Depends what part of BS4 you mean, you can buy two houses in Yate for the cost of any of the BS4 houses on and bordering the Wells Road, Briz is sound as well, as for my old haunt KW, that's a different matter !!!!!

    Haha, love it🤣

Confess I cant read you 😁

However sorry but you know jack.

Loads of 500k plus houses in Yate.

My former houses in Sandy Park and Knowle dont come close.

Not many Bristolians own those houses off the Wells Road unfortunately.

What riles me us the casual abuse/disdain Would the poster call residents of inner city suburbs mutants ?

    Dont think so.

Big City presence in Yate, but dont think a bus is needed matchday to be honest.

Wow a tongue in cheek response to BCR and the mutants of Yate unite 🤣

The town centre is a big success story and the residents love it.

Glad to hear it's more red than blue these days...

More of a fist in cheek remark id say.

    🤣

    See what I did there...

You went earlier than 1967 if you saw Big John play as he retired at end of season 1965/66.

Rooks arrived here in summer of 1969 and left at end of  71/72.

No idea why an attention seeker gave a confused reaction

    Matter of record isnt it.

You South Gloucestershirians needn’t worry about the opinion of a North Somersetian.
The only time KITR visits this far north is to come to my house for a coffee and biscuit and tell me how many more housing developments he’s got planned for what used to be my lovely small village!!
    🤣

Im BS4 originally mate Yate is way better 😁

Shame the club have never organised a pre season friendly with Willem II considering the link with the fans. Would be a nice touch

Been there loads, top fellas but the link only involves a few hundred tbf.

Dont forger Antwerp and Sparta Prague too.

Ah, Claire Young. You can tell we're in a GE year.

Surely there won't be the required interest in this anyway given Yate is full of gasheads, gypsies, and shops that still have pick n mix?

    Are you on drugs?

    Really odd post.

There’s an awful lot to the transition from kid’s football to men’s. Ability is important of course, but there are loads of lads who are at a similar level in academies who go on the have fundamentally different career outcomes. Attitude and hard work mean way more than ability once you reach a certain level.

The mental side of it is huge as well…. Suddenly playing in front of 20,000 people after spending your life in front of a few dozen is a massive shift and it’s no wonder a lot of players struggle with that.

In my experience, the academy system is pretty brutal for kids mentally. Having seen it at close quarters it’s an incredibly tough environment for a lot of the boys with very little support, despite what they say nowadays about player support etc. I imagine Mbude will have had all and sundry telling him how amazing he is for as long as he can remember and just won’t be prepared for how hard he’s finding things now. I really hope the kid makes it somewhere and doesn’t become another that got away.

He could be playing in the old firm derby right now, but left the club who had developed him for years, presumably for the money.

He left Glasgow Rangers not Accrington Stanley, so he has a very high opinion of himself.

Harsh I know but I couldnt give a shit whether he makes it or not.

If that's the case I think he has misread the room. Imo performances and attacking intent / style of play are far more important than a couple of dull 1-0 wins.

Very important for the top brass to finish higher in the table than where NP etc left us so I expect more of the same.

Don't you think Steve Lansdown hasn't been drawing profit/income from other parts of the whole Bristol Sport arrangement?

Pula doesn't publish accounts and owns everything....

He will profit greatly from real estate deals associated with the club.

Hard to say without knowing how much they are on. If either of them want to be in our top 5-6 paid players then I would move them on. And I wouldn’t give James 2 years.

Agreed on 2 years for James unless its one year with a trigger based on performances plus (surely) a wage cut.

Just showing fans have recency bias

    Not all fans.

Despite some recent performances, I thought Williams could go, King was patently not required, but James should be retained.

What about you, think they should all go?

Only James out of the two should stay but wages will mean he moves on also to further reduce the wage bill and be replaced by a new defensive midfielder to add to stokes and bird

I wonder if its wages or the term sought?

If the club wants him they will make it worth his while.

Whether he wants to stay is of course pertinent too.

    Correct.

I would add that I think 71 is a pretty realistic target for us. In most seasons it would see you finish something between 5th and 8th.

But yeh from where we are right now I'm expecting a final total of maybe 62.

So possibly 9 points off the target set by his boss.....

