Where have a threatened violence? I just wanted to offer an opportunity to come out from behind that keyboard you pathetic little ****. You're everything that's wrong with the Internet today. Coming on here thinking you can say whatever you like whilst hiding behind your keyboard. You are an utterly pathetic individual. Look in the mirror ********, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
  2. The person doing the threatening is actually a MODERATOR - Roverdrive. You couldn't make it up - moderators offering to fight posters. Only The Roverzzzzzsss eh ?
  3. Quick answer - 'Spanish Flu' was believed to originate in Texas from WW1 vets - of hispanic origin. Healthcare was non-existent as the war crippled millions upon millions of troops and civillians - anti-biotics were just being invented. Spanish Flu killed between 50 - 100 million worldwide As with COViD 19 - the figures here will be vague - did the old lady die from the virus or her 25 yrs of asthma damage? Unless tested you'll never know, and we don't have enough kits for the living let alone the dead. In Western Europe - the answer is simply - no. There is enough healthcare to limit the damage - but 250,000 dead would not be unexpected at the end. USA will be lethal for the uninsured and highly populated poor countries like India and Pakistan, African nations will be decimated. I would honestly expect the toll in those countries to be in the millions by the end - but again, we will never know for sure. 3rd world, poor Islamic countries will be the worst as they simply will not adhere to any kind of instruction if it involves Allah. Iran probably has 100,000 dead (again we will never know, but videos and satellite imagery shows over-flowing morgues and vast areas of pits and piles of lime......) - but again, led by the lunatic Imans Iranians have attacked and overpowered security and massed at religions sites to kiss icons one after the other in their thousands. It's suicide frankly, but thats religion for you. So, overall I'd say 'Western' level healthcare countries with strong social control over the population movement will do the best (although look at you guys in the pubs, and us Australians having to put armed troops on beaches to stop the ####### idiots massing in the thousands) Next level - USA Then semi-developed nations like Mexico,Georgia,Thailand Bottom of the pile - as I said above, poor countries that put religion above health care. The death toll WILL be in the millions by the end in those places. For the Wealthy west, after the virus, prepare for the worst poverty since WW2. We have now have had to put armed Police in Supermarkets as workers have been stabbed and assaulted, and pensioners bashed in the car parks. Some f uckwit stole all boxes of sanitiser and 90% of our high-protection masks from Theatre/ICU stores yesterday. I am currently working using the same mask with sanitary menstrual pads changed every case. I'm not a real fan of people at the moment - this is really bringing out the worst in some. One of our nurses was bashed unconcious because she wouldn't let someone with a cough and temp into ICU before staff and security could get to her. 24 years old, probably infected and sick herself, and now needs plates and screws to put her face back together, before her missing teeth can be put back. Trying to help people. I honestly despair at society today. Sorry - I'm tired and pissed off. I'm back again working tonight, but I can say that we do appear to have slowed the virus here (just slowed it) - but if our PM grew a pair and implemented full lockdown for 6-8 weeks, we could actually stop it. I have little confidence he will. I need sleep. I'll answer anymore questions when I get some time (if anyone cares!)
  4. But,but, but - I posted live Penguin Cam! Who doesn't love Penguins? And the Leopards do move now and again...
  5. Enjoy live Penguin and Snow Leopard streams.Great to pop up if you are stuck at home, and all live from Melbourne. Enjoy!
  6. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/17/there-is-a-policy-of-surrender-doctor-on-uks-covid-19-failures Australia has run out of kits but 100,000 more expected tonight. No gatherings indoors of 100+ people - so pubs etc have a 4m exclusion zone plan!! Borders closed to most travellers My son who is doing his masters cannot get to Uni, go on his placement and has now lost his job as he was Cinema duty manager to supplement his income whilst studying. My wife teaches international students and expects to be laid off indefinately next week. I'm expecting 14 day straight 12 hr shifts on ventilated patients any day. The hospital don't have enough kits to test any of us, unless we show symptoms, which by then will be too late. A lot of the staff feel we are probably killing some of the people we are supposed to be trying to help, as we haven't been tested, and access has been denied, unless we manage to buy one from abroad. Bloody ridiculous.
