  1. The competition has to have the same regulations in every round. It wouldn’t be acceptable to introduce ‘no replays’ in round 3 when the big boys join in.
  2. If you want to be cynical - try this. To ease the financial plight of many lower league clubs the draw ‘randomly’ selects the PL clubs home to a lower league club………..
  3. I’m sure that was taken in consideration when the ‘no replays’ was decided. Ultimately it’s a ‘swings and roundabouts’ dilemma. Bigger clubs definitely don’t want replays with the PL and European matches plus the League and FA cup fixtures. Manning already whinges about the relentless Championship schedule and I’m sure he’ll be delighted to not having to squeeze another game. However the chance of a lower league club drawing PL club at home remains the same but no big pay should the match be a draw.
  4. Right decision - extra time and penalties. Overdue in my view.
  5. Rob Dickie would be my choice but if James stays he’d be another possibility. I liked Nige’s way on deciding who the captain should be - he asked the players to vote on whom they’d like - simple but brilliant way of electing the captain.
  6. He does but Bath don’t have football club that plays in the Championship.
  7. I’m talking about the design Mike. The ‘D’ design is very innovative. I liked it. Pubs nearby don’t interest me.
  8. I heard that a certain Mr Dyson is interested in either buying or heavily investing in Bristol City. Probably just wild speculation and rumour tho……..
  9. That game is part of the transfer deal and an opportunity to enhance players fitness
  10. I don’t need to watch a preseason game to know Silvio It’s human nature, common sense if you like that players will not be 100% committed in a warm up game as they are in proper, points at stake Championship game. No player wants to risk injury prior to real stuff starting
  11. Pre- season matches are obviously very crucial for the preparations for the new campaign but the results are secondary to the real benefits of player fitness and the opportunity to use any new tactics and systems to evaluate their efficacy. Subconsciously or indeed consciously players really don’t want to get injured before the real business starts and are never 100% committed and precisely why I’ve never ever watched a preseason game.
  12. My views exactly PF. The one stadium that impressed me in recent years was the Ricoh. Its ‘D’ design was particularly unique - plus of course that City usually did pretty well there. These days AG is very different since the redevelopment and all it needs now is to to enclose the Atyeo with the Dolman and Lansdown but whether that’s viable or not I have no idea. It would certainly add to the capacity tho.
  13. Congratulations to Pompey. Fratton Park was the second away ground I visited in the late 60s/early 70s. My first was the County Ground when Don Rogers was playing for them.
  14. It wasn’t so long ago that he had a chat with Pat Lam telling him to go back to playing in the Bears way and Lam did - I don’t think that the Bears have lost since.
  15. The advert claimed that it’s perfectly legal…………
  16. The Mardyke in Hotwells with the Bear almost opposite are good for prematch pints. The Mardyke in particular is usually a bit cheaper and both within easy walk of AG. The Coopers and the Rising Sun on Ashton Rd both get very busy on a matchday so probably best to avoid them My personal choice would be the Mardyke.
  17. The advert claims that it’s simply plugs into your tv and it gives access to all subscriptions including Sky Sports free of charge. As I said it seems too good to true and that’s why I’ve asked on here if anyone has any experience of using one. Lots of posters know far more about the internet and tv technology than I do.
  18. He’s another that we’ve seen little of and yet he’s being written off as well……….
  19. Seen this advertised on several platforms and it looks very tempting. Almost too good to true……… Has anyone got one or know anything about it?
  20. I’m glad that I forgot to listen in.
  21. Not me Galley - i don’t feel qualified to say whether City should try to keep him or not for the reason I’ve already mentioned.
  22. Absolutely spot on. Even when City are live on TV the commentators often remark about the ‘cider songs’ belting out around AG - nationally cider is associated with the West Country. One of my other favourite Wurzels song is ‘where be the blackbird to?’ - I’d like to hear that over the tannoy more often at AG,
  23. To fully evaluate what any player brings they need to have a run of at least 10 full games. After that we’d have an idea and able to form an assessment - Twine has been injured, hardly trained and therefore not fully match fit and played half a dozen games - in all of those he didn’t play the full game and yet you feel qualified to pass judgement on a player you’ve hardly seen…………. Anyway it’s irrelevant. He won’t be at City next season.
  24. Twine has hardly played - 6 games apparently. Some of those would have been away so those, like me who only watch City at AG these days have seen him around three times and with him not being fully match sharpe. Its way early to start drawing conclusions about what he offers. Anyway I doubt that he’ll be at City next season.