Hope someone pins the top brass down pre season on expectations and how they are going to reach them, as I think some SC sales may depend on that.

Yeah, can't really remember myself, but then I do take all their ramblings with a pinch of salt.

Let's face it, we sold our best creative player and bought McCrorie, a right back and they expected miracles.

Heres the problem mate, we shouldn't take their statements with a pinch of salt.

Zero confidence, zero trust in the club and I think im not alone in that view.

Not sure about pre-season, but based on what Tinnion said on the radio a few weeks back the target is 71 points, or 1.54 points per game.

Pearson was on 1.29ppg, and so on course for 64 points.

So...win all our remaining games to reach el supremo's target?

    Blimey.

Manning will do very well to hit Pearsons projected 64 points imo.

Strong language? Not in my opinion and trying to be helpful wasn't the point of my post.

The point I wa trying, unsuccessfully as is happens, to make was your pre-season expectations mean nothing to anybody at the club. They are based only on your opinion or hopes for how things should pan out. They are literally pointless without all the facts to hand.

You are more than welcome to have any opinion you want but it means nothing. That isn't a slur on you personally either as everyone can have their own opinions. Not everyone can have their own facts though and you are basing your points on your thoughts alone with no basis around them. Essentially a straw man's argument.

What were the stated pre season expectations of the club, can anyone recall?

I remember junior saying last year that the squad should be doing better.

Presumably statements emanating from bcfc top brass have enough gravitas to in turn influence the expectations of mere fans?

I do recall senior saying what the club earned it could spend hmm....

The real Madrid and barca model, they both have multiple sporting teams under one umbrella

The thing is they have a world wide rep when doing this, we didn't

I would also imagine both recruit the very best they can in every position withinin the hierarchy (I know the top man is elected)

I think this is where Lansdown has consistently deviated, never more so than right now.

What other club in the champ would have a trio of junior, Tinnion, and Manning running things, with (apparently) jono's inept mates throughout the bs structure.

    Tinpot dictatorship .

I know that BCFC from the academy up to the first team use approaches I outlined. I have had family members at BCFC in the academy, and a ex player in the U18's v Man City this week. It is basic football fundamental approach.

Being frustrated when players don't get it is normal ... I do not think its beneficial to put that frustration in public. My brilliant coaching mentor at the FA said to me  " Look closer to home, is it their fault or yours, review what you do and assess".

    Thanks.

Do you know what cognitive load theory is? Although I have qualifications in psychology directly relating to football I don't.

An answer to how do you assess? By players performances and actions, and talking to them. Frequently because of differing learning styles individuals will not have internalised all information, some will have misunderstood,  and some will take information literally as it was presented and that leads to challenges.

In any group of eleven, or twenty plus (a squad) it should be expected that people will display differing learning styles and difficulties like ADHD.

So, in order to promote deeper understanding information needs to be in differing forms, and repeated, repetition is the key to deep learning and competency. Periodized and repetitious education on task beats episodic jumping from task to task.

Do you see evidence that Manning and Hogg are adopting the approach(es) outlined in your final paragraph ?

Some of Mannings interviews appear to indicate that hes frustrated players dont "get it" .

More nonsense spouted by yourself. For what it is worth, I log-in most days. Not all of us are so attention seeking as yourself and feel the need to comment (negatively) on every little thing.

You seem to despise the new boss, team, philosophy, owners, burger van, tea lady - anything connected to this club. Would it not make sense to go and do/support something else. Negativity breeds negativity and though a forum should be about openly challenging views, the biased agenda you have is just depressing.

Put on ignore then for your own wellbeing.

Thanks, I've been looking at bits. I know there is a Salary Cap in Rugby that in theory should increase the solvency but seemingly not. Do Bristol push to the max they can or not especially?

Bristol isnt as "creative" as some cheats who are generally one step ahead of the law.

The cap isnt straightforward as you have exempt marquee players (was Piatau here for example), home gown also get some exemptions.

2 years ago Bristol forgot to terminate some contracts meaning they were stuck with unwanted players and had to then release internationals like Attwood, so the incompetence isnt confined to football.

So far, fairly underwhelming incoming with much better going out.

What is annoying is that the biggest clubs are held back by the cap so that teams drawing 5000 fans like Sale and Newcastle are on an even footing.