  7. 113 deaths in Iran in 24 hrs 368 Italian deaths in last 24 hrs. Hospitals are running out of ventilators, and sadly 90% of those on them will die. I think Italy has something like 1700 patients being ventilated for more than 7 days on ECMO - the chance of recovery is very slim. Because of its complexity and risk, ECMO is most often used as a last resort in patients suffering massive lung failure, heart failure, the effects of massive infection such as sepsis or pneumonia. Doctors have lowered the max age for use of ventilators to 55 in Northern Italy. Guys I work in Anaesthetics. It's bad over in both those countries, and the rest of Europe and the Middle East are catching up fast- which is why I really doubt the Chinese info.
  8. A couple of weeks ago - 27 yr old woman if I recall. Oh and a dog in Hong Kong got it from it's owner.....
  9. I think all 'meetings' of people over 10 will be the new normal 'maximum' amount. We clearly aren't being told the whole truth and the effects of this pandemic are being 'manipulated' to try to re-assure the public. Even with the 'scary' headlines. Look at some of the facts (as reported by actual government agencies) The implementation of MARTIAL LAW in some countries, inc the UK very soon (forced detention of sick people) Republic of Ireland trying to free up 10,000 beds - yes 10,000 hospital beds Italy applying a cut off age of SIXTY for mechanical ventilation. How many people do you know over 60? A lot of ventilated patients are already dead - as in no hope of recovery. Case in point the 1st victim in Italy - in his 30's and now ventilated for 39 days. He's a dead man, and someone needs to pull the plug. Europe is completely unprepared - Spain,France,Germany all already struggling, yet with a fraction of Italian cases. Iran and China supplying false death rates - multiple vids showing piles of unburied dead. Something else just does not add up - look how many 'famous' people have it. Politicians, sports stars, Actors - yet Governments would have us believe only 150,000 have the illness - it is so disproportionate the number of well known people in that 150k. It's the 3rd world I fear for - India has 1 billion people living there with appalling health facilities. Ditto Pakistan,South America, Africa etc. 3000 have died of Ebola in Congo but hardly a single article from the press (because you know, black people apparently don't make good headlines) - and most African nations struggle with basic health anyway. Put it this way - does anyone believe Thailand has only 82 cases when they had 50 over 3 weeks ago? Personal factual info - Queensland Health alone have just bought an extra 110 ventilators (at $400,000 each) - and Australian Hospitals are amongst the best on the planet - so if a state with only Brisbane as a city of any significant size spends that sort of $$, just what are they expecting. Here in Victoria, we have erected 200 pop-up testing facilities. These are existing physiotherapy, pathology, closed GP surgeries so have the basic medical facilities - and the queue's are hundreds long - and we are catching the infected.Walk In, test, wait, and if infected, direct to isolation. And yet our tally grows at a terrifying rate - over 250 now - doubled in 2 days. Private hospitals are being emptied and designated as Corona Centres (no doubt at great profit to the greedy bastards owning them) but Anaesthetists I work with are all absolutely certain we will be having to make the decision on age eligibility for mechanical ventilation within 14 days maximium. Numbers are being hidden, and the death toll is far in excess of quoted figures. The death toll in the Western Countries will be significant over the next 12 months - but in Pakistan and India - god help them, for they have no defence at all unless a person is extremely wealthy. It is impossible to overestimate the POTENTIAL for world deaths at this point. It really is potentially that bad, unless we bring in draconian measures immediately. And that includes use of the Armed Forces. I hope everyone uses common sense, washes their hands and isolate themselves as much as possible.
  10. https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6 UK and Australia amongst others not on 'total cases' list, yet have been there since day one. Strange.
  11. No, but you are welcome to put your cider down and re-read the post again. There is nothing to be ashamed of that you are scared. You can see it in every post you scribble. But you clearly are bricking yourself, and lashing out isn't the way to cover that fact. Have a lovely weekend.
