  1. We hit the woodwork twice and missed 2 sitters! What game were you watching?? As for their goal - Vyner was grabbed by the shirt by Sharpe and pulled backwards - that's why he mis-headed it. There is a screenshot on here somewhere It wasn't a mistake - Vyner was fouled by an offside player and a goal resulted from the foul The ref lost us the game - Not Vac Vyner
  2. Spot on. Held his leg back out of the 'tackle' then pushed it into Williams knee powered by a lunge. Filthy, filthy leg-breaking foul. Straight red.
  3. I understand that. You are correct in saying that no purchase, no debt is allowed (their house etc) and pre-payment allows that. However, as the entity that owns Ashton gate also owns the areas around it, where there is scope to 'pay cash' for certain items or in certain facilities - legal tender' has to be allowed. To exclude 'cash' then every single facility on all areas owned by the same entity has to be cash free. I honestly don't know if 100% everything on the AG footprint and surrounding land (owned by same owner) is 100% cashless? Look it is a moot point, as stewards aren't going to get into legal semantics at the access area - they will find a reason not to let you in if they want to rigorously enforce this. I'd be interested though if this went to court - and if BCFC Holdings lost - what the penalty would be. In reality most people would find it petty, and too far-reaching to be acceptable.
  4. The answer is simple and has been touched upon by many. Home fans need to be next to away fans in big numbers in an area where free-ish movement is allowed. It sounds silly (and probably is) - but put home fans next to away fans and the rivalry becomes 'personal' for 90 minutes. When they sing, gesture and mock, we get annoyed, threatened, defensive of our 'home' and respond in the only may possible (legally!) by doing the same! Fans feed off each other - always have, always will. If they score and our 'lads' are 100m away, then there isn't much verbal response (lads being a term for younger more boisterous fans) - but if they are 15m away they respond more 'ferociously' with singing /chanting etc - because they can see the 'enemy' and respond. Again it sounds daft - but it is possible to hate the away fans for 90 minutes, and laugh about it later. I don't know if what I am trying to say makes sense - I suspect it will to older fans, maybe not newer ones. The only answer is to make the old A + B blocks (from top to bottom) the place for the boisterous to congregate plus: 30 day advance option for season ticket holders who want to swap for a particular game - (ensures no away fans or previously banned) POTD with 30 days advance sales to City fans (with proven history) only so the people who want to be next to away fans can do so for that game if not ST owners - (ensures no away fans or previously banned) POTD up to 1hr before kick-off only (should prevent most away fans as to be quite blunt, they would be sussed easily by stewards if arriving 1hr before kick-off). Professional segregation between A+B and Atyeo stand - and I mean by 'professional' that Police Officers enforce Away fans and Home fans entry to the area between the stands - not stewards. Stewards can certainly be used to be a visible deterrent, and for verbal direction, but Police will be needed to 'enforce' segregation, should the worst happen. And put netting in these areas: The netting and Police should stop 99% of trouble - only the very determined would 'get through' - and that doesn't happen very often in reality. Ashton gate should be able to do this change - you don't need more Police, just better placed ones, plus a slight revamp of the IT system to book seat changes. If it goes ok for a season - then look to introduce reserved seating at the front of A+B (so people can sit if they want and still see) and free movement at the back (ie standing is 'tolerated'). If that works - introduce rail seating in all of A+B. Football crowds aren't the same as the 'bad old days' - yes you will get some abusive behaviour, some threatening gestures, and bad language - but this isn't the 80's. People aren't bringing bricks, pool balls and darts to matches anymore. Stanley knives aren't being waved around, much less slashing people across the face. Football is too sanitised now - so let the leash off a bit and see what happens. People who don't want to sing and gesture can happily sit in the South Stand, 75m away from those who do. Win/Win. The changes above to A+B block will go ahead if the club is reassured that mass violence won't erupt. And with pre-booked seats (ID confirmed) and POTD stopping 1hr pre-match + netting and Police should be more than enough to ensure it doesn't. How people will convince the powers-that-be to make that change is another matter!
  5. Pretty certain it is illegal. To confiscate coins is to deprive someone of the right to settle a debt with 'Legal tender' - an old law to be sure, but it IS a law. Note the word 'private' above - to enter a private facility and buy stuff is to incur a private debt - and legal tender MUST be accepted to settle that debt. Going cardless in that facility does not change the fact that you can legally still pay in cash, wether the private facility like it or not.
  6. In the form of his career, Zac had his best ever game. Marshalled an incredibly young and inexperienced defence against much more seasoned opponents. Fantastic game - well played Zac
  7. Jon Lansdown - your time is now..... After the debacle of Ashton, and seeing what a decent CEO can do in Gould - it would be 100% an SL thing to do to appoint his own son. After you have all stopped laughing - the reality of this being possible will sink in. A move that would sum up SL's time at City - appointing his completely unprepared son as CEO. ?
