Well, with Ian Gay stating (assumedly through Tinnion) that Liam has 8 games to save his job, I think we can reasonably say we’re nearing endgame. A couple of weeks ago I was of the mind to give Liam until the end of the season and see if we continually improved in a few key areas (game management, speed of play, bravery) - but we’ve regressed and I think the ship has now sailed.

What we can glean is that those above Liam (assuming SL) aren’t happy with what’s gone before, and we know wins of the nature of Swansea won’t butter any parsnips.

So, in those 8 games somehow Liam needs to markedly improve results (probably to playoff form) and performance not to get the sack. I don’t think that’s happening - and the way we’re setting up even if we meet point one we’re not getting point two.

It’s the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end. I’ve got no real doubt he won’t be here at the start of the season considering what he’ll need to do. It’s probably done in the next 3 games in practical terms.

And for avoidance of doubt, there is no way Tinnion should then be caretaker and he should be getting the archer as well.

Why hasnt Tinnion got 8 games to save his job also ?

    Replace Manning the problem remains.

Haven’t there been numerous posts pointing out Gary Probert did the legwork & was then poached by Mark Ashton for Ipswich?

I’m not saying he didn’t play a part, but do get the impression he massively overstated it.

He needs to go, I’d get rid of him before Manning personally.

    Spot on.

Surprised people still swallow the hype about Tinnions Academy cv.

Money is too tight to mention round these parts so when we do spend it, we have to spend it wisely.  With the blessing of hindsight can we really say we are where we need to be recruitment wise?  To spend £10m on the below, is it good enough?

    Knight - £2m

    McCrorie - £2m

    Gardner-Hickman - £1.5m

    Mehmeti.- £1m

    Dickie - £800k

    Cornick - £500k

Twine, Mebude, Stokes, Murphy - all signed for short or long term - circa £1-1.5m spent I’d guess.

Seems a mixed bag at best to me

I like Knight but I think hes been messed around positionally. McCrorie gets a pass pro tem. TGH jury out.

    Dickie fantastic business.

Mehmeti crap, Cornick not sure why we signed but puts a shift in.

Mixed bag indeed but who was/is scouting?

    Twine Mebude..why?

Stokes and Murphy punts based on some reaearch, possibly reading otib 😁

So it begins.  Another season of reluctant linesman duty’s, last minute player withdrawals, dog poo covered pitches, angry parents and angrier kids.

Both mine play in goal.  Both have tricky matches and it will be eldest child’s first season on full sized pitches, which means full sized goals - she’s lost in it.  Can see some pretty high score lines while the kids get used to the new dimensions.

Anyone else have games to go to this weekend?

    Epic times.

My boy went onto a better level but those seasons from age (5?) were so good. The parents running things were phenomenal.

My girl played for the same club, brilliant stuff.

OK, let’s  have your predictions for our final eight games, my (optimistic thoughts) are below. If I’m right we will pick up eight more points and finish with 55 points (four less than last season.)

    Home

    Leicester L

    Blackburn D

    Huddersfield W

    Rotherham W

    Away

    Plymouth D

    Sunderland L

    Norwich L

    Stoke L

    5 points

Agree with you mainly but reckon we will draw with Hudds and lose Blackburn.

Alan Dicks has a lot in common with Liam Manning.  He was a young coach who no one had heard of when he was brought in as manager, and a very vocal section of the fans were screaming for him to be sacked in his first season at the club.  Luckily Harry Dolman resisted that temptation, held his nerve, and eventually it paid off, big time.

    Dolman was different class.

Am I alone in thinking I'm in the silent majority that are pretty fed up with the current situation, unhappy at how the Pearson situation was handled BUT completely willing to wait til next season to judge manning (where he WILL be judged from game 1 onwards)?

Theres a lot of noise about manning out etc but do most fans feel like me ?

Not looking to knock anyones opinion (2024 has been dreadful and masked from looking even worse by the FA cup), just sometimes the loudest voices portray a larger sentiment than the reality.

Proof of the pudding will be home attendances after Leicester, which has cheap tickets available.

    Plus SC sales of course.

Just had a 'Banned' Message on my profile for 5 minutes.

Admin getting annoyed at the criticism towards the club? Or are the powers that be having a word in their ear...

Id be very surprised mate because there would be a lot of banned posters atm 😁

Silvio, silvio, silvio, if its a discussion about tinnions qualities as a technical director at this level im up for discussing it, and i have my doubts about his suitability for that role, but not his impact on the academy, or his playing career with us. I think he has earned enough respect from those earlier roles to not be called snake, sid, thick, unintelligent, or have someone thinking that the blame for all our troubles lies solely at his door, which is what was said earlier.

    So..

You dont believe he played a major role in shafting Pearson to further his own career (behaviour of a snake in the workplace), or you accept he did, but consider it ok as he played a lot of games for us?

Pearsons departure was on football grounds, so who provided that insight Micky Bell, Scotty?

I certainly consider him unintelligent in the context of the role he has snagged for himself, and he hasnt actually delivered any Academy lads to the 1st team who werent made ready by Probert.

    Hes fair game imo.

    Succinct? Pearson?

I'd hate to know your definition of verbose if you reckon Pearson was succinct!

He was thoughtful and articulate granted, but he absolutely loved "exploring" an answer beyond reason.

    Correct.

I think that developed as he got older.

Genuine question Super, is it silly that our Head Coach’s communication style is not clearly understandable to fans like me who really would like to know what he actually means. Furthermore, if I (and other fans) struggle to understand him what must the players be dealing with on a daily basis?

A key attribute for a leader/coach is excellent communication skills.

Old phrase ' Bullshit Baffles Brains" springs to mind.

    LJ without the charm eek.....

I agree,  but people (not necessarily the poster in here) are being a bit disingenuous bringing up an old comment and suggesting it’s just been said.

Agreed, unintentional im sure but I confess I thought it was new.

Extreme yea, but also 10 years old. Was said after Harry Redknapp said Spurs players would regularly try and get out of international duty

Whenever he said it he was out of order.