  12. NSW Health released details on the 13 latest cases. They are: Still think it's an elderly persons problem this coronavirus? Young people are just as likely to get it and die, lesser numbers sure, but the blaise attitude from some is astonishing.
  13. Australia prepare for 'inevitable' Olympic games cancellation AFL cancel game in China Premier League clubs cancel pre-season games down-under - Manyoo, Spurs and Arsenal cancel arranged games in Australia. Use of armed forces to quarantine areas 'not ruled out' Massive runs on supermarkets leave shelves empty around the country. And we only have had one death yet. When you have lunatic Christians in Korea hiding it, and stupid Muslims in religious sites licking the same stone one after each other, and the Indonesian President stating 'Allah will stop the virus from entering our country' - you have to wonder if we actually deserve all we get. Religion - killing more people than anything else in the history of mankind........
  14. Too many people are mate (nothing personal!) This impact of this disease if this laisse-faire attitude continues will be devastating. Just reading this thread shows self-quarantine will never work in some sections of the community. 15. To put this in perspective The last pandemics were SARS (thanfully stopped) AIDS Spanish Flu (up to 100 million dead) Black Death (50% of Europe died) Smallpox The difference with this bad boy is a long 'incubation period' up to 27 days with no symptoms in extreme cases. And it is quickly mutating. You are able to re-contract it High mortality rate (currently tracking at 3% on reported cases to death ratio, Iran is very bad) - seasonal flu kills 0.4 - 0.5% of people. Ratio of infection is about 1:4 (one person gives it to 4 others) The whole world will eventually get it - there is no way to vaccinate in time. It affects anyone, but yes pre-existing conditions such as smoking, diabetes, being fat, high alcohol, poor diet, cancer etc etc mean you are at much higher risk. BUT completely healthy 30-40 yr olds are dying as well. This could kill 3-5% of the worlds population, as while places like the US, Australia,Canada have incredibly advanced health systems - Pakistan,India Iran South America Africa etc etc do not, and they will be hit very hard. Iran being the prime example at the moment - 34 deaths out of 388 cases (as of 10.30am 29/02/2020) - that's 9% Death rate. This isn't a sniffle - this pandemic - because that's what it is - even if it kills 2% world wide means upward of 140,000,000 deaths. So yes, in Western Europe, you will mostly be fine - but 1% - 2% of you will die The lesser developed nations will suffer very badly indeed.

  17. You are of course absolutely correct in every word you write. I think the term 'Ashton Gate 8' is perhaps an easier way to 'recall' those times than retelling the whole story to younger fans. 6 of the 8 deserve full recognition due to their overall careers - and I include Dave 'the Duck' Rodgers in that 6. And if you were to ask them NOW I think they will all admit to be very uncomfortable about their status compared to the BOD at the time, and especially Deryn Coller and Ken Sage. Bristol Sport would not exist without the history of Bristol City Football Club to underpin it all - Bristol Rugby,Basketball, Womens Games, concerts, hotels and the new stadium would simply not ever have been considered if BCFC had gone under. BS have a duty to recognise that fact, and when the Atyeo is refurbished (now Big John has his statue) I would very much like to see it named the '1982' stand, with a wall mural of the people involved inside, and the REAL story of the board proudly written up in a huge display in a place of prominence for all to see and respect. So here's to: Deryn Coller, Ken Sage,Ivor Williams, Leslie Kew, David Russe, Bob Boyd, Bob Marshall, John Pontin, and Des Williams plus to a slightly lesser extent John Southern and Alan Williams. Because without the desperate will of that board and associates - Bristol would be Blue - City wouldn't have lasted another 6 months in any shape or form as a tenant at Ashton Gate under Bristol Rovers Eastville Owners owners as Rovers would be the main team. They would just have let us go under. So the guys above closed the share-buying scheme, stopping Rovers grabbing AG for sod all, and basically paid for everything out of their own pockets. Found the £50,000 needed to keep us in the Football League. They bought food for staff who weren't getting paid, washed kits, beg stole or borrowed money from family and friends to keep the club alive until it could stand on it's own very wobbly feet. The 1982 stand is the least Bristol Sport could do, I reckon.
