  1. We've hardly become a feeder club for Bournemouth because they've bought 3 players from us down the years. I don't recall it being suggested that Chelsea were a feeder club for us when we signed Kalas, Dasilva and Palmer.
  2. Mountains out of molehills or let's create a problem where none exists. There are a number on OTIB who could write for the dirty tricks Mail or Torygraph
  3. Disappointed that he's gone but that's football. Looks like we may have got our £25M but inclusive of add ons, rather than plus add ons, which is what I (and I think Nigel) wanted. We move on now.
  4. If Alex is with us come the end of this window I expect he will be here for the season. Players don't usually come cheaper in January and those who need to buy because they're near the bottom of the table are likely to look for more experience than Alex can offer.
  5. London money? I know in my civil service youth working in the capital I received London Weighting but I never realised it applied to footballers as well.
  6. Glad to see that Barnsley and Level Playing Field have shamed the Gas into a U-turn to allow disabled away supporters to their upcoming fixture. You can guarantee without intervention they wouldn't have altered their original position of no access for these supporters to the match.
  7. McIllmoyle, one of the best headers of a ball I've seen. The impact he had on City supporters of a certain age (like me) was remarkable given he was here for such a short time playing just 20 league games and scoring 4 goals.
  8. England through and it doesn't matter how. Apart from Georgia's surprising miss the other penalties were superb. Can't complain about Lauren James red card but can complain about Robyn Cowen's commentary. I was getting sick of England Defenders 'doing just enough' while every time Nigeria defended superbly.
  9. I like the Sunderland shirt. Very clean lines.
  10. And Southampton the worst shirt? That rag on their backs was hideous.
  11. And the taxman might want to know why.
  12. I'd like a later start and to have the window shut before the season starts but I'd prefer a later finish than more midweek games. As I get older I like night matches less and less. As, a non driver who lives in Filton it's bad enough getting to the Gate on the bus during rush hour, but it's an absolute pain to get home.
  13. I've generally found the BBC to be very good in reporting attendances. In this day and, age however with computerised entry systems there is no reason why clubs shouldn't publish on their websites or social media platforms the actual numbers through the turnstiles including a separate figure for away support.
  14. There was one late in the second half when he saw titchy Duane Holmes in front of him and thought 'I'm having him!'
  15. What happened to higher or lower? Did I miss them giving away a prize to a kid.
  16. 16th of an inch. There's no place for metric measurement on a football pitch.
  17. The drama goes on. Sweden put out the USA on penalties. USA were by far the better team in the game but didn't take their chances and the Swedish keeper had a blinder. After extra time the penalty shoot out was full of drama. After Sweden's third player missed USA star had a chance to make it 4-2 but blazed over. At 4-3 to the USA they again had the chance to win it but Smith blazed high and wide and 20 Yr old Bennison who plays for Everton women made it 4-4. Up steps another double world cup winner for the USA who hits the post. Sweden now have chance to win it. The kick us taken, the keeper saves but it spins behind her and VAR rules it crossed the line, which it did by about a 16th of an inch. Couldn't script it better.
  18. I hadn't bought a programme in years but thought I'd give your new publication a go. Unlike some of the other posters I thought it was an excellent read. It was well balanced with all the best elements of programmes down the years eg piece on the opposition, player links between the clubs, playing squad and fixtures table etc. I liked the featured articles on Chris Garland and Brian Clark and the down memory lane pieces, particularly what we were reading. My favourite back when I was a teenager was Goal magazine and had every issue, including the pilot issue, from it's first publication in 1968 until it finished in 1974. I wish I still had them now. Keep up the good work. I look forward to the next issue.
  19. Amazingly Keira Walsh is back in training and if she comes through a fitness test today she will be available for selection against Nigeria.
  20. That was in answer to my question on the match day thread following the errant report on the BBC, which is usually reliable. Does anyone know the number of Preston fans at the game. If not i will have to wait until it comes up on fans banter.
  21. I note that Joe Porton, released by City this summer, was man of the match in Melksham Town's 4-2 away win at Cowes Sports in the FA Cup preliminary round.
  22. BBC site has attendance wrong. They've recorded 29,359 which is above capacity. Anybody have the actual attendance and the numbers from Preston?
  23. Yes mine's changed too now. Oh well! Provided I can get in for Birmingham as easily as I did today there'll be nothing to worry about. It certainly was smoother than the supporters club where they had to call in the techs twice to sort out problems with their new payment system.
  24. Not a great day for me. Just prior to kick-off my mate gives me a, chocolate éclair toffee and I lose a filling. God knows when I can get that sorted. Then I sit through a tepid game where the only plusses were Bell, Vyner and the fact we didn't get beat which we would of done against a more clinical side. The wind did spoil it though and worse things happen at sea so on to Millwall and, hopefully, a better performance.
  25. Fair enough if that what's you feel but I just think if an acceptable offer had been made we'd of heard it. Pearson isn't one to feign injuries If he'd been fit he'd have played.