  8. I find it quite bizarre that any club in the championship wouldn't make space to sell another 1000+ tickets to away fans, and stick rigidly to the 2167 allowance. Everyone of those 1000 will spend at least £35 on tickets and a drink - surely it costs less than £35,000 to segregate another area? Baffling - especially as the demand is obviously there, and Reading will certainly have the space, as their attendances haven't been stellar this season
  9. Needs to come down in Australia. The median in Melbourne is $1,100,000+ for a 3 bed dog-box. Home Loan interest rates now up to 5.7% and climbing. 5 year fixed rates now 7.8% !! I got mine fixed 8 months ago at 2.95% - thank god. Prices tipped to drop 15 - 18% next year. Down 3.7% this quarter. Finance drying up as min 20% deposit required ($200,000+ in most suburbs) Going to be tough for the low income earners, and 1st time buyers, that's for sure.
  10. I'd take this more seriously if it wasn't for the stupid 'kisses' at the end. If a bloke did it to a female - hello HR Dunno why women do it, or why they think it's 'cute' Pet Peeve
  11. Goodness, however will SL make money from owning Bristol City and its land? ? Oh wait.......
  12. Genuine question. Don't remember ever playing but like to do something with grandkids. What would I need to get started? Seems to be lots of games on ebay Australia - but all incomplete. I'd need the game plus...? Can people post accessories that they used? I've seen a scoreboard and a TV tower so far plus heaps of different teams. Anything else? If anyone has a complete game and extras - looking to buy I guess. Shipping to Australia (which I will pay obviously) - been thinking of stuff to do with the little 'uns. This could be it!
  13. I still remember the shot being used when Arya killed the Night King in Game Of Thrones! Went viral, and I'm going - 'thats Ashton gate!'
  14. The time to change protocol was before the Queen died. Observe the tradition mourning for Elizabeth, and change it to suit the current times before King Charles dies. Is that too much to ask? Some posters on here may well wake up tomorrow and feel ashamed of themselves with the comments they left.
  15. Don't be a dick mate. This is her workplace,so no, she shouldn't have to cope with a few meatheads asking her to take her top off when she is there to look after sports injuries. I despair sometimes at how slow people are to accept that this is plain wrong. If your wife or daughter went to work, and some random went up to her and said 'Hi - can I see your tits' - I doubt you would be happy? Same for her mate, same for her.
  16. I think if we get a younger replacement for Martin - anyone who can run out a full game tbh - and have a solid 4 at the back and 4 across the middle, then a heck of a lot of issues will go way. When the midfield crumble, the team crumbles. NP cannot expect the opposition to have an extra player in the middle for most of the game and not for us to come off second best. If we need loans - so be it 4-4-2 - ditch the wingbacks. I know NP has recruited for 3-5-2 but he has to admitted we don't have the mids to cope. If we can't get 3 champ quality loans in 1 striker, 2 mids), then NP will have to switch tactics. Where are these players? I don't know - it's to be hoped the club have a list of potential late loanees Long hard year if we stick with Martin and 3-5-2
  17. I bet nobody is surprised there is a grant for those panels and that BC holdings sell the excess (which is heaps on non-match-days) back to the national grid. But, yeah, it's all altruistic innit. Mugs.
  18. Nobody will be interested in any of the clubs. Everyone will be interested in the land they sit on, especially the ex-brownfill - and the new indoor arena. Everything else is disposable. The only interested party that genuinely showed interest was from the ME and could not care less about the clubs involved, but would be very interested in the arena, offices, flats and undeveloped land remaining. He has left it too late - he will not deal with the ME interest, Russia is legally off the table, and the Chinese are going through a property bust and big recession - the USA is also in a bear market. The buyers were potentially there 2-3 yrs ago Now just one. And SL will not deal with them. As the 100th richest man on Earth, I'm sure he can cope with a few more millions of losses.
  19. England v Germany It's fated history again. "They think it's all over......" 1-0 England in an edge of the seat game
  20. You travel some miles Are you a journo? If not, you have bloody tolerant employers for all your time off! Fair play for your constant positive promotion of the Womens Game and City's Womens side. The club should be approaching you for a reporting role. Or a national newspaper / TV channel - you seem incredibly well informed on this part of English football. Keep it up - love your reports. @JerrySLO Give this guy a contact at the club to talk about a job!
  21. Very tasty - Everton relegated. 4/1 with free losing bet - I may well have a go - thoughts?
  22. 100% With Weimann and Martin up front - he would be almost the Semenyo role with quick run / pass to either link with Martin or put through Weimann. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when NP and CF discuss HNM role - it's so frustrating as there is potentially one hell of a player in there. I can see why HNM is torn between staying and going if this is the case. Surely though @Davefevs @spudski this is exactly the conversation that NP and HNM have to have - "Where do you feel you would play best for Bristol City?" I suspect it either hasn't happened (which would be very strange as NP seems as straight a shooter as there is) - or it has, and HNM agreed to change his role to help the team. As it stands, it seems to be to the detriment of both parties.
  23. First time watching the womens Euro's Was a cracking watch. Spotted @shahanshahan flag! Good entertaining football Co-commentators were excellent - enjoyed Lucy having a crack about Swedish /English fans not being able to buy the empty seats - good on her The officials weren't noticed - which for me, is the highest praise to be given. I suspect the game may have been different had Sweden buried those early chances. But they didn't. On to the final - well played Lionesses
  24. Sorry chaps - have Covid and feel shit, but no excuse for being rude. Apologies
