the action, missing any shenanigans that might be going on because you’re facing away from the ball? Because both the refs I mentioned do exactly that. When they get near the halfway line they turn to face the play or hear crowd noise and wonder what’s happened. Surely they should run backwards?
I like Stroudy as he’s a character . Everything as much as possible should be in your peripheral. These guys are miked so regularly turn their backs on incidents. You’d be surprised how much the 4th official is involved in the game .
It’s quite hard to run flat out backwards so he’s taking the easy option to get in place for the next phase of play and the next dropping zone .
I did get my hair off with him yesterday after Prings tackle . He missed a blatant corner as he didn’t get wide enough or near enough the bye line .
He didn’t look the fittest ref I’d seen !!- 1

There’s plenty of other threads for that.
Thanks Dave . Pointing out the obvious. Easy to blame a ref .

Think the focus should be on our players and management team

But if the ref himself gives the foul on Saka, or the clear foul on Kane, from behind, in the box, it's a different game. England were done by the ref, not by var
The Saka foul the line is yards away . Kane has contact and not even a foul … something stinks . All the officials involved could’ve done better on key match decisions. Dreadful . Good luck to France I think they’ll win it

South American official ….
Something smells in the state of Denmark

I agree - as i said earlier i watch these games and something isn’t right
Officials trying not to give us anything even Mounts pen

We should never of been behind , the goal was a clear foul in the build up . A clear pen not given that would’ve gave us a chance in theory to go one up . We have been failed by the officials . Blatant cheating .

We have to scrap around with the free transfers . Long gone are the days of competing with clubs for a big signing . Sign of the times I’m afraid . This is where you need a good team to identify players and get them early days and turn them into better players and sell them on .
we are a selling club as most our apart from the elite -
I think as a club for years we’ve been pretty dire at seeing games out , managing them by whatever means necessary I don’t mind us being a little more schooled in some of those dark arts!!

Can’t argue with that decision!!

Millwalls form away from home has been terrible . Who thought we’d give them a helping hand before we kicked off ?
I hoped it wouldn’t go the way it did . A gift to a side that are struggling on the road . Is this the same old City ?
-
Not a great result yesterday. As a game of football in its purest form we contributed to a lacklustre game . Over the course of a season at home we will come up against the Millwalls of this league so we need to come up with a better plan to impose our football on them.
I’ve slowly warmed to Nigel after not being to excited when he got the job. Last season I could see little glimpses of what he was trying to do and this year I’ve seen we aren’t far away from being a top half team.
Easy to compare us to other clubs and other managers but no two scenarios are the same .

Keith Stroud is one of the worst referees in the country. I'm pretty sure he gave the Leeds manager a straight red for swearing a couple weeks ago
That is a red card !!!!!

He’s definitely sharpened up and long may it continue . Stepped up with Kalas injured and provides good competition

He excites me the way he plays the game . Want him on the ball to get us going . He gets caught out but that’s ok he’s trying to play , hopefully more to come and fewer lapses

Wind up from the Refs Association, cost Pearson £5K after the QPR game in Dec 21. Downs league or equivalent.
Great refs on the Downs !!

I like different opinion and welcome differing views on players old and new and of course managers . The club ain’t what it used to be in many good ways and some not so. All views welcome

Last night reminded me of why I love football. A cracking atmosphere from the faithful who knew how important a game it was as we hadn’t won in the league yet. Fast flowing possession based football. Luton looked decent without really hurting us . Was a little worried when I saw the team sheet and when we went down to ten I was quietly confident we wouldn’t concede.
Ive moaned on here about the product not being entertaining enough and this season I can see what our Nige is up too and the changes he’s made are massive . I know it’s early days. More please

When a poster refers to a player by his first name like they know him, they could but not every poster !
